It wasn't a big deal for me because I didn't need my car but it was annoying to not know what to expect. The work wasn't particularly cheap, but car stuff can be expensive so I don't think that reflects on the business.

I called around, most shops said no but like others this one treated me like crap on the phone and acted like it was a completely ridiculous idea that I wanted someone to work on my quote "vehicle from before the turn of the century." It's not a steam locomotive, you charge by the hour, if it's harder to work on charge more. I'm only leaving 3 stars since I didn't actually have work done by the shop so 1 feels unfair, but acting like it's hard to change the starter on a 1991 jeep Cherokee is insanity.

Dropped my car here (all day) for an oil change…read more I got a call around noon that it needed a $700 brake job. It would require new rotors as mine could not be turned because of our proximity to "the salt from the ocean", and of course new pads. The parts costs they gave me were roughly double local retail price. They told me I would be lucky to get three more days driving on it before the irreparable damage was done to the calipers. I told them not to do anything.... This weekend, I bought those parts and set to replacing them with a friend. Found the rotors to to be fine and the pads with normal wear for a vehicle with the miles mine has on it. Replaced them in 1.5 hours. I guess that guy has some extra bills he needs to cover this month. I hope he bothered to actually changed the oil in my engine!
