I have purchased many cakes from them in the past and have always been happy with them. I ordered a small round cake for my 2nd mom's 80th birthday and pre-paid $125. I was told it would be ready for pickup Saturday at 1:00 p.m. I received a call saying it wouldn't be ready until around 2:00, so I adjusted my plans and arrived then. It was obvious they were scrambling to finish the cake, and I ended up waiting past their closing time. The cake was nice, so I took it home and trusted that everything was fine. The next day, on my way to the birthday celebration, I went to take the cake to the car and the top and bottom were separated and slid to the side. I was devastated. This was supposed to be a very special part of her birthday celebration, and I couldn't even give her the cake. I contacted the bakery Sunday morning. When they reopened Tuesday, they called me after seeing the pictures I sent. I was told that I must have dropped the cake. I absolutely did not. I was also told that I had been instructed to refrigerate the cake, which I was never told that too. I understand that once a cake leaves the bakery, they cannot control what happens to it. However, I showed the pictures to experienced cake bakers, and they felt the way the cake had been rushed, prepared and decorated could have contributed to what happened. I know in my heart I didn't do anything wrong. What was most upsetting to me was how the situation was handled. I contacted the bakery in good faith because I was hoping they would make it right but they didn't care and accused me of the cakes outcome. I'm not trying to get a free cake, I just wanted to get what I paid my hard earned money for. Unfortunately its their word against mine.

I was a bit nervous as $50 seemed a little high but after picking it up and seeing how gorgeous it was in person I was already happy with my decision. The best past was obviously cutting into and eating it! I bake frequently as a hobby and would pay $50 again for this cake in a HEARTBEAT. The texture, the flavor, the consistency in both the cake layer heights and how they were baked - it all was perfect. We got 8 generous slices out of this cake and everyone was able to enjoy the fresh fruit on top (although the dipped strawberries I think are the best!). It was perfectly soaked so that it wasn't dry whatsoever but also was able to stand up and not squish under the weight of the toppings. The cake also wasn't too sweet whatsoever (the boarder frosting on the bottom was a little sweet but there's so little of it it didn't make a difference). Overall definitely happy with this purchase and will be ordering from Pastelería Gama again in the future!

You grab a bin and tongs to choose the items you'd like to purchase. All of the pastries and bread are fresh and inviting. I haven't yet eaten the bolillo I purchased, but will be doing that in the next day or so. Bolillo is THE BEST bread for sandwiches (tortas or bocadillos, depending upon where you live). The donut, danish, and lemon pastry were FABULOUS! There is nothing wrong with any of these things, except that I should have purchased two of each instead of having control over myself. Flaky pastry, delicious flavors, and that pillowy donut are probably made in heaven. At least, that's what my mouth thinks. I literally cannot find anything negative to say. I know that we will be back, and probably sooner than my waistline recommends.

So today is one of the days the door says they're open. I got here about ten after 12 (it says they open at noon), it's now 12:20 and there's no one here. I called the number on the door and it goes to a voicemail that doesn't even describe say its name so I'm unsure if it's the correct number. As Im in the lot another customer came. She asked me if I knew what was going on. She said her daughter had a wedding cake from here that was wonderful and she had done a tasting with her other daughter. She's been trying to order a wedding cake for her. She said she got ahold of someone once, they told her to come in to order it, and it's now been three weeks and she has tried and no one has responded to her request. I've heard great things about this place and wish I could go in. I'm going to assume that since no one is here now they have not baked any cakes or at least not fresh so it's probably not worth waiting around. I really hope to try this place, the cakes are supposed to be great! But I'm a little irritated that I've now driven here twice from southeast Minneapolis and no one is around.
