Stanley is a very caring individual who goes above and beyond with a focus on making you feel better. You've definitely get more than your money's worth! Stanley is very responsive to what is going on at present with the body and helps raise awareness of how the body is feeling and what it needs. His background and knowledge of physical therapy is evident which is a huge help for those of us dealing with current, recurrent or history of pain. He has a holistic view and addresses improved range of motion and function, including small changes to apply throughout the day to help maintain and strengthen body function. I learned a lot in a short time and am still practicing what he taught me every single day! read more

Stanley noticed I was limping at the gym and was kind enough to see if I was okay. I knew my foot was injured because I rolled it pretty bad slipping down a flight of stairs a week or so prior, but didn't know exactly what was wrong, or how to care for it. He was kind enough to take a look at my foot, and in under a minute was able to find out what was wrong, and helped me with a video on how to care for it while it's in recovery. His instructions helped so much and in one day I feel better. He went above and beyond to care for my injury, and make sure it has a proper speedy recovery. He was kind enough to take the time out of his day to look at my foot, text me instructions on how to care for it, and send me a video tutorial. Stanley knows his stuff with 21 years of experience and counting, I highly recommend him. read more

The difference in hiw I feel since starting my work with him is remarkable. And I intend to continue. Thanks Stanley for being so good at what you do! read more

Stan is a fantastic personal trainer. If you have a goal to meet, he can get you there; but more importantly to me, if you have an injury or pain, he knows exactly the stretches and exercises to make you right again. Sometimes it only takes a quick session to help you alleviate years of chronic pain or discomfort. Not only that, but Stan Cares. He has compassion that compels him to help everyone around him, and a affinity towards healing those in need. Stan excels at helping you reach your fitness goals, but also improves your quality of life at no additional cost. read more

Originally, I crossed paths with Stanley at the gym. I had made the decision to shift my focus from cardio to strength training. Despite sharing my concerns about certain injuries with various trainers over the years, many dismissed them. I felt like they doubted me because I appeared healthy overall, without visible casts or broken bones. However, Stanley noticed my struggle with push-ups, realizing I was compensating for shoulder pain. He took a gentle and organic approach, investing time to understand my situation and teaching me how to address the issue. It wasn't something I could fix overnight; physically, I couldn't manage it. With Stanley's guidance, I dedicated two months to practice until my muscles finally understood the assignment! While others encouraged me to push through the pain, Stanley took the time to truly understand my story. I STILL have to practice these corrections and every time I do, I internally thank Stan! read more

Stanley was a God sent to us both!!!we have been traveling and once we arrived at Walnut Creek he was referred to us. He worked on each one of us for about an hr each. Wow. Strategic points were worked in gently and immediately we saw a difference in our posture and movements. He doesn't just massage, but he also advices you on the best ways to maintain a healthy posture and training at home. I wish that we could have him more often. Loved his mannerism and touch. Thank you. read more

I met Stan when my sister and I moved my 85-year-old mother into a memory care facility in Walnut Creek. She had fallen and needed help with healing from her injuries. We had no idea how wonderful Stan would be for our mom! Stan is a true professional. He is competent, knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, caring, personable and attentive. He got mom back on her feet and we continue to use him to help her stay strong with walks and exercises. I have been working with Stan for about 4 months now and have had great results. I not only lost weight and gained muscle, but I also increased mobility. Stan personalizes your workout to meet your specific needs and modifies exercises to help you reach your goals. Stan also showed me how to foam roll and stretch which was very helpful. He is very friendly and easy to talk to and you can tell he is very passionate about helping people. read more

I've been struggling with chronic pain and stiffness for years, which has kept me from being as active as I want to be. Exercise classes at the gym, personal trainers, etc. all caused more harm than good! Until I met Stanley! He really listened to me. He helped me start super slowly and taught me to use my muscles correctly, allowing me to become stronger without causing additional problems. He also taught me how to stretch effectively and work on better self care. I am now much stronger and can be more active. I am no longer in constant pain. I've been able to loose some weight. And I get to chase my kids around, and occasionally CATCH them! Thanks Stanley!!! read more

As an outdoor educator, climber, and backpacker who spent countless hours in his youth skateboarding and drumming, I deal with more injuries and pain than I care to admit, even to myself. Without exception, every time I see Stanley he asks how I'm feeling, and is always happy, genuinely happy, to offer his kindness, compassion, and near endless knowledge to help me with whatever issue I might be having that day. I honestly cannot say enough about frequently Stanley has helped me... and I am perfectly comfortable recommending him to anyone dealing with an injury or pain. He always takes the time to not only help me with whatever my issue might be, but he educates me on how to help myself and prevent further pain and injury in the future. You won't regret going to him. In fact, I'd argue that you might regret not meeting him. Thanks, Stanley! read more

I met Stan at the Diablo Rock Gym where we are both members. We know the same people at the gym and Stan heard I had sprained my ankle recently while climbing in Yosemite. Without any hesitation he did a cursory examination of my ankle for me and gave me exercises to start with and advance to as it healed. It took maybe 10 minutes for him to go over everything with me but I've been doing these exercises and getting results! I would definitely recommend Forsyth Personal Training, they know their stuff and are the kind of people that are in the business because they want to help others get back up and feel better again. read more

Stanley Forsyth and his regular "Balance Class" at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Walnut Creek, CA, along with Weight Watchers have turned my life around. My pain management doctor wants to meet Stanley Forsyth now that I go to my regular pain medicine visits without pain and have had a reduced my pain medication. I have had chronic lower back pain (spondilolythesis of L4 and L5) and have been treated for it for more than 12 years. Since beginning to go to regular "Balance Class" and beginning to loose weight I live PAIN FREE almost all the time. Stanley's holistic approach to physical therapy has many of the same type of exercises I have been given in many other prescribed therapy sessions, but makes them easy to do without anything but a chair to sit it and stand behind and a wall to walk along. Most exercises can be done any where and any time. The name Balance Class fits exactly what I need. Most of my worst pain has come after my falling down. I have osteopenia and my mother has osteoperosis. I thought, "What if I could balance better and not fall down?!" So I joined the once a week class. From toe to head, Stanley teaches us simple exercises that strengthen the entire body so that it will be strengthened and balanced. And if you loose your balance you also have the strength to right yourself again without falling! Stanley does other individual therapy with injured persons. And gives individual help to those of us in the Balance Class. I would highly recommend Stanley Forsyth as a physical therapist to others. read more

Here's some advice. Take care of your body. Every morning look at your body in the mirror and say, "Oh my, You look great! You know what, I'm doing something good for you today baby!" Now you have to mean it. Go for a walk, stretch, and eat healthy. It all pays off. It's like a savings account for that beautiful body of yours. How do I know this, because of Stanley Forsyth. I've known Stanley for years now, he's a personal trainer and a good friend. I feel like I'm short changing him when I describe him as a personal trainer. Why? Because quite honestly, he's much more than that. He's part physical therapist, part life coach, part cheer leader, and then he's this great personal trainer. Let me further explain. Stanley is genuine and knowledgeable. You're going to get sincere straight talk from him. (That's something I really appreciate). He always begins by asking me how I feel. How's my body? Do I hurt any place? Recently I mentioned that my hands were achy and stiff. Without missing a beat, he sits down next to me and starts going over some simple, easy to remember, stretches that I can do anytime that will help my hands. He's a gigantic storehouse of knowledge when it comes to keeping the body loose and stress free. He's always letting me know that there are many components to good health and that exercise, rest, and attitude are major factors in attaining your goal of better health. I highly recommend Stanley Forsyth as a personal trainer. He's great! read more

Stanley is the kind of quiet guy you'd feel comfortable training your grandmother. His focus is very one-on-one when it comes to diagnosing a physical need and helping you to understand what to do to heal after an injury or get back in shape after years of slacking off and not even trying. Best part: he LISTENS. No shouting, no pressure, just attentive care and helpful direction. He will get you to do what you need to do, because he's there to facilitate the healing process, not to make you hurt more. read more

This review is a long time coming - but well deserved! Stanley has been my Trainer for the last 4 years. He is now the Trainer to my 80 year old Mom. I can't say enough to describe my Appreciation for his Kindness, Knowledge & Patience. I have had many challenges with weight & range-of-motion, in fact, when we first began this journey I was 50 yrs old & using a walker. I have been to the medical specialists whom recommended cortisone injections or physical therapy. I opted for PT first - But it was Not until Stanley worked with me that I started to feel the difference. He comes to my home & Always makes me feel like I'm his Only client! He is so very compassionate & it comes through in all we do, he is never critical or judgemental. He Genuinely loves his craft & thrives on your progress. Stanley Is the reason I Actually Walked down a very long aisle on my own on my Wedding day! I do Not use a walker any longer & never needed cortesone injections which I credit to Stanley! I have great range-of-motion now & Especially because I have Continued to work with him. He is Strategic & does Not rush - He Assesses my needs Always so that we do what my body Needs which is very Professional and obviously has contributed to my Confidence in him! My Mom suffers with pain from past falls, as well as arthritic issues & typical range-of-motion issues associated with age. Firstly, she looks so forward to the sessions because he helps her feel much better & we all see the progress in her movement & decreased complaints of pain. Also, his demeanor is so pleasant which makes everything, even the 'good' pain in the process manageable. Stanley is an Intelligent, Experienced & Compassionate Trainer with a great educational background in Physical Therapy. He is also Very Generous with his knowledge & helpful to everyone - especially my husband who had a few sessions with him because of posture & range-of-motion, but due to his work schedule can't commit. Thankfully Stanley checks in occasionally & gives him homework. Enough can Not be said about Stanley! I plan to continue & set New goals with Stanley as I progress toward a more Physical & Healthier lifestyle! Thank You Stanley & God Bless You! read more

If you want to stay at the top of your sport or you're returning to fitness after a few weeks or months (cough cough years) of inactivity, hire Stanley. It's time for another review! I have been working with Stan for 3 years now and thingd are great. Over this time, Stan has helped me overcome several injuries, work through osteoarthritis, and figure out how to work on weight loss. Stan has a great attitude and is really in tune with what works for me and what doesn't. Also, Stan has kept our sessions fresh and challenging by introducing new work outs and new ideas. I appreciate his holistic approach, which incorporates all aspects of health and focuses on my overall wellbeing. I highly recommend Stan to anyone who is looking for a health "partner". read more

I started working with Stan after tearing a ligament in my foot while doing ballet. After being told by two doctors that the only way to heal was probably through surgery, I found Stan. He not only showed me exercises to strengthen the muscles around my injury, but also gave me exercises for the parts of my body that were out of alignment due to compensating for the injury. He works with your whole system rather than only focusing on the injured or weaker part. When one things goes wrong, it affects everything else. He is as knowledgeable as any doctor I've worked with, if not more so. At first, I was hesitant about working with a man, but he's particularly good with women. Although he pushed me really hard when he knew I could do the work, he was also calm and encouraging at the same time. I now call the exercises my "Stan Exercises" and still do them, even though I've moved out of the area. read more

I shared classes with Stanley back in middle school and Stanley was my paper boy. I was a bit on the irresponsible side in junior high and would sleep-in in the 6th grade and was late a lot. So when Stanley would deliver the paper in the morning to my house he would toss it at my bedroom window and wake me up. Sometimes I wouldn't wake up and if my window was open Stanley would throw the paper in my window to wake me. Stanley's probably the only reason I ever made to school on time or am able to get up even now. My Dad really didn't even read the news paper, but he kept subscribing out of fear I wouldn't wake up for school without Stanley. I have not seen Stanley in nearly 30 years. I was just thinking about him and googled him, it makes perfect sence that he would become a personal trainer. read more

Stanley is the type of guy that has a genuine interest in the health of his clients. Prior to meeting Stanley, I was dealing with an injured knee and severe shin splints. Stanley noticed me stretching and began correcting and improving the stretches that I was doing. He spent almost an hour working with me on his own time, clearly showing a passion and knowledge for physical therapy and training. I have trained with him several times since and always leave with new methods and training ideologies. He frequently checks on his clients as well, often approaching me at the gym and giving me advice and motivation. Stanley is a true professional that will take a personal and science based approach to whatever injury you may have. read more

Stanley is fantastic! I am/was recovering from pelvic fractures and Stan had so many great suggestions and options to offer to keep me active as I healed. Wow! Here is a professional healer in the health world that not only cares about your well being, but also has an incredible and diverse knowledge about the muscular system and how it needs to be used to prevent injuries. He has been me & my husband's go-to guy for injury prevention at Diablo Rock Gym. Stanley teaches a class using foam rollers, tennis balls, golf balls and therapeutic tools to help get your body back in shape, no matter what age you are. This class has been a life saver. I have been a swimmer for years and have never had the confidence to adventure into rock climbing, running and other high impact or weight bearing exercises due to tendon straining in my joints. Stanley teaches specific stretching to your personal needs. He helps you know your system and how to take care of it. Do yourself a favor and call him. Your fitness goals will be attainable before you know it. It may not look like you think. You may need someone to literally point out those obstacles and get your muscles talking when they have been screaming for too long...or asleep...in a cave. ..hybernating for years....growl. Time to move those feet like a deer on that high mountain, able to leap and jump without fear!!! read more

I'm an active software business executive and entrepreneur in my sixties. Although I'm generally in good health, I had neglected my physical fitness for some years and when I finally got back to the gym I fairly quickly injured myself (tom rotator cuff, groin sprain, torn biceps tendon). It took me about a year of physical therapy post surgeries to be in a position to start over. I wasn't about to make the same mistakes again and go about my fitness efforts unsupervised and without a good coach. I choose Stanley because one of his specialties is dealing with injuries. I feel very fortunate to have found my way to him as he's worked slowly and diligently to get me pain-free and rebuild my confidence. I average 3 sessions a week with Stanley (sometimes five and some weeks none) and in a year and half I've made what I consider to be remarkable progress in terms of flexibility and strength. Others have commented upon his quiet style, very supportive and nurturing approach as well as his knowledge---I agree with all those comments. In particular, I've learned a ton about my own body, how and why things work the way they do and how to get better. I'd recommend Stanley to anyone who wants a knowledgeable and skilled trainer with a wonderfully supportive style. read more
