In terms of location, there are several shops, restaurants, cafes, laundromats, pharmacies, and grocery stores for convenience. Deepa is just a wonderful caring person and is briliant in how she operates her bed-and-breakfast. She puts out a great spread for breakfast every morning which is delicious, fresh, and scrumptious. Make sure you get one of her special croissants. Rooms are very well cleaned and has all the conveniences you would need which include a comfortable bed, a private bathroom/shower, a TV, and a closet to name a few. There is also a common area on the second floor where you could lounge to relax, use the computer, the kitchen, and mingle with other travelers. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to London. I plan to stay here on my next trip.

This is a "guest house" so your experience will be more like a hostel than a hotel. To stay here you have to make a reservation, no walk ins are accepted, but do not worry as the process to get a reservation is very easy and unless there are a couple of groups staying getting a room shouldn't be too much of a problem. There are a few different options as to what kind of room from single rooms with community toilets and showers to en suites to family rooms if you are sharing a room with your family. Personally, I don't mind not having an en suite because there are plenty of bathrooms and toilets for use that it has never been an issue. There are a couple of common areas where are not only a good place to hang out with friends, but if you are on your own it is a great place to meet others. In addition, a fresh and plentiful breakfast is provided in the morning and with assigned seating, if you don't come with a group, this is another chance to meet other travelers. Overall, this is a really nice place that is affordable and with easy access to not only Central London, but a wide variety of different shops, pubs, and restaurants. I have been here a couple times now and one time for over a week and had a great experience.

The owner was nice enough, but his tune change significantly when we were waiting to get back into the building at 11pm. The man in front of us had forgotten the code but said the lock was broken. The owner finally opened the door, looking disgruntled and sounding even more so, with a hint of fury. It was a very awkward position to be put in as they stood arguing in the main doorway. In addition to this, a group of young guests stood in the hallway all night having loud debates and laughing. At 4:45am we had had enough, asked them as nicely as possible to keep the noise down, and were told to f**k off in a rather aggressive manner. I barely slept a wink, with the thumping coming from the ceiling and the ticking of an ominous hidden clock within the room somewhere on top of the young guests just mentioned. I suppose we got what we paid for, as it was a less costly place to stay for a single night.

The bathroom is always clean, because the host---James clean it every day. I am very happy with my experience in Woodville guesthouse. The host was very nice and with great hospitality. He cooks very well....to be honest I do miss his food......:-) My trip in London was perfect not only because of the view but also James and his guesthouse. The host rents out 3 rooms in his house, and you have full access to the kitchen and the bathroom. I really liked the arrangement because I could cook me own meals and save some money on eating out. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. The host, James, was very helpful and considerate. He is also very knowledgeable of London, so make sure to ask him for sightseeing suggestions. He is also very smart and pleasant to talk to. Definitely talk to him about art :) The house is situated in Walthamstow, one of the London suburbs. It's a nice neighborhood, there is a huge street market working on High street, so you can get, for example, fruits or other food for cheap. There are also at least three large supermarkets on High street, some pubs and restaurants if you don't cook or prefer eating out. Despite the presence of tha market I didn't have any problems with security, even when I came back late at night. The streets are well lit, there are police patrols, so it indeed feels quite safe. Walthamstow central station is within a 15-minute walking distance. There's a Victoria line Tube station there as well as buses and trains (I've never used the latter). The Underground will take you to King's Cross in 25 minutes and to Victoria Station in 40. The trains go every 3-7 minutes, but, unfortunately, I've found the London Underground to be quite unreliable, e.g. the service is disrupted sometimes -- but that is the problem you will have to face if you're staying in the suburbs (and a lot of other hostels and rentals are situated in the suburbs too). The buses are more reliable but take more time to reach London. There are night buses that run all night and you can use them if you're coming back late (the underground closes at 11pm). Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Woodville Guesthouse. It's a really good alternative to staying at a hotel if you're traveling on a budget.

The room was incredibly clean and looked like it had just been refurbished. Comfy bed, beautiful bathroom for the situation, and a lovely night's sleep! As with most places in London, the hotel is old. The location was great, just a short walk to the Underground, the rooms are fairly clean and a basic English breakfast was included in the cost (beans, sausage, toast, tea). There was a shared shower and toilet on each floor and the water was not always hot. Unlike the States, most of the world seems to have much lower water pressure and less consistent hot water (a shame, but I suppose it's less wasteful). Helpful tip: You need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner and soap. The staff was satisfactory. They provided basic services and did their jobs, but did not go out of their way to be friendly or helpful. This was not a big deal to me because I rarely stayed at the hotel. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and it would be unrealistic of me to expect any more from this hotel given the cost per night. London is an expensive city, so Arran House Hotel is a good option for the budget traveler seeking a good location and a place to sleep.
