A Transformational Fitness Experience at Club Pilates, Princeton Market Fair…read more Nestled in the heart of Princeton Market Fair between Starbucks and LensCrafters. They offer tons of parking and easy outdoor access or also access through the mall. Having been a dedicated gym-goer, lifting heavyweights and embracing high-intensity workouts, I found myself prone to injuries that hindered my progress. Enter Club Pilates - a fitness haven that not only redefines the conventional workout but also serves as a sanctuary for rehabilitation and holistic well-being. The strategic location within Princeton Market Fair makes it easily accessible, sandwiched between the familiar aroma of Starbucks and the clarity offered by LensCrafters. What sets Club Pilates apart is its unique approach to fitness. Rather than focusing solely on building muscle through intense resistance, Club Pilates employs techniques that emphasize lengthening muscles while concurrently enhancing strength. This paradigm shift was a game-changer for me, especially considering my history of injuries from traditional weightlifting. The instructors at Club Pilates bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise, guiding members through a curated series of exercises that target core strength, flexibility, and overall balance. I found this approach not only effective in overcoming my injuries but also in sculpting a leaner and more resilient physique. The welcoming atmosphere at Club Pilates creates a sense of community, fostering support among members on their fitness journeys. The well-maintained studio and state-of-the-art equipment contribute to an environment that motivates and inspires. I took a break from Gratitude, glad to be back. I'm sore everywhere, but in a good way, and have…read morejoked that it's my "death by yoga" class, as in the "la petite mort" version. Gemma's vinyasa classes are hard, including her "gentle vinyasa" class. You will sweat buckets, and that's no exaggeration. Maybe there are a handful of people who don't break a sweat in her extremely popular classes, but I'm not one of them. Some things to keep in mind: 1. Show up 5-10 minutes early to get your spot, it will fill up. 2. The class might start a few minutes late, end 10-20 minutes later than scheduled--important if you're feeding a meter. 3. Check your ego & anxiety at the door. There will be people more fit than you, at 1/3 or 2x your age--we are each going for the same reasons: mental & physical health. Do your modifications, take a breather, it's all cool, no judgement. If someone does judge you, it's their problem, not yours, so who cares? 4. Take your time. I'm no weakling & have taken well over a thousand yoga classes during the past 3 years, in addition to my other fitness routines, and these classes are still hard. 5. Drink plenty of water 6. Enjoy the happy glow that can last at least another full day Bonus: my husband is happy that I'm enjoying yoga again, instead of feeling grumpy due to issues at another studio. There's no sink, so bring a spray bottle & wash cloth to mop up yourself afterwards. Single classes are $12, a 20 pass is $200, unlimited is $95; prices cheaper if you're a student. Entrance on Tulane.

Customization to anyone's special or unique needs is the differentiator. Donna trained with Ramona from Joseph Pilate's studio so she follows the method and does true pilates, where some folks hang a pilates shingle and do there own rendition. Donna is also schooled in massage and is an expert regarding aroma and other alternative therapies. Today I almost skipped Pilates because I had horrible back pain (I usually don't have a bad back). I took the elevator because I couldn't walk the stairs and I could barely walk in hunched over. I had taken ibuprofen and donna rubbed some essential oil into my back. she customized a series of exercises with small movements that didn't seem like much. after 45 minutes, I was walking much better and took the stairs down and feel far more functional. whatta difference! I am usually very strong and do a "standard/advanced" workout but today was a totally different need and Donna proved why I keep coming back and she is worth the premium.
