I played a few rounds at Forest Creek as a guest years ago and remember being struck by how welcoming the club felt and how much space surrounded you. The property is enormous, and you feel that scale throughout the round: longleaf pines, rolling Sandhills terrain, and remarkably little intrusion from the outside world give the golf a wonderful sense of privacy and seclusion. The North Carolina heat was intense when we played, but the course was beautiful, fair, and playable, and I especially enjoyed the Hog Hole. Even the Forest Creek logo has stuck with me, a cool, timeless piece of golf-club identity that fits the place perfectly.
I'm sure Forest Creek has matured considerably since my visit. Still, it remains one of those places I feel fortunate to have experienced and would enthusiastically recommend to anyone lucky enough to receive an invitation. It's an awesome club and a distinctive part of my golf history. read more
