Only Semi-Awesome experience.
We stayed here March 2024:
We planned a trip over a year in advance for my in-laws 50th anniversary.
Durning this trip we stayed at a fair share of hotels both in Manila (Conrad, Shangri-La and eventually Hyatt BGC) and seen some provincial resorts (Fresh Air, Sunset and VillA Estrella). So we've seen a good spread of styles and price points of quality).
Having seen the pictures and reviews online, we were very excited and looking forward to our stay at Awesome Hotel.
*BEWARE* IF you are expecting the website pictures - DO NOT leave the front desk without making sure they placed you in the NEW HOTEL ONLY!!! Needless to say the old hotel is extremely old and night and day of what we were expecting.
We arrived later our first night only to be extremely disappointed in being placed in the old building.
The next day, we made it a priority to be transferred to the new building - mind you we were not offered an option to upgrade or transfer into the new building.
Night and Day! Thank the Lord we were able to get a premiere queen bed room over looking the beach, infinity pool and main garden.
All the appliances were new and modern, even the smart toilet - which was branded "Awesome" (along with every other appliance: kettle, shower door, hot water carafe).
The small store gift shop was nice - we bought the kids goggles and a floatie.
The restaurants and food were up to par and ok.
overall, i would have given the new building's look and amenities a 5 star, BUT the overall customer service definitely left a lot to be desired!!
5 star 'awesome' look with 'just ok customer service.'
When in the buffet: when asked for vinegar, the staff pointed versus offering to bring it. The front desk was inconsistent: when gauging a time frame "5-10" minutes - 25-30 minutes in you had to follow up. When they said they would meet you, they did not - you had to follow up.
Above all: Pool T O W E L S !?! they give you a card to redeem.
If you use ur 'awesome' towel after swimming in their 'awsome' pool you would like to dry and feel 'awesome' again?! right!? NO! you cannot. apparently in trying to offer and look high end and 5 star - you ONLY GET 'ONE USE' of a pool towel per 24hrs!?! WTF!?! Say you use ur towel to dry off and it doesnt dry before u swim and want to get a fresh new dry towel? YOU CANNOT!!!! you return the towel to the attendant and the check what time u got the towel and say "you can get a new one tomorrow" - NO WHERE in the check in process they mention this!?? Let alone if your guest has used a towel and it is still wet and/or dirty - your guest SHOULD BE able to get a nice new clean and most importantly a DRY!!! towel.
again, overall lets not bunch the old building in this - I WOULD not recommend the old tower AT ALL! but new building alone - I would give 9/10 - BUT with the inconsistent service and poor pool towel service - it totally brings down the "awesomeness" to 7/10.
Would I recommend this? Maybe, 6hrs from Manila - ok yes, its beautiful (hope they maintain the image - not like the old building). Driving 6hrs of mediocre service?!? I would pass.
I only hope they could match the service with the look - that would be AWESOME, but for now its the "OK Hotel" read more
