Hands down the best property management ever. The rent is affordable and the deposit is insanely cheap, although I'm used to living in places with overpriced housing (San Luis Obispo, not that bad but bad, and Santa Cruz, which is complete insanity). The manager, Shirl, is one of the nicest people I've met anywhere, and bent over backwards to help me and my girl lock down a place on short notice when our housing basically evaporated out from under us. Over the last 8 months or so she has hooked us up over and over, from staying an hour and a half late to push our paperwork through when we moved in (and I'm pretty sure she stayed and helped ANOTHER guy do it all over again before she left) to letting us pay rent late one month when I was an idiot and spaced, waiving the fee with a wink and a friendly 'just don't let it happen again'. She is the sole reason I renewed my lease without a second thought when it came due, because while I might be able to find slightly cheaper rent or a bigger space or whatever else, I don't think I'll find another Shirl! I know I'm gushing, but it's a big plus... at the last 2 apts I rented from big property management groups, fees, deadlines, and the almighty lease were all they cared about, but here I feel I'm treated like a person by somebody that could easily be my cool aunt, and I no longer expect to be taken advantage of here like I would elsewhere.
As for the apartments, they're about what you'd expect: efficient, cheapish but good quality nonetheless, with a great kitchen for the space (I'm in the 2br). LOTS of closet space for pack rats like me, and a good mix of wood in the kitchen, bathroom and entryway, with carpet in the living room and bedroom (I'd prefer all wood with pets, but at least I'm getting some vacuum practice haha). Fairly modern, I don't know if all apts are the same, but everything in here seems to be fairly recently installed and all appliances came in good repair and condition. Neighbors are friendly, it's a nice mix of people. Also very dog friendly, this is where a lot of folks with pets end up. Laundry room never seems too busy, all in all a good complex. No gym which means no guilt for me, but meatheads (screw you for taking care of yourselves) will be disappointed. Proximity to bike trail which is a big plus for some I'm sure, personally I'm not a huge fan of the parade of weirdos and tweeky folk that seem to traffic it, but hey that's just me, and I've seen no evidence of any break-ins or theft, save for a bike somebody left in a rack too long and has been gradually scavenged over the past few months. The last complex I lived at was crazy loud but here I never hear my neighbors, so sound is good, and I've had no complaints to my knowledge from our downstairs neighbor, so these buildings appear to be well insulated from one another since I'm a big gamer.
That's about all I can say in one sitting, might update after move-out to include deposit procedures but I expect to be treated fairly.
P.S: Regarding the post before me, I have not experienced ANY of the problems she indignantly complains about, and a lot of em sound like problems with her frame of mind in regards to other people. But all judgements aside, they do apparently blacklight upon move-out but I had to request it upon move-in, so be a winner and ask about it when you are moving in if you are worried about getting depositjacked. I did and they immediately complied, noting several (otherwise invisible) stains that were there upon move-in. read more
