Pasteis de Belem is considered the place where the Pastel de Nata originated. This location opened…read morein 1837! The history here is amazing! You can either just go to the counter and order pastries to go, or choose to sit at a table. We decided to get a table. After a short wait, you're escorted into a large dining area with table service. We obviously ordered their famous pastry. In addition, we also ordered a Travesseiro and a Mil Folhas. While the Pastel de Nata's were excellent, I'd definitely recommend ordering the Mil Folhas, which was so delicious! This is very similar to a Napoleon that we have in the US, but just tasted so good! Just a tip...If you go here, make sure you check out the Jeronimos Monastery up the street, it's beautiful!

The crust is just so light and flakey! Make sure you know what line you're in because the long line is typically the one into the quick counter and I wanted to see the beautiful main counter, which was the middle line. The line for tables obviously is longer but honestly, if you're just grabbing one or two, you don't need to do that. We got ours and ate them standing in the main counter area, which was absolutely beautiful. Make sure you add a little sprinkling of powdered sugar and cinnamon. A Portuguese woman actually made sure I did that when she saw me about to eat it!

They spoke English (not expected, but pleasant break for our Google Translate app) and offered to-go cups/containers, which was great for our continued adventures. Inside was cozy and had window reading nooks, a few couches and chairs, and a designated area for those with computers to sit. Fun signage and a covered glass enclosure showing off all of their amazing baked goods. Our cold brews with oat milk were smooth and delicious and the croissant with scrambled egg sandwiches were huge (2 meals for me) and the eggs cooked to perfection. Prices were a tad higher than what we've had in Portugal thus far at mom and pop cafes, but still less than in the USA.

I came here hoping to find a place to get some work done and this cafe delivered. I got here around…read morelunch time and it was quite busy, with lots of patrons working. I got their salad bar plus and Americano. The prices were very reasonable. If I wasn't so stuffed from all the food I had before coming here, I definitely would've gotten one of their buns. The only apprehension I have about working here again is the lack of plugs. Although I did see the staff offer to pull out extension cords for other customers. Great service, food, drinks, and ambiance. Can't wait to come back here when I'm in Lisbon again.
