I've now been a patient of this practice for a few years, so I wanted to write a quick update. This office continues to be professional and helpful. I've seen PA Jacquee McNear each year for my annual skin check, and she's been great as a provider. I particularly appreciate that I'm able to schedule my annual appointment for the next year at my visit. I have other similar appointments that I'm unable to do that with, which inevitably leads to me forgetting and not scheduling as I'd like. Any prescriptions I need are placed quickly. Each of my visits go quickly. I have only had to wait about 10 minutes before being called back. Happy I've found this office! read more

I first got started with Forefront Dermatology and Dr Todd Rickett when I was searching for a specialist that does testing for medical procedures. I had testing in the 1990's for metal when it was first determined I needed a knee replacement. When the results came back that I was allergic to both Titanium and Cobalt the orthopedic doctor I had seen said "sorry there is nothing he could do except give injections into the knee joint." Fast forward to 2018. I was getting physical therapy in a warm water pool in attempt to stay mobile. The physical therapist told me of the doctor that quite successfully did knee replacement on her mom. I contacted him, made an appointment and was sold he was the doctor to handle my situation. He showed me a zirconium knee joint and said the femur could be made of polypropylene if I really did have the allergy I reported. I didn't know the name of the allergist that had performed the test in the 90's so I decided it wouldn't hurt this many years later to be tested again. After many phone call inquiries I found that Dr Todd Rickett at the S 2nd St location in Louisville performed just the tests I needed. I think he is the only doctor in the broader Louisville area that does allergy testing for medical procedures. He and his office is so organized. The testing requires appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the same week. On the Monday of my appointment he did two separate allergy trays. One for materials used in a knee replacement and the second for materials used in a pacemaker. He removed from one of the trays materials that were a duplicate in the two tests. On Wednesday he removed the contacts that had been taped to my back and documented for any initial allergies. On Friday he did the final reading and went over the results. He gave me a printout of the results and an informational pamphlet on each allergy and places the item may be found and substances it might be part of. After the very thorough and documented results I could be informative to the specialists on what materials needed to be avoided. Thank you Dr Rickett for performing such a valuable test. My Cardiologist appreciated knowing he needed to avoid Titanium and Cobalt. My orthopedic knee surgeon performed an additional blood antigen test to confirm the validity of the test but made his decision on how to proceed based on both tests. I highly recommend if in doubt Dr Rickettis the doctor that can confirm allergies of all types but he is the only one I know that specializes in medical substance allergy testing. UPDATE: Filled out the form below as suggested, no call, no email...nothing! Also has TRICARE and PCP call the office. My referral was valid, they did NOT do their job! I'm writing so this can be taken care of as I am so disappointed and no one at the office would speak with me. Have been going here since we arrived in 24. First, was not told my Dr moved to another location further from me. Needed my medications filled, tried reaching someone for 3 weeks, no returned phone calls after messages left. Called, spoke to someone on the appointment line who left a message for the manager with a guarantee of a return phone call, no phone call. Called again, only to be read a note that I needed to come in for an appointment. Schedule with another Dr. Ensure my referral is good to go. Drive almost 2 hours with the Louisville construction mess, accidents, etc. to be met at the reception desk by Vickie who says my referral expired in 2024. Interesting because I arrived in 24 and have been seen since. Call Tricare, call our Tricare advocate who was able to tell me the referral was active until November and it was the same number. He told me reception could verify the referral through the Humana website. I brought this information to reception to which she replied she could not/would not do that, I needed the referral in hand. She had already told me I could give her the authorization number. Explained it was the same, nope, she would not help. No offer to pay upfront, nothing. I told her the auth was active and we would get it taken care of and I was confident it was covered after talking to our Tricare referral specialist. I was given no options after driving there. Vickie then told me the Dr was unable to see me due to being past the 10 minute mark, after she had already told me she would check me in when I arrived and was trying to get the referral information she needed. Not to mention, I called Tricare again when I left and the referral is ACTIVE. Also asked to speak to the reception manager and they told me she was "busy". Extremely unprofessional, reception needs educated and I will be switching to a new provider. I have never had such an awful patient experience! read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Forefront Dermatology in Louisville. I arrived for my scheduled appointment after driving 30 miles, only to be told that my doctor was actually at the Middletown office that day. The staff couldn't explain why my appointment was booked for the wrong location and showed no concern for the inconvenience. They would not allow me to see another doctor, even though the scheduling error was on their end. I was told I'd need to make another appointment, which was frustrating and a waste of my time. Because of this experience, I will be finding a new dermatologist. read more

It pains me to write this review, Dr. Jackson is an outstanding doctor. Today I called the office to schedule an appointment to get a yearly check and for another small issue. No appointments available until mid January of if I was willing to see another provider. I agreed to do that for the small issue however for the full skin check up I asked for an appointment with Jackson. Apparently no appointments available until an unforeseen date. I've been with this practice for roughly 20 plus years. I thanked the receptionist and stated I'd pass on both appointments and find another provider. So unfortunate, f they can't schedule a long time patient think how the practice will treat a new one. Dr. Jackson is a 5 star doctor, the practice a one is a little generous. read more

I am a patient of both Dr. Mark Jackson and PA Jacquee McNear at Forefront Dermatology. Both are fantastic! They both deliver top-notch care and are easy to talk to and caring. I've seen Dr. Jackson more than ten years, and it is a privilege to see him with his amazing research credentials and experience yet he remains down to earth and interested in ordinary patient care. Ms. McNear also is wonderful. I saw her today and she helped me out so much, responding to my needs, so that it looks like I will definitely be able to make an important meeting later this week that I was concerned that a health issue of mine might prevent. In addition, she expertly took care of all of my other concerns. The nurses and office staff there are great as well! read more

I've had 2 satisfactory experiences at their downtown Louisville location to remove a benign cyst. They have free parking. The staff is friendly and they explained all the steps in the procedure. My procedure was scheduled a couple months out, but they called with an opening that cut the wait a month short. read more

Just got a text from a collections company regarding a 2.5 year-old co-payment that I never received notification that I owed in the first place. Now I suppose I'll have a nice ding on my credit report for $55 I had no idea I owed. Given my overall patient experience has been underwhelming, I'll be paying this through the collections company and will try to find a new dermatologist with a competent billing depatment. read more

Sad when you have been a patient for over 25 years and to been seen and coded as a new patient to gain $100 dollars more in payment. Called and was suppose to have a call back, which never happened. I had to call again only to be told since I hadn't been in in awhile, I was now viewed as a "new patient" You have all my records, yet coded as new. Dr. Margaret "Molly" Moye was patient, attentive, and focused on me for my entire visit. Her nose wasn't down in a pad or tablet, and she didn't have an assistant do all the work, then do a "doctor drive-by" where you feel like you're involved in some cruel medical office game of "Tag." You know... when the doc tags you with their "chief concern" inquiry (aka - you only get one issue today), then you're never able to spit out all your concerns in the 2.2 seconds granted for your response, and finally, some mysterious silent buzzer cuts you off and the doctor vaporizes, leaving you wanting to chase them down the hall, screaming, "Wait! You're still IT!" My experience with Dr. Moye was just as one would hope an experience would be with a doctor; she cared about what I had to say, didn't seem rushed to leave the room, and listened to every skin paranoia I had, providing both a scientific/medical and layperson's response, giving me peace of mind and calming my anxiety about normal bumps and allergies. I never liked playing Tag, so Dr. Moye is a good fit for me. Also... "Not IT!" read more

The billing is atrocious. First they billed me higher than their contract with my insurance allowed. I only realized the priced was too high because I called my insurance asking what they were charging. The billing didn't seem to match what I thought they did. I called insurance because the dermatologist billing office would never respond. My insurance stepped in and corrected the overcharge, but the dermatologist never would respond to my questions about why they were charging some of the things they charged. It was still higher than I think it should have been. But oh well... To be fair I don't know how fast a full body scan should take, but it felt like she barely glanced at me. After she didn't find anything concerning on my full body scan, I asked if it mattered that one freckle was darker. She said she didn't think so but then biopsied the freckle. Makes sense to be safe, but she dug it out so deep and wide that it scared over. When I asked about another spot, she TOLD ME OT WAS NOTHING but proceeded to cut it out without asking. It bled all over my shirt as an added bonus. Maybe it was just a one-off bad experience, but based on how poor everything went, I will not be returning. 0/5 read more

Saw Alex H for a skin check up. She was very kind and she educated me on what to look for in the future. Getting a skin exam is totally different than any other doctor's appointment I've had before but she made it quick, painless and very easy. Forefront Dermatology is a clinic that is all over the place. They don't not respect anybody's time and they are horrible at producing results. Part I - I went to the Doctor's Office during my scheduled time and they sat in the patient's room almost immediately. The clinic nurse spoke to me for about 2 minutes and told me to wait for the doctor. I sat in my seat for about 30 minutes without seeing any doctor. I walked out the room and asked one of the nurses for the doctor and she then she replied she will be with you shortly. 5 more minutes passed and then the doctor finally showed up. She talked to me for about 4 minutes and the prescribed me some medication. You mean to tell me I spent 40 minutes with a scheduled appointment just to talk to somebody for about 4 minutes? Until this day I still don't think she fully analyzed me. Unacceptable. Part I - CVS has been having a hard time getting 1 of 2 of my prescription approved. They have tried contacted Forefront Dermatology for about 3 weeks with 0 results. I decided to step in called them myself a couple of times and they kept telling me they will get my medicine processed soon and they will call me back with updates within 48 hours. Two lies they have told. My medicine is still pending and I keep finding myself calling them on updates instead of the promised updates they were supposed to give me. Be careful should you go here for any procedure or consultation regarding insurance I was told they accepted my insurance. Forefront then proceeded to send a biopsy taken at the second street address in Louisville to their Wisconsin lab for review. This was done without my knowledge or consent, no mention by the practice this would be done. Forefront didn't check with Humana to determine coverage. Since the laboratory and reading was done out of state my insurance didn't cover the work done by two out of network doctors. The bill $ 1156.30. Forefront misrepresented themselves. read more

Before going here I called to double check that my insurance would be accepted and that the procedure, if any, would be covered and was assured that it would be. I went to the office for one visit. The visit was actually very pleasant. I didn't wait long to be seen and Dr. Mark Jackson was very helpful and I had one mole removed to be tested. It is now a couple weeks later and I received a bill from them for $390. Upon inspection I discovered they charged my insurance as a normal doctor visit AND a surgery. Obviously with a surgery I have to pay a deductible so I had to pay the full amount AND a 50$ copay. The labs (which were sent out of state to Wisconsin) were all billed separately so i payed another four 50$ copays. I just feel this was a shady way of charging and I got the short end of the stick because of this. I spoke to a Ms. Megan and will come back to update yelp when this is all resolved. At the moment we'll call it three stars. Update: just got off the phone with a Ms. Nicole, the billing manager. They did comp the out of state labs that weren't covered by my insurance bc i had made them aware prior to my visit that my labs were only covered through my insurance if they were processed by LabCorp. Regarding the doctors visit AND "surgery" she essentially she just told me in her nicest customer service voice that this is how they commonly bill things and there was nothing i could do about and insinuated it was my insurance company and not them. I still believe all of this was billed extremely shady and I will not be returning to Forefront Dermatology ever again in the future. Which is very unfortunate bc as I said it was a very pleasant office visit. Do what you want with this information. I am downgrading this to two stars solely based on billing aspect of the visit. read more

The billing office transparency is awful and their customer service is non existent. Their rates are roughly 5x's higher than other dermatologists in the area for basic services. They are not transparent with their fees and services even if you request an estimate(which will likely never be accurate). Also dont forget that they have insanely high Lab fees compared to other plastic surgeons and dermatologists locally. highly recommend people look somewhere else. I am still waiting on their billing office to return a call on their overcharges and the lack of clarity that patient and lab services are billed separately. Update 1-18-19: I sent a long email to patient care services as forefront dermatology suggested in their reply to work something out with their billing office. It has been 5 days and they still have not reached back out to me to contact me from the email I sent. read more

Dr Moye was amazing. She performed a MOHS procedure in my wife's lower lip and we were BLOWN AWAY by the office staff who not only got my wife the appointment for the surgery in less than a week but also squeezed me in with one day's notice!! Amazing experience! Highly recommended!! read more

Dani Haas is Wonderful! She removed two concerning places on my skin completely painlessly! I had a large birthmark/mole on my back that had concerned me for years but had significant changes recently. I was terrified when I went in but she calmed my fears, removed it and another spot that she thought should be biopsied and I never felt a thing. She was really great to speak to and in helping relieve my anxiety. Dani has a great bedside manner, was professional, caring and took the time to talk with me, not AT me. So many things wrong with this place. I just received a refund check from 2 years ago! All my information was misspelled, wrong zip code etc. So I thought it was a scam. I called and they said I paid twice. Which I did because I paid at the time of my visit and then I paid again when they sent me a bill and threatened to send me to collections for not paying. As far as the service I received. The doctor literally poked me with a large toothpick and said that will be $70. The worst experience at any doctors office. read more

The office and lower level medical staff are rude, very unprofessional and anything but helpful. The two doctors I've seen have been great, but unfortunately I'll be seeking to find a different dermatologist because if the other staff. My son was referred here from his pediatrician 3 weeks ago. We were told they will be contacting us same day. Never got a call. Called them and there appointments were a month out. Got a call yesterday stating they had a cancellation for today at 9:40 am and they asked for us to be there early for paperwork. We drive an hour and a half to the office because the 3 local branches wouldn't accept his Medicaid. We get here and wait 15 minutes for them to tell us he doesn't have and appointment today that it is tomorrow. And continue to tell us there was nothing they could or would do for us. decided to go here to get help with my moderate acne that i've had for years, i was really happy at first when he prescribed a bunch of medications, i thought i would finally get rid of my acne, he also promised me that if the medications are too much money for me to call him back asap and he will change it, well all my medications added up to 350 dollars, that i would have to pay every month. nope. too much. called back the same day and was told they will call us back in a few hours or would leave a note for him. never got a call, called back a few days later because we never got a call or anything and was told a note wasn't even left, and got the same answer if they'll either call us later or leave a note for the doctor. i'm just going to find a new dermatologist because this is a bit ridiculous. read more
