I wish I could rate as a 3.5 star. We stopped by Fork & Vine in Lenoir City for lunch today. Overall, we thought the food was good, maybe even very good. I also appreciate supporting locally owned restaurants over national chains whenever I can. All things being equal, I'll choose the small business every time. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a small town Italian restaurant, and the service was perfectly acceptable. I don't have any complaints about the cleanliness, the staff, or the quality of the food. My only criticism is the value. For lunch, my wife and I ordered two iced teas, Chicken Alfredo with chicken, and Chicken Parmesan. Both entrees were $24 each. Our bill before tax and tip was $61. By the time tax and a standard tip were added, we were at about $74. The portions were average. They weren't small, but they certainly weren't generous either. The meals did not include a side salad, and we were served one small piece of bread each. If you wanted more bread, there was an additional charge. If I could make one suggestion to the owner, it wouldn't be to lower the prices. Instead, I would focus on increasing the value. At these price points, especially in a small town, I think every entree should include unlimited bread and a side salad. That small addition would completely change my perception of the experience. As it stands, I don't see myself returning unless the value proposition changes. Not because the restaurant isn't good. Not because it wasn't clean. Not because the food wasn't enjoyable. It's simply because I don't think the overall experience matches the price. Had we added salads and extra bread, our lunch would have been pushing $100 after tax and tip, and that's difficult to justify when there are other restaurants in the area offering a more complete meal for similar or even lower prices. I genuinely hope they succeed because locally owned restaurants are important, and I'd much rather support them than a chain restaurant. The food was good, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. I simply think the value proposition needs to improve. If every entree came with a side salad and unlimited bread, I would gladly give them another try. read more

We were so hungry, and Italian food sounded great. The fellow who came over to our table had a flat affect; his manner wasn't rude but he definitely was not friendly. He probably was tired? We ordered the spinach artichoke dip appetizer which was DEVINE! Husband then ordered the pasta pomodoro with sausage with which he was very disappointed. He said it tasted "okay", nothing spectacular. I ordered the Vodka di Gallo. The pasta was very dry, what little sauce had been put on it had completely absorbed into the pasta. I asked for more sauce. A lady delivered a teeny bowl of sauce, I was surprised that they would be so restrictive with their sauce! I mixed it up as best I could. We were never offered Parmesan cheese, so I requested some. The lady returned with the TINIEST little round dish of granulated cheese. I dumped the teeny tiny amount proffered onto my entree, and giggled. I took the attached picture to show the tiny amount of cheese that I was given. My pasta was flavorless, so I left it as you see pictured. We asked for the check and departed. As I went to post this review I read other reviews about bread being given with meals. We were offered no bread. It seemed to us the staff was ordered to be very miserly as opposed to what in a normal Italian restaurant was happily offered. Bread on the table. Cheese offered when the entree is served. Your server checking on how your meal was. NOPE. We had to flag down a different server for help. According to the reviews, they used to offer bread. And now they don't. Wow. They give you a miserly amount of sauce. Parmesan cheese only is given if you flag someone down and ask for it, (it was never offered), and when you do get your cheese allowance, it is a thimbleful-as evidenced in my picture. When I went into type up my review just now, I was horrified by their bad health department rating. Yikes! If we had read that before we chose to go there, we NEVER would have entered. I hope the owner reads the reviews and makes improvements. Health department corrections needed immediately. Patrons are your profit. What a shame. read more

We showed up on a quiet Saturday evening, hoping for a relaxed, memorable meal. Atmosphere & First Impressions Stepping inside, the décor felt a bit in flux: I saw hints of old‑school Tuscan with red walls, exposed brick, and classic wood tables, but then a modern rustic cut‑wood feature wall that I absolutely loved. The mix left me wondering exactly what aesthetic they were aiming for. The bar feels cozy but somewhat tight (probably a product of spatial constraints). The restrooms struck me as serviceable but in need of maintenance--nothing unhygienic, just fixes and updates. On the bright side, they have a patio, and it's dog‑friendly (huge plus in my book). The crowd skewed older early in the evening, which isn't surprising at 5:30PM. Some patrons were rather "grumpy old curmudgeons," and I felt for the staff handling complaints. Salads: Caesar (sides) -- Crisp greens, house dressing, plenty of shaved asiago. Their croutons seemed to be made from house focaccia; I would've preferred them a bit more toothsome/crunchy, but they were far from disappointing. Entrées: Harvest Sachetti & Romano‑Crusted Chicken Parmesan Harvest Sachetti (butternut squash purée, sachetti pasta, brown butter fig balsamic sauce, candied pecans, fried sage) was lovely, but felt dessert‑leaning in sweetness. My husband commented, "It's very sweet." The highlight came when I got a bit of the ricotta tucked inside--then the bite elevated. I just wished for a bit more savory contrast. My husband, son and I went in recently for our anniversary dinner. We've been in here over a year ago for the lunch service and were not impressed at all however, thought we would be fair and give it another shot for dinner. Unfortunately we were disappointed yet again. I will say it's a very nice little place and our server was super friendly and attentive. The focaccia bread they bring you to start was tasty and fresh. We then ordered their mozzarella sticks appetizer. Those were fabulous. Nice large portion and stringy/melty just like you want them. I ordered the pistachio chicken, my husband a pepperoni pizza and my son ordered a barbecue chicken flatbread made into a pizza which came with a two dollar up charge. Not sure what the point of that is. My chicken was rather overdone, dry and on the verge of burnt. I did appreciate the fact that the sauce came on the side so it wasn't soaked and sopping wet but nothing special. The pistachio/goat cheese topping was very minimal and had no goat cheese save for one tiny piece. My husband's pizza was in his words. "OK but not worth the $$", scarce on toppings and flavor, but cooked well. Same with my son's pizza. He said you wouldn't know it was barbecue as you couldn't taste any bbq. Contrary to information on some other sites, Fork and Vine is NOT closed. It is under new ownership and doing just fine. We went there for lunch today and Will and the staff could not have done a better, more gracious job. Hats off to our waiter, Troy, who took excellent care of us, as he had on past occasions. We started with the Mussels, which were delicious. Some toasted bread to soak up the broth, it was a great start. My wife had the scallops over risotto, perfectly cooked and seasoned, with a broccolini side. I had the Eggplant Rolatini. The eggplant was cooked just right, the breading had a nice flavor and was crisp, rolled and covered with sauce and mozzarella. Again, great execution and very flavorful! A side of spaghetti rounded the dish out. I'm sure that the dessert offerings are as good as our mains were, but by then we were too full to even think about dessert. We're lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber so close, definitely give them a try. read more

If I could give a ZERO I would! 12:30 Saturday afternoon HH & I sat down to try out this new restaurant. (2 months opened) I have a medical tea I drink and have it in a closed metal handled cup. The waiter arrived and questioned my mug, I explained it's reason. He persisted in his questioning, I explained again where upon he stated it was against "Health code". I even opened the container to show him two tea bags! He said he didn't need to see that!!! I explained it was NOT any violation. He then said it would have to be removed!!! I asked for the Manager, he said HE was. Then a man in a gray chef's coat arrived and said it was HIS rule! He then said he was the owner. Now we have had about 5 minutes of the back and forth, my husband got upset. I said 'Fine, we don't need to eat here' Hubby said 'I'm out of here' he then said this stupidity was more of the CA crap infiltrating East TN. As he was stepping out the door ...while I was still standing with the owner.. the owner said (direct quote) towards my husband : "Fine, get your ASS out of here!" I told the owner "That was uncalled for". I then walked out, and said we will not be back ever! The owner doesn't know how well I'm connected and his business will suffer! My wife and I stoped in for a bite to eat. I thought the atmosphere was very. icily done but not over the top. we sat at the bar and were promptly welcomed by Troy. We both ordered a salad and entry to go along with our bottle of wine. We sat for about 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, and only after confronting the host did someone finally take our drink order. Ordered salads with dinners, answered dressing request, then they never showed up, the food runners practically dropped/slammed the plates down, and we pointed out that we were missing a set of silverware twice- that never came -- I had to grab one from the bar ourselves. When we finally got a waitress, she was overly sweet, but the whole vibe just screamed "we don't really care." We ate at the F&V last Friday & made a 5:45 pm reservation, due to demand we had to sit at a high top at the bar. We arrived on time and were seated right away. The bartender waited on fairly quickly. We ordered a couple of drinks and he returned with them pretty quickly as the restaurant wasn't full yet. He assumed we were ready to order but didn't go over any specials nor fish of the day, I felt rushed and ordered the Colossal Lasagne & my wife the eggplant rollatini. My beer was not cold but served in a frosted glass so it chilled a bit. He brought over a small piece of I think focaccia bread. The bread was good but he served it with olive oil without balsamic vinegar which is standard at Italian restaurants. The lasagna was a heathy serving but the meat sauce didn't have chop meat but some type of stranded beef similar to flank or skirt steak not bad but not enough meat. My wife didn't care for the rollatini however I ate the leftover and thought it was good even though I never order it. I normally tip 20% for decent service which I did, however from what you'll see in the below photo is that they figure the suggested tip on food, drink, alcohol tax, standard tax, and the CC service charge. To add a tip to a 10% tax standard tax, 15% alcohol tax, and 3% CC fee is what I would consider unethical and not customary. So look at your bill and tip accordingly! He made sure our waters were full and kept checking on us without being overbearing, definitely hard to do as a server. Everyone at our table loved their dishes but dessert took the prize! The special for the week was the limoncello mascarpone cake, hopefully they bring it back soon because it was to die for. I would have put 5 stars but our only complaint was we saw one of the servers, who had glasses and a brownish red hair in a ponytail walking with a bowl of food and completely coughed all over it without covering her mouth and then proceeded to take the bowl of food to an outside table, it made us worry a little bit about what happens back in the kitchen that we don't see. I had the 50-layer lasagna, which was extremely dense and had very little filling, just layer after layer of dense pasta. Had a few bites, didn't bother with the rest. Partner had the flat bread which was OK. The other couple had the scallops, which were fine, but the special beef ribs were tough and had a fair amount of fat and gristle. It was our first time dining here and the food and service was divine and we loved the atmosphere. Very romantic honestly. Recommended meals and appetizers were spot on delicious. I do not think you can go wrong with anything you choose to eat here as all the food that passed us to other tables looked amazing.
