He was also able to schedule the four of us with consecutive appointments. Eric told us that they will price match 1800 Contacts, so you can walk out with your contacts. Better service, better equipment (no puff and they can do the test without dilation if you prefer), kind and patient, great with kids (and adults that act like kids), fantastic selection of glasses and price match contacts.

In 2023, my total was: Frames: $210 Lenses: $60 Exam: $60 Total: $330 Fast forward to December 2025: Frames: $330 (same frames) Lenses: $100 Exam: $99 That's a massive jump in just two years. When I went to pick up my glasses (after waiting for them to come in), I questioned the pricing because I genuinely thought it might be a mistake. I was then told that since I "upgraded" after the first mis-order, I actually owe them more money. What?? The front desk told me the suggested retail was $264 and that they mark that up -- somehow that becomes over $330. Meanwhile, the suggested retail on the original frames is $227, which means they're marking them up over 45%. Just wow. I chose to leave without causing a scene, but the combination of repeated ordering errors, dismissive customer service, and dramatic price increases is unacceptable. Patients deserve accountability, transparency, and fair pricing. Unfortunately, I experienced none of that here. I will be taking my business elsewhere

I was quickly and warmly greeted by Allison and Neil and told I could help myself to look around and try on frames. I had walked almost the whole store when Emmanuel, the optician emerged. He could tell this was not something I enjoyed. He offered to help select some frames, which I graciously accepted. He asked a few questions about what I liked and didn't like and then presented me with a tray of options. One of which was EXACTLY the frame I had described to my husband I would want if I was designing my own- tortoise at the top of the frame and pink at the bottom. It was like they were made for me. We had shopped all the chain value priced eyewear stores thinking those would deliver the best value. In the end, because this shop took our eye insurance, I also purchased them for well below the low cost eyewear. So far, our experiences have been very positive, but recently we spent a lot of money there, and when we went to pick up the glasses, they just handed them to us without so much as a case. I have some extras at home, but I remember that the cases they provided in the past have been nice. So I went back and explained that this was bothersome to me, and given the amount we spent, it seemed like a small ask. They explained that since we didn't buy the frame there, even though that particular redo cost over $1,200 (yes, very expensive) they don't give a case. I explained that this was a unique situation where the original case was lost as were the glasses that precipitated us coming in. It didn't matter to them, so I walked out and will not be going back. Which is a shame because we like the Doctor and both the people that are front of house. Oh well. Penny wise and pound foolish. The case probably cost them $20 max, but now we will just move our business up the street to someone who values our business.

I didn't have to wait long for the technician to perform all the pre eye test, then I was seen by Dr. Matthew Helsing to preform the eye exam. Dr. Matthew Helsing was friendly, kind and very professional. He took time to listen to all my concerns and questions. The whole appointment was timely and I felt great about the whole experience. I brought my entire family here for years and left glowing reviews--until the original doctor left. What remains is an operation defined by disorganization, poor service, and zero accountability. The exam itself was mediocre but acceptable. Everything after that was not. I did learn that I now have slightly less than perfect vision but was told I dont really need distance lenses. Good to know. I waited roughly 30 minutes post-exam without acknowledgment, then spent over an hour trying to order glasses while staff repeatedly abandoned me to fix another employees' mistakes. In total, I was in the office more than 2.5 hours. I clearly and repeatedly ordered Costa sunglasses with only a reading prescription in the bottom--no distance correction whatsoever. This was confirmed verbally. I paid ~$500 out of pocket and was told they'd be ready January 8. January 15th comes-No call. No update. The patient portal showed a cancelled order and a replacement order--with no explanation. My calls and voicemails went unanswered. When I finally reached two weeks later, I was met with excuses ("We had Wi-Fi issues so we couldn't check our voicemail"). I was told my glasses had been there over a week and they had tried to call me--I asked what number they called, they gave me my wife's number, despite that being corrected multiple times. I had my wife check her phone and voicemail--they never actually contacted either of us. When I finally picked up the glasses--over a month after the appointment--they were made incorrectly, with a distance prescription I explicitly declined. At that point, I requested a refund. I was told they couldn't do that and a manager would call me... and once again, they confirmed the wrong phone number. Absolutely helpless. So far.. No call. No refund. I fear I am going to have to down there every day until I the "manager" is working when I get there. This is not a one-off mistake; it's a pattern of negligence, poor training, and indifference to patients' time and money. If you care about your eyes--or basic professionalism--take your business elsewhere.

It's a pristine white and black building on US 301 near the corner of Eiland Boulevard. I never thought in a million years I would ever need to visit. After numerous bouts of Covid-19, everything that could go wrong medically has almost assuredly happened to me. Within the last two years, I went from being told "it looks like you may have the early development of cataracts," to "your cataracts appear to be rapidily expanding and you need immediate cataract treatment." Like so many others, I immediately set an appointment three months away for "the Big Eye Care Institute" in the Tampa Bay region. Little did I know how cold, seemingly uncaring, rushed, and very, very expensive they would be - all without wanting to check and see how much my insurance policy would cover. Would it surprise you that they came in saying anywhere from $2,500 to $4,500....per eye needing treatment? It had to be paid upfront before any additional steps could be taken. I had to find somewhere else to go, and fast! Enter THE EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA and DR. AHAD MAHOOTCHI! You talk about a Group of Professionals amongst Professionals! From the moment I walked through the front door, every single person greeted me pleasantly and seemed to be thoroughly vested in making sure my every needs were met. I could tell they really cared about my concerns of going blind. Receptionists, Eye Technicians, Dr. Haung who consulted and worked on my case with Dr. Mahootchi, Linda in Financial Services who worked with my insurance company and booked my two surgeries, and the secondary SAME DAY OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CENTER right behind THE EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA - and each person at that facility from Dawn the Receptionist & Scheduler, to the Pre-Surgical Team, the Anesthesiology Physician, the OR Team, the Recovery Room Nurses and even the Nurses who twice escorted me out to my awaiting wife and ride home - nothing at this REMARKABLE FACILITY WAS LESS THAN PERFECTION! I wish I could name each and every one of the people who works with DRS. MAHOOTCHI and HUANG at THE EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA. They are all really that great, and you need to go here for any and all eye care you may need. My two surgeries lasted probably about 15 to 20 minutes each. I was lightly sedated and could walk to and from the OR without feeling any pain. The healing process involved having my eyes dialated each time, and that lasted for approximately 2 days after the surgery. However, I could see nearly 95 percent better in each eye immediately following each surgery. And no uncomfortable eye patch following either surgery. Within a week, I was back to 20-30 vision! I'd bet it's probably even better now!!! There really are not enough words to say THANK YOU to the entire EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA & SAME DAY OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CENTER TEAMS!!!
