I then asked, "Do you have a policy about your employees needing to be vaccinated?" "No," she said. It is not a HIPAA violation to ask your massage therapist whether or not they are vaccinated. It is also not a HIPAA violation for the managers of this practice to ask their employees if they have been vaccinated. The answer is yes or no. If clients ask, a mature, professioal manager would simply say, "We do not require vaccination from our employees but you're free to ask your individual therapist if she is. I cannot share that information." Not only did this unmasked manager spew at me obsessively repeating "HIPAA violation" she also responded, "No, we aren't" when I said that we are in the middle of a pandemic. Really? A quick glance at the headlines, let alone a quick check of the MA website on COVID transmission, shows that we are very much in the middle of a pandemic. She also yelled "THIS IS AMERICA" at me at one point... all of which leads me to assume that this person is not getting her pandemic information from reliable sources. Massage at Elements involves being in a tiny room with another person in extremely close proximity for an hour. I will get massages from a practice where the managers and therapists freely share their vaccination status and understand that we are absolutely in the middle of a pandemic. Before I went in I wasn't even able to bend down or do much moving at all without hurting my lower back. Immediately after the massage I tested and attempted to stretch my hamstrings - I could! I can feel my muscles are still a little tight in the lower back but I know I can at least work on them now with stretching and yoga. I have never written a negative review but thought that my experience might be beneficial for others to read as they are deciding where to book an appointment for spa services. I had an appointment scheduled for a Saturday at 9:45am. At 9:17am, while I was en route to my appointment, I received a call from the owner that she was having car troubles and that she was waiting for AAA and would be in late but expected to be there soon. I had brunch plans later that day and did not want to go to the appointment and wait, given that the timing of the resolution of the car issues was uncertain. I was unable to come in later that day and the owner did not have her appointment book with her at that time, so we couldn't confirm an appointment for the following week. We agreed that we would reschedule the appointment for another time. It was an inconvenience for me, but I understand that people have car troubles, particularly in the winter in New England. I called a few times the following week; no one picked up, and I was unable to leave a message, as the mailbox was full. After ultimately getting through on the phone, the owner, Rosana, disputed that she called me the day of the appointment, and is saying that she was there that day and that no one in the spa had car issues. This is clearly contrary to my experience, not to mention my phone log (the call was coming from them to me, not the other way around). She indicated that because I had called them and I had been running late on the day of the appointment (again, it was the other way around), I could reschedule for a $25 rescheduling fee. I was honestly shocked by this, given the inconvenience that they initially caused me and that they were then turning around and saying that I had been the one who had called in. I had hoped that my calls with the owner would have resolved the situation, but alas, that is not the case. I am not out any money, but was just inconvenienced and then made to feel like a liar. Again, this is very surprising to me. I hope that others have better luck with their scheduling. The other reviews on here speak for Lumiere's services themselves, which I cannot attest to, due to their car issues that they are saying never happened.
