I'm dropping my review down by a star. I have been here over a year now and while I like the gym…read moretheir AC is horrendous. I understand it's a big facility, of course everyone working out is going to heat the place up... so you would think they'd invest in a better unit and or run it colder. Within five minutes of being there, before I start working out on occasions, I'm already sweating. I don't remember it being this bad last summer. And that's the thing- it's not even summer yet so how much worse is this going to get? The staff remains nice and friendly. There has been no update in the equipment in the last year I've attended so half of it is new and half is outdated. That being said everything works well and there is something for everyone. Even when it is busy there is always equipment or space available for you to move. I've heard other members complain about the teens hanging around. While I haven't experienced that myself yet I can only pray this doesn't turn into another PF. That's why I left that gym- because parents used it as a daycare and instead of the teens working out they just hogged equipment to yap. I'll update over the summer.

Good gym, but staff is horrible. For reference, I only workout here on weekends. I left my stuff in…read morea locker with a lock on it, and the next time I came, the lock had been cut and everything removed. When I asked staff why this happened, they told me that you can't leave stuff in the locker, you have to take it with you so you don't take one up. What's the point of a locker then? On top of that, I was never notified of this when I got my membership. Extremely dumb rule and no other gym does this.

This was one of the most challenging workouts I've done in a long time! My only complaint is that i wish it was more affordable but you get what you pay for here. Love this new gym concept in Mount Pleasant! Yes, a membership is expensive, but I think of it as…read moregetting 2 fitness studios for the price of one, as the Hy and Lo classes are both very different and work out my body in completely different ways. I love HyLo for the showers alone. The women's shower is a full room, with marble walls, and all the accoutrements you'd need--soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, towels, and even a scale. My only complaint is that they don't have makeup remover or any hair products in the bathroom when I'm getting ready after my workout, but I just bring what I need from home. The HY classes really work you in the cardio department. They all use a combination of spin bikes, rowing machines, free weights / kettlebells, ropes, TRX things (idk what they're called), and body weight to perform a lot of exercises in a short period of time with a lot of energy. Similar to what I assume some crossfit classes include. The LO classes use a special board to use your body weight and weighted poles or rubber bands to strengthen your body using your own body weight. This is most similar to pilates, barre, or yoga. All of which I'm terrible at, as I have the upper body strength of a newborn baby. Both classes totally kick my butt and make me feel like I've really worked my body hard! Highly recommend!

We selected this day for my first time (read: I am super out-of-shape, do not go to the gym, etc.) because it was low on cardio, focused on different stations of strength-based work, and easy to be modified. For example, if you move to a station where you are to lift weights, you could select 10 pound weights or 30 (or whatever) that is best suited for your needs. I wasn't nervous about coming because I've been to gyms of similar formats before. I was weary of embarrassing my friend in front of her other friends and coaches due to my lack of physical ability, but she assured me that no one would be judgmental and everyone would be encouraging. She was exactly right. Even better, no one seemed to give a rat's ass about what I was doing. And I mean that in a positive way. How nice to be able to work out and not feel like anyone is looking at you. That said, the coaches did keep an eye on me, to make sure I was doing the correct format or to offer me tips and modifications when it was obvious I needed it. I really enjoyed training at F45 this week, and I wish I lived in town so I could go back more often. I might want to check with the facility to see if they offer packages where you can purchase like a 10-class pass or something, because then I could join my friend when I visit from out of town or am home for holidays. I highly encourage anyone in Mount Pleasant or who lives in the area of an F45 to try out a class. You will not regret it!

I usually frequent the West Ashley location, but it is only a few months old so it's not yet on Yelp. Emily Valentine teaches core vinyasa on Sundays, and it is always a great time! I always leave feeling like I really worked out my whole body and I am ALWAYS sore the next few days, but it's a good feeling because I know I worked hard in Emily's class! I also highly recommend their assisted deep stretch class. It's very relaxing and it feels so good to stretch and take your mind off of everything going on. The studio spaces are always clean and well taken care of. There's only been a couple times where a class was really crowded, but we always make it work!

All that could have been ok if the class had been ... enjoyable enough to do. Why did the teacher have a headpiece for screaming instructions, when there is no way the room wouldn't be covered just fine by her voice. I tried for about fifteen minutes, trying to follow her sometimes muted screaming by looking around me. I gave up and went to the front desk where they kindly said this was normal and offered me a cup of earplugs to pick from. I took them and used them for about three minutes when I gave up. The place purposefully makes it so loud that they have odes of earplugs in a cute little jar on the counter. That's just messed up. I usually do vinyasa flow, my friend does Bikram and neither of us really knew what this class was. Worst $30 one a class pass ever.
