After we had several issues with billing and being overcharged, we decide to leave. We gave our 30-days notice as required, however they charged us for another month!! When we complained, we were told that they charge a new billing cycle despite de 30 days notice. Total rip off!! I ended up paying for 2 full months for classes that we were not getting anyways!! Having been going to FADS Katy for 4 months, and having gone to as many group classes as I can attend, my perspective has changed as I have learned more about ballroom dancing. When it comes to things we are not familiar with, beginners often over estimate their knowledge and skill level, and this is the problem with Yelp in general (crowd sourcing reviews and ratings to people who are generally not knowledgeable, or experts, about what they are talking about). At first I questioned the push for learning dances I had no initial interest in. But as I have gotten better at dancing in general, without knowing it, learning other dances besides the ones that I wanted to focus on has given me better control of my body, and understanding of the movements required to move across the dance floor. So while you may not be practicing the dance you want to specifically get better at, you become a better dancer, which makes it easier to learn, retain, and master any dance you focus on. The instructors and staff at FADS Katy are skilled at what they do, and if you put in the effort to learn and remember what they teach you, they will respond in kind, pushing you to become better at what you want to learn, reaching whatever goals you have. Their goals may or may not always align with yours, its a business. It is up to you to know what is your long term goal. But know that the path you think you want/need to take may not be the best way to get there. Luckily, its really only the introductory program where they show you the basics of the main dances. Once you complete that course, you get to choose what it is you want to focus on. For country dancing I recommending learning Two Step, Polka, and the Country Waltz. For latin dancing I recommend learning Salsa, Merengue, Rumba, and possibly Bachata. This is Texas after all. Every other Friday is a dance party with free food and booze for students and their guests. Get your party on.

My initial impression was good because they have a lot of good morals and they are actually teaching the little girls good technique. However, after a few months, I started to notice that there was a lot of distraction happening, especially in the little girls class. The instructors focus was to try and convince even younger little girls maybe two years old and younger to try and come in to take the class. The instructors attention to the girls sitting on the floor with their parents Was more than 50% of the class this really distracted my child. I had my in-laws and my husband also take my daughter when I could not and they did not have any nice things to say about the class. They mentioned that expectation was way too strict for little girls And my husband did not like the atmosphere that was set by the owners-- he said that they were not friendly toward him at all as a first time parent parent taking his child. As a dancer, myself with a degree, I also understand that temperature is important in the studio, but in the summer months it was way too hot almost 80°. I don't think this is an appropriate temperature. I don't think they carry themselves in a nurturing and comforting way. We have found the climate to be very militant as opposed to relational. They are diplomatic and do nice things for the community, but not enough to keep us here. We will not return to take class.

We signed up for a package of 5 classes to prepare for our first dance at our wedding after hearing about their company at a wedding expo. Paul was our instructor and he was so helpful in creating a choreographed routine for our song and preparing us for the big day. He recommended classes 1-2x per week leading up to our wedding which was a good schedule. With lots of practice in between lessons we were able to keep up with the learning and it was a big success! Paul was really great in assessing our dance capabilities (as neither of us have a background in dance), and creating a routine that was suited to our level. I appreciated the time he took with each of us to make sure we had our steps down. He was very kind and flexible as were all the staff at the studio. We even stopped by to practice on the hardwood floors when we didn't have a lesson scheduled and they were kind enough to let us play our music overhead on the speakers. This is a great studio for anyone learning a wedding dance or looking for dance lessons in general. When we have some more time we are thinking of going back for Jiving lessons!
