I had an accident in Cape San Blas while there on vacation and was advised by my out of state insurance company that I could choose any body shop that I wanted and allowed me to do my research on who I wanted to use. I contacted 5 Star first because of proximity to my car which was parked at the beach house that I had rented In CSB for my vacation. I explained my situation and that if I selected them, my insurance company would send an adjuster to their location, etc. I provided my insurance company name and without putting me on hold, they began to discuss amongst themselves "my weird insurance company" and "if the damage is heavy we probably dont want it". Then " just get her name and number and we will call her back" then they proceeded to hang up on me. I found this brief experience with them unprofessional and to be frank, I was shocked by their unwillingness to help me considering I was 6.5 hours from home and stranded. Needless to say I gave my business to someone else.

They were in the middle of nowhere on the way back to their condo late at night. They pulled the car over on the side of the road. The next morning I found Greg on the internet under "Mobile Car Repair Service Port St Joe" his business listed as FastCare Mobile Repair https://fastcaremobilerepair.com/ Best call i've ever made. Greg and I communicated over multiple text messages, and Greg did exactly as he said he would do. Greg discovered that the car had a stuck throttle body, that caused the fail save mode to engage. He was able to get my Expedition back up and running, and saved my daughter and her friends vacation. If I lived anywhere in their service area, i'd never take my car to a dealer or other auto service repair shop. He is a great value and gets it done.

They couldn't bump me up in line because the other jobs paid more. That's crazy. So instead of my dog being trapped in the car an emergency they chose money over people. I thought, how could this day be any worse? I went to the vet and he took care of Toby with great care and understanding. I was in tears when I got back in my car. I knew I had to take care of the tire issue and went to BJ's at 4:30 in the pouring rain. I got there and they were busy as always and I pulled up and got out and approached two of the young men who work there. I couldn't even speak but finally got the words out about my tire light. One of them said, "I am so sorry for your loss. May I have your keys?" He directed me inside and said they would take care of checking the tire. Fifteen minutes later he came to tell me that there was a small screw in a rear tire and that it was already plugged and back on the car which was being brought around to the front entry. Surprised with the care and speed taken with my situation, I asked what I owed. "Not a thing", he replied. I have always been pleased with service at BJ's but on this occasion I was overwhelmed. I am blessed to know the kind of people that work in this business. To be good at one's job is one thing. To be caring and concerned with the needs of your customers - a whole different level!

There are inherent risk when traveling no matter the distance and I've found the difference between…read moredisaster and disappointment can be just a minor setback depending on how you address it and of course having an understanding that life is going to throw you a few curb balls now and then. I try and put things in perspective, I think challenges and adventures are one in the same especially if you keep a cool head and figure it out. Flat-towing my 2004 Jeep Wrangler behind my RV is a piece of cake but it does require preparation and some thought to do it safely, since each vehicle is unique and requires a number of procedures to protect people and property and when something goes wrong it's important to find the root cause and take corrective measures to prevent it from reoccurring. My most recent adventure and what got me here at Merrell's Automotive is somewhat puzzling although there are a few theories, one is that the front tire on my tow vehicle failed while dragging it from Louisiana to the Gulf Coast of Florida, fortunately it didn't complete fail and I made it safely to my destination. The second theory is that I overlooked something and failed to completely unlock my steering before hitting the road, this is not something I want to admit but it's a consideration that I have to address and make adjustments, maybe I need a checklist, maybe the entire process is too complicated to keep mentally I'll definitely reevaluate my preparation and figure it out. Fortunately Merrell's Automotive is located less than 3 miles from the campground, a quick call put my mind at ease, I dropped in and the staff treated me like an old friend. They quickly went to work and swapped out the bad tire with my brand new spare and of course offered an experienced explanation of why they felt the tire failed and it was similar to my second theory unfortunately, but hey it is what is it and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I really want to say thanks to the entire staff - their professional and friendly service made the experience much less painful and the care they showed my rims and tires is so much appreciated. I wish I had this caliber of automotive repair shop near my home. Once the repair was completed the total out the door price was only $10.00 (what only $10.00 am I back in Mayberry at Wally's Filling Station)? I certainly couldn't leave without buying lunch for the attendant since lunchtime was fast approaching, I know he appreciated that as much I appreciated his help and his attention to detail. I hope you never have an emergency like mine but if you do I hope you find yourself here...
