Unfortunately, the actual diagnosis was a completely different story. The technician looked at my refrigerator and told me the compressor was bad and that the repair would cost approximately $1,400. I explained that the refrigerator was barely a year old. I purchased it brand new in July 2025 and paid the $120 service call fee expecting an accurate diagnosis. Before agreeing to a $1,400 repair, I contacted Samsung because according to my research the compressor was still covered under their 5-year warranty. Samsung waived their service fee and sent their own technician to evaluate it. Their technician performed a proper nitrogen pressure test and spent over an hour diagnosing the refrigerator. The result? The compressor was functional. It was NOT the problem. The refrigerator actually had an internal refrigerant/Freon leak that could not be repaired. Samsung ultimately refunded me the entire purchase price of the refrigerator because of the internal leak. I cannot imagine what would have happened if I had simply agreed to pay $1,400 for a compressor replacement. I would have spent money fixing a working compressor and the refrigerator still would not have cooled properly because the internal leak was the actual problem. My recommendation to anyone dealing with a relatively new appliance is to contact the manufacturer first and have their authorized technician evaluate it before agreeing to an expensive repair. I chose this company because of the reviews, but unfortunately my experience was not good. I came very close to spending $1,400 on a repair that would not have addressed the actual problem. I had been getting significant ice buildup along the bottom and wasn't sure what was causing it. As I've experienced with Amil before, his professionalism was outstanding. He offered to come the following day or fit me into his schedule later that same afternoon. He arrived at approximately 3:30 PM, right on time. One small detail immediately reminded me why Amil stands apart from many other companies. As soon as he entered my home, he removed his shoes. I even told him I have tile and that he was perfectly fine leaving them on, but he still took them off. That may seem minor, but it says a lot about someone who respects your home and treats it as if it were his own. He went directly to the refrigerator, inspected the freezer, and quickly got to work. He discovered a loose screw and a slight gap that was allowing outside air into the freezer, which appeared to be contributing to the ice buildup. What impressed me most was his honesty. I know very little about refrigerator repair, and he could have easily turned a simple issue into an expensive repair. He didn't. He explained what he found and was extremely fair about the cost. For comparison, GE wanted approximately $114 just to come to my home, before any parts, labor, or repairs were included.
