I have been taking my dog to the Ebensburg animal hospital due to an ear infection. The only reason…read moreI took him there was because of the reviews, and a few people telling me that it was a good veterinarian Hospital. The doctor did see him one time, and cleaned out his ear and put some medication and his ear to help get rid of the infection. The doctor then told me that if he continued to shake his head, to bring him back and I wouldn't have to make an appointment so they could check him quickly. Well, after 4 trips 2 this vet, the infection was still there, so I looked Google maps to find another veterinarian to take him to, because the Ebensburg animal Hospital just seemed 2 want your money, and they didn't do much of anything to help him. I knew that he was in pain because if you tried to pet him near his ear, he would start crying and yelping. I did find Alfie's home vet care on Google maps, which was only 7 miles from my apartment. I then called 2 make an appointment, which they tried to schedule me quickly, but they were booked with appointments for 3 days, which I thought was not very bad, unlike the Ebensburg Hospital. So I made the appointment, but for some reason I was unable to make it that day, so I asked to reschedule, which they did approximately 5 days later. I was about to leave until I went downstairs to start my car, but my roommate decided to take my car, and didn't decide to ask me, and he didn't leave a note or a text, or a phone call. So oh, I then had to call Cheryl, which is the doctor alfy's home vet care, and I explained what happened and that I would not be able to make it again. I then asked her if I could possibly make another appointment. I thought that she would have been a little upset do to me canceling two appointments already, but she was very nice, and made another appointment for me one or two days later. I did thank her 4 how nice she has been, and apologized 4 missing the two appointments that I had scheduled previously, and I assured her that I would not miss this appointment! I did make it to this appointment finally, and she took me in the exam room approximately 5 minutes after I arrived! Unlike the Ebensburg vet which took forever to see a doctor. I only saw a doctor only one time that I took him there. The other times, they were just nurses that took him and checked him out. So I was very impressed with doctor Alfes because you can tell that she actually cared about your pets, and would do anything to help them. Doctor Alfes then look in his ears and used a cotton swab to remove some of the wax, which it looked very black, and probably there was quite a lot deeper in his ear. The the doctor then took a sample of the wax, and she explain to me what they were going to do. The wax that she took out of his ear was the sample that she was going to use to look at it under a microscope 2 see what kind of infection it was. Approximately 5 minutes later she came back into the exam room and she explained what type of infection it was, and how she was going to treat it. Dr. Alfes then explained to me everything that she did and would do if the medication that she put in his ear did not work. So, I am very very happy with this veterinarian Hospital because Dr. Cheryl Alfes actually cares about your pets, unlike these big veterinarian hospitals where they only care about getting you in and out as quickly as possible and charge you double or triple of what Alfes vet home Care charges. So I would definitely recommend this Vet Care to anyone who really cares about their pet, because they will treat your pet like it was her pet. All the things that I had done 2 my dog that day it was quite a surprise when they handed me the bill. I mean that in a good way, because not only did I have his ear looked at, but I also had her give him a shot that he needed, and I also bought one of those flea collars that lasts 8 months (Seresto). My total bill came to $150, but the most expensive thing was the seresto collar, which costs $75, but the doctor gave me a rebate form which gave me $15 back. So I don't think the cost was bad at all, especially how well doctor Alfes treats your pet, and you.
So, if you do not like waiting at a big vet hospital with 20 other animals and which also costs you much more money, then I would suggest Alfes Home Vet Care.
