We came to see 10 Cloverfield lane. Yeah...this place doesn't show new movies, but that's ok. I…read morenever did get to see 10 Cloverfield lane when it first came out anyway. I think most of the town was there to see it. It's a small town ..so go figure. With prices like $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for kids...who wouldn't want to go to a movie. I felt like I went back in time....like 70 years. The theatre was a bit dated and old, but it's still pretty clean and neat...minus the smells of cow manure from some old farmers boots. Old wood floors and unique theatre decore. The seats are not the most comfortable. Popcorn is pretty cheap compared to the other Big time movie theatres...and..it tasted pretty good too. So of your ever in the area...go and support this little local movie theatre.

From their website:…read more Showtimes every night 7:00 PM Adults $2 - Children and Seniors $1 Yes, you read that right. And I saw "The Dark Knight" here last week - and it's still in first run! Okay, price point out of the way, now on to the rave. First - this is a real, old, big, one-screen movie theatre from the days when the movies were something special. The facade is a gorgeous example those days, its geometric, restrained 1930s style a joy to behold. Inside, the original light fixtures and fittings remain. The floor is HARDWOOD PLANKS. Modern, comfy seats fit perfectly with the style and ambiance, having been chosen with care. An original dairy wall clock hangs in one of the back exit hallway doors. Popcorn is on offer in front at the snackbar. The place is filled with kids and families. There's even a (very) stern usher, who polices the place for cell phones and contraband! The show starts every night at 7:00pm (a sign hanging by the box office window tells you when the show will let out) and my family confirms it is always packed. Gotta confess I got a bit of a lump in my throat, seeing all those people gathered downtown, hanging out and seeing the show together, having a bit of a real, old-time American home town experience. This is someplace to go out of your way to experience. Check out their website. Check them out on a map. Is Charles City a road trip destination? It ought to be.

The good. Plenty of screens to see basically anything out. Friendly workers. The bad. Last…read more night the police were there when we arrived because cars in the parking lot were being went through and cleaned out. The theater itself isn't having the money put into it that it should. I was in the mega screen and the speaker constantly crackled. The seats are grimy looking and feeling, they need a good cleaning. To top it off the bathrooms were dirty. Hope that maybe AMC will build a new theater in cedar falls or Waterloo sometime.

A month ago I received "sorry tickets" for an unpleasant experience resulting in me and 4 kids…read morehaving to leave a movie right after it started due to an illness, the manager on staff wasn't concerned and dismissed us resulting in our first bad experience with 4 kids that have never been to a theatre before BUT the GM, if I remember right, reached out through and reimbursed me 5 tickets. I planned on taking the kids to see Gabby's Dollhouse the following month (today) for a birthday outing to make it up to them, the website would not work properly and wouldn't let me reserve seats with the complimentary tickets. To avoid a seating issue due to their faulty system like the last time having to split the kids up in different sections I called and spoke to a manager named Destiny. She confirmed reserving me 5 seats together and when I got there to just give her the tickets and we would be good to go. First thing out of the gate, we get there, 2 of the 5 seats "magically got sold right before we got there" she blamed the system. I was flexible and settled for different seats. She directed me to room 4 for a 5:10pm showing, we went in and got settled around 5pm but was thrown off by why the movie seemed to have already been playing. Short story shorter, it was a different showing time and ended 30 minutes after we got there, it was supposed to be 1 hr 30 minutes. We missed an hour of the movie. I went back to address the issue and Destiny and a long haired gentleman came up, right out of the gate Destiny blamed the projectors, the guy went to verify but I noticed he went the opposite way, I then noticed there was a Gabby moving playing in 2 separate rooms 4 & 9, we were directed to 4 which had started around an hour prior making them both overlap, after bringing this up to Destiny, she immediately dismissed my problem saying I should have read the ticket stub. I went to the room I was directed to, why would I question that and why in the world would I know the same movie is playing in 2 separate rooms overlapping at the same time?! She continued to dismiss me and blamed me for not checking my ticket stub instead of admitting she messed up and told the long hair guy the same thing ( I don't know if he was management as well but she acted like she was answering to him even though she said she was a manager). For the sake of making a scene in front of the kids I just left, but not before she made a saracastic, passive aggressive smarta** "have a good day". This is twice now and 10 wasted tickets and buckets of overpriced popcorn later. I havent been to this theatre in over 10 years and the only 2 times I come back to take my nieces for a first time movie experience- they're both bad, albeit the 1st experience got partially rectified followed by a second even worse experience. Let me be clear, NONE of the front line staff I had any problems with in either scenario, they were all great, it was all management. I don't know who's what manager in what capacity but I count 4 different management between the 2 experiences and only 1 gave a crap about my concern and that was over an email who I think was the GM. This has been an absolute nightmare of an experience and resulted in ruining my 4 girls birthday movie outting for a movie we've been planning for a month, all because the management didn't appear to know what they're doing and kept making excuses, or frankly just don't care.
