For my 2,300rd review:
From MNL, the PTC (Philippines Travel Companion) and I traveled North to the resort city of Baguio. Baguio's elevation is nearly one mile high: Its cool here vs most of the PH.
We stayed at the Forest Lodge in Baguio bc we read on Tripadvisor it was the best hotel in Baguio. We had a suite during our two night stay.
Positives: Friendly, professional staff; The hotel was decked out for Christmas; Two bathrooms and two showers; The hotel has an all day restaurant Le Chef where we enjoyed tortang talong, pinakbet and pork liempo. All of the food was really good, esp the pinakbet, a regional favorite. In addition, the prices were reasonable at $31, inc tip for three dishes, two beers and one juice. Louie Y's, the bar has BOGO Happy Hour fr 5 to 7 pm. Four San Miguels were $4.15 w/ the discount; Beautiful view from large balcony that is accessible fr living area or bedroom; Most guests were Filipino so FL caters to locals; Snack time fr 5 to 7 pm inc free hot dogs, fries, lumpia-nada (a cross b/t lumpia & empanada) and bibingka; Activities every night.
Negatives: No gym; No food at coffee shop; No counter for your toiletries in bathroom; Dated furniture; Pricey compared to Grand Hyatt in BGC Manila. The price was about the same, but the Grand Hyatt inc breakfast, as well as drinks & hors d oeuvres for HH;
The positives outweigh the negatives. I like the old skool vibe and would stay here again. read more
