    The most beautiful studio!
    Orla T.

Absolutely loved this place! Was visiting Charleston for a couple of days and as a reformer Pilates lover this was top of my list. Studio is so beautiful and received a warm southern charm welcome! The teacher Catherine was amazing, led a stellar class, gave great modifications and I loved every minute of it! So grateful to have gotten the chance to have taken a class here, cant wait to return once I'm back in Charleston!

Only qualm would be needing to check in with a staff member each visit. Room for improvement could be a card that you get for the term of your pass. Otherwise, it was seamless! There's a great turf area for stretching/any kind of free weight or circuit you'd like to throw together. Free weight area has plenty of space to always get a mirror spot. Cardio equipment is a bit on the older side but did its job. I did a good amount of running and intervals, and didn't run into any issues. I will absolutely be back when I'm in the area next! And highly recommend.

Most members don't re rack their weights and staff doesn't seem to care. Tried to cancel my membership at the front desk they told me I'd have to cancel online. So I cancelled my membership online and for 3 months hear nothing from anyone associated with O2. I recently got a phone call telling me I owed them for multiple months in unpaid dues. I explained the situation to the team member who then claimed they still needed to charge me for the month after I cancelled. When I refused the team member told me I'd be hearing from a lawyer lol ($64.99 was the charge). When I signed up it was a one year contract, when I cancelled my membership I was onto my 3rd year at the gym. This is a terribly run facility w an equally ill trained staff, stay away.

Under David's guidance, he has prepared me for numerous surf trips. His tailored fitness routines not only enhanced my overall strength and endurance but also contributed significantly to my performance on the waves. In my 40s, I decided to take on the challenge of starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). David's guidance was invaluable in adapting my fitness routine to complement the demands of this passion. What sets David apart is his ability to personalize workouts to achieve specific goals. Under his guidance, I've experienced noticeable gains, especially in my chest (4 inches) and arms (2 inches on each). I'm stronger in my 40s than ever before. My teenage son works out with Oliver (one of David's trainers) and we have done the Chad 1000x twice together at Drake Fitness. Working with David Drake at Drake Fitness has been a game-changer for my health and fitness. His knowledge, adaptability, and commitment to personalized training have made a significant impact on my strength, endurance, and overall well-being. Mobility and strength should go hand in hand when trained. The Get-up is a proper expression of them both!

I've been to the PF in west Ashley, Mt P and now James island... and JI has to be the worst. I wish…read morethere was more room in the back for stretching and floor work. Instead hey have a few scattered machines that you have to set your mats in the middle of. This place gets packed fast during peak hours. About 5P during the week nearly every machine is full (something to keep in mind when you join and note that it will be worse at the start of the new year as people try to tackle those new year resolutions. ) I ended up switching gyms during the summer when they offered free memberships to teens. If it wasn't busy before it was then as parents used it as a daycare and you would have groups of 3-6 teenagers all hanging out, crowding machines but not working out. It was a nightmare. I don't know why this one is so much worse than the other locations but I hope they figure it out. This is also advertised as a 24hr gym but they close at 7p on the weekends. There are no scales in the gym to track your progress because I was told it might offend some people. (You're either in the gym to be loose weight or build muscle so scales are important to have.) Over the weekend they installed new equipment. That has bumped my rating up from 2 to 3 stars.

If you live or work downtown, this gym is your best budget option, as it's a short drive on the James Island Connector, and peninsula gyms are pricey. This is also a good gym option for those visiting Folly Beach who may want to get their workout in. The eight TVs on the walls have a great variety of trash TV for your workout enjoyment, including Bravo, Food Network, and several ESPN channels. I appreciated that none of the TVs were set to news, because I like to escape the dumpster fire of the world when I work out. I have a Planet Fitness Black Card membership, and this is certainly one of the nicest locations in Charleston.

Here's why: 1) Equipment: pretty good selection actually. Lots of free weight options, including barbells, a squat rack, benches, a deadlift area with bumper plates, dumbbells up to 100lbs; plus many machines, including cable machines, and quite a few cardio options. The high point of this gym is definitely the variety of training options. 2) Ambiance: needs work. The whole gym is dark and a bit dingy; the bathrooms are filthy (well, at least the men's was), there's water and who knows what else on the floor and many lockers were broken; equipment is in general disarray, and some machines don't function exactly right. All in all, this gym needs a tune-up! 3) Convenience: 24 hours, close to many downtown hotels, some parking out front. All in all, an ok gym, but definitely needs some TLC!
