This location in Juneau, Alaska is supposedly "the world's smallest Costco," and I have no reason to doubt that claim. This is a compact yet fully stocked warehouse that's a blast to browse! The parking lot is small, and the store is located off the main drag. there's a spectacular towering mountain as a backdrop. This Costco is tiny but has everything you may need. Note that prices, especially on produce, are a lot higher than you'd expect back home. For example, we regularly buy the huge bags of fresh oranges in Las Vegas for $8 a bag. Here, they cost $11. But it's a landlocked Alaskan town, so that's to be expected. I got a kick out of the Alaska-specific items on offer, like value packs of bear spray and clam guns. They sell a lot of gear that's useful for campers and people going fishing, too. There are even crab traps for sale! This location has a very tiny snack bar that's extremely popular with the locals. And yes, their famous hot dog still costs $1.50 here. Note that this location does NOT have a fuel center. They DO utilize the new scanner machines at the door, so you can easily use the electronic version of your membership card on your phone for easy and quick access (in case you forgot to bring your physical, plastic membership card). Mistakes happen, and when companies and staff stand up, own them, and address them, it should be both recognized and applauded. It wasn't a big deal for me because I didn't need my car but it was annoying to not know what to expect. The hours aren't always correct but using the phone number to set up an appointment works just fine. The work wasn't particularly cheap, but car stuff can be expensive so I don't think that reflects on the business.

I told the woman to roll her window up and ignore him. I left and did not get gas there and never will again. It's a lot different than the old owner.

About 5 months later, the same noise came back. I had barely driven the car during that time since I work from home and we had a very harsh winter in Juneau. I brought the car back on March 27, 2026, and was told again that the belt was worn out and needed replacement. Now, less than a month later, the same squealing noise is returning again. From my understanding, a serpentine belt should last years, not just a few months especially with minimal driving. This makes me question whether the original issue was properly diagnosed or if there may be another underlying problem that wasn't addressed. I'm disappointed with the repeated repairs and lack of a lasting solution. I would recommend getting a second opinion if you experience a similar issue.

That call never came. Very late in the day I stopped by. Within an hour the tire was repaired. I remember when Red retired, and Mike had to earn my business.
