First time here, it was really good! We had the shishito peppers and strip steak loco moco and a braised lamb/lamb chop special. Both dishes were excellently prepared and presented, service was great also. I'd probably go for the lamb for round two or try something else on the menu. The restaurant was nice with not a lot of noise even though it was a full house. Definitely make a reservation! Parking was a bit challenging also. This is one of our favorites when we come to this island! From start to finish it as its delightful and sumptuous experience. I highly suggest the sampler appetizer, which is a delicious exploration of various poke dishes combined with a yummy Portuguese bread alongside clams and muscles with Portuguese sausage. Yum! Meats with the coffee, rub Kona, coffee rub, of course, accompanied with an incredible bordelaise sauce are definitely a perfect choice. If you have a big group definitely get the baked fish it's a showstopper. The food, the service, the ambience all are perfection warm friendly people serving you for a family feel. Don't forget to get the macadamia nut ice cream and tartlet for the finish! Notably, they do change the menu from time to time, but every time we've gone, we haven't been let down by chef! My family and I came here to celebrate Father's Day Dinner and it was really unfortunate we had a horrible experience. What made our dinner disappointing was that our food took forever while we continued to see the tables around us being served. There was little to no communication from our server what the situation was with our food and we had two young hungry toddlers patiently waiting. After an hour our server remembered she for got our two son's waters so she brought one water with two pineapple and two orange slices. It really left us dumbfounded that she brought the one water but two sets of fruit slices. As a father, the one thing you appreciate is your kids being taken care of first, but even after an hour we did not even get the bread we ordered with our meal. One thing that could have changed our experience is if our server better communicated to us that our food was taking longer than normal and maybe brought the bread or something for our 4 and 2 year old kids. After over an hour and fifteen minutes we FINALLY got our salad. Then, after an hour a thirty minutes we got our entrees. Despite this, we had to ask for the appetizer short rib lettuce wraps and bread we had ordered. By this time I had lost my appetite and was more focused on making sure my kids were feed. After all was said and done we had to speak up and let the management know how horrible our experience was. All they said the owner wanted to do was take 10% off our final bill. 10% was a start but I can assure you my family and I will never be returning to this establishment ever again. The food was decent but the fact that after an hour they could not have even given may young kids anything was really a disappointment. read more

The was the best dinner we had on the Big Island by far (best dinner I have had in a long time and I live in LA). My kids couldn't get enough and ordered another steak after they finished their short rib. All the dishes we tried were amazing- Portuguese chicken which was a flavorful dish of chicken, rice, olives cooked in a cast iron, Korean short rib served with deliciously seasoned mashed potatoes and grilled pumpkin, steak, and sashimi from Japan. Each dish was perfect. The dessert was also amazing-- we had the best pie ever, a macadamia nut tart, and a chocolate creme brûlée. I can't stop thinking about the pie! We have been on the Big island for 12 nights. And have eaten out each night. This was by far the best restaurant we have been too. And we have had some very "fancy" meals. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a similar dish 4 other places and this was amazing. Melt in your mouth miso butter fish. The service was excellent. And it's a very cute spot. My family made reservations and we had an unfortunate experience on our first time trying forc, that same night we were called back and asked to return, which we did the following night. The owner and chef is doing everything right at this restaurant. The food is top tier, with tons of delicious flavors and options on the menu. Came here for dinner and the place was packed. Had a drink at the bar while we waited for our seats. Ordered an old fashioned at the bar and it was OK. Once we were seated we ordered the clams and mussel appetizer along with the beet salad. The Beet salad was ono but the clams and mussels lacked taste. For the entree I got the steak loco moco. I ordered my steak medium and got more of a medium well piece of meat. The serving of rice was so small compared to the protein I had to order two more side orders. Service was OK. Had a family dinner at Forc. It's a nice location up in the mountains of Waimea. The building looks small from the outside but it's spacious on the inside with several booths and tables big enough for larger parties. They also have a nice bar area. The hostess, waitress, bartender and other staff were all warm, friendly and accommodating. However the food was inconsistent. The NY Steak, Keiki Steak, gnocchi and poke were good but the two "medium" 18oz. Ribeyes with chimichurri that we ordered came out well done and over-charred to the point they tasted like tough, burnt, overcooked NY steaks. I don't believe they were ribeyes. So disappointed! The sweet potatoes were overcooked and bone marrow barely had any marrow. Really wanted to like this place but not sure we'll be back for another try. read more

The wife and I came here on a recent family trip to Kona. We loved that the restaurant did locally sourced farm to table meals. The fresh ingredients make a huge difference and you can definitely taste it. An example is that I usually do not care for poi but we got it here to try it: amazing...it was by far the best poi I had ever had and talked about it the rest of the trip. The pork was extremely tender and flavorful and large enough to fill two people. The staff was super helpful and amazing but that is the Big Island for you: tons of Aloha Spirit and hospitality is top notch. The pricing is what you would expect from a quality restaurant but their food can compete with any high end restaurant on the planet IMO. This meal ranks up there with some restaurants in Paris, France as my all time favorite meals. Come here, you will not be disappointed. read more

With a name like that, we were very excited to check out this Waimea (Kamuela) restaurant that shares a parking lot with an unassuming lodge. Reservations were strongly suggested. This was our last night on the island and we were excited because of all the excellent reviews we had read and frankly, the concept sounds amazing as well. We thought this would be the perfect way to put the accent on an incredible gastronomic adventure. We were seated immediately and our server came over minutes later to talk to us about food and drink specials. In my zeal, I jumped on the bartender's vodka special - but my husband reminded me that vodka doesn't like me and that I should consider one of the gin or whiskey drinks instead. We asked her to give us a minute to review the menu. She returned - only after I had painstakingly gotten her attention - even though she walked by our table a few times, and we were obviously ready to order. She seemed a bit put out by us changing our mind about getting the bartender's vodka special because for the rest of the evening, we felt like we were a bother to her. But, on to the food! Kamuela Ranch Water - Mango infused tequila, fresh lime, passion simple syrup, soda water - it was perfectly balanced and in complete harmony on the palate. However we were confused by the chili lime rim that was not a part of the ingredients. It didn't detract from the drink by any means. Spring Night -- Rye, Amaro, Port wine, ginger beer -this reminded me of the Bon Apetit The New York Sour that I favor -- however mine is usually made with Maker's Mark. The Rye and Amaro added a smokiness to the cocktail that I really enjoyed. It was well made, the flavors played well together and it was strong. Goat Tacos - Korean style braised goat on mu shu tortillas --- the tortillas are absolutely delicious - the mu shu gives it a springy yet light texture that is pleasing to the palate both texturally and tantalizing to the taste buds. And this is even before you've taken a bite of the tender, melt in your mouth goat meat. Daikon adds a delicious crunch. The apple salsa was either missing from ours or didn't really add much in terms of texture or flavor. It was not missed. If we were rating this restaurant on this alone, it would be a 5! 14oz Big Island Grass Fed Whole Roasted NY steak - we asked for this medium rare - it came out rare. This was served with a spring onion daikon relish and chili pepper taro. The relish was very citrus forward and just didn't seem to complement the steak. When our server came to check on us, we let her know his steak was rare, she offered to take it backed to be cooked more, but lets face it, we all know that that never works well. It would have likely come out overcooked and hockey-puck hard. The texture was a challenge to the point that I (he is perfectly capable of cutting his own meat usually) had to cut his steak into smaller-sized portions and I couldn't do this without the plate sliding all over the table. 18oz Grilled Rib Eye - medium rare and cooked to a perfect temperature with excellent texture however it was massively under-seasoned and over-charred to the point of bitter. The Garlic Fried Rice turned out to be Cauliflower Rice. It was bland and underwhelming. Good texture for Cauliflower rice, but not what we were expecting. The Portuguese bread was absolutely delicious and I could have made a meal out of them. The dough was light, airy with the right amount of springiness. It had a perfect crisp and was pleasantly garlic-forward and well seasoned. Our server came to check on us several times, and would ask 'is everything perfect?' even though she knew that one of our steaks was far from perfect. All in all, we were rather disappointed with this meal at FORC for which we had the highest expectations and expected to leave a 5 Star review. read more

We had a wonderful dinner here and decided to return the next evening. Our server was Gabby. She was perfect. Timing, professionalism and courtesy was exemplary. She made it seem effortless and made every thing happen. The grass fed steaks are cooked exactly as ordered. The cut of meat is generous and tender. Sides were good not exceptional. The lamb was over cooked and gnocchi mushy. Miso ahi was great but would have liked a bit more miso flavor. Cocktails were hit and miss but overall good. Needs more consistency to be awesome. Overall we'd rather eat here for a nice meal than in Waikoloa, Kona or Hilo. We really like it. Can't wait to return. read more

We ordered the oysters and bone marrow, goat tacos, poi, butter lettuce salad (the dressing rocks!) and the lamb(small portion. Sharing is the way to go here so can try everything. My favorite dish was the goat tacos! They didn't taste games and had such wonderful flavors. I ordered the I r martini which was delicious. Great place for date night or to hang out with loved ones. Staying in Waikoloa for almost two weeks, we decided to take a drive to Waimea and try Forc for dinner. We had heard good reviews from friends and they were spot on. We started with the Clams, which were amazing. A broth of blistered cherry tomatoes, broth and chorizo which was inspired by many of the Paniolos who were from Portugal. The bean soup was outstanding, loaded with pieces of oxtail. Main Entrees included fresh ahi, seared perfectly with a pickled variety of vegetables and local greens. The Leg of Lamb was braised in Portuguese Vino Verde and cooked delicately in a dutch over. Full, we skipped the homemade desserts (which looked delicious) and were greeted with locally made truffles that included Macadamia nuts, Chocolate, Vanilla and Dark Chocolate. And as an added treat, the owner/chef introduced himself at our table to make sure we enjoyed everything. Will be going back soon. read more

This is a very lively place for some delicious food and drinks. Some food items are better than others. There is ample parking but the signage was a little hard to see. There is both indoor dining and a small outdoor patio for seating. We came for dinner and started off with a Mai Tai made with fresh muddled pineapple and a spicy Margarita with pepper infused tequila. For dinner, hubby had a NY steak and I had their daily special 1/2 rack of lamb. The NY steak was flavorful and cooked to medium rare but really tough so that was disappointing. It's ala carte so any sides are ordered separately. We ordered the Portuguese bread for a side. It was soft and fluffy but pre-baked so it was not hot from the oven. Also tried the garlic fried rice which was just ok. It had good garlic flavor but was a bit light on salt and the rice was all broken and dry. My lamb was delicious. It had a mustard and bread crumb crust and a nice char on it served with chimichurri which was weirdly blended so it looked more like salad dressing. It also came with a generous serving of broccolini and purple potato which I shared with hubs. Don't come if you are in a hurry though. For some reason, our food took 50 minutes to come out of the kitchen from the time we ordered - not sure what the holdup was but there were other parties that were being served before us. We noticed lots of people had ordered the whole roasted fish which looked marvelous and had an amazing presentation - perhaps next time! We didn't see any parties waiting for a table but reservations are recommended. They have a full bar with some infused libations - probably a great place for Happy Hour if you are in the area. read more

Service is very friendly. They are busy and probably understaffed like everywhere. Drinks were not good all around. Don't mind a heavy pour but it felt like I was drinking from the bottle. Tap beer was just below room temperature. Food was good. You can tell the recipes are flavorful. Just my steak was cooked rare and with all the other mishaps through the night I didn't want to send it back. I just don't like sending things back but they would if asked. Overall they just "missed" with me and that's ok. It looks like many in the community love this place. read more

Best restaurant we ate at during our entire trip! The food across the board was legitimately outstanding. Would highly recommend pretty much anything there. If you get the chance, definitely try the chorizo butter (delicious chorizo bits mixed into butter) with their homemade rolls as a starter. Right out the gate, we were impressed. The steak was some of the best that my father has ever had. The pork was also outstanding. My favorite was the Greek-inspired lamb pasta. The strawberry mojito was crisp and fruity, without being too sweet. Perfectly refreshing on a humid evening. Next time we're on the island, I'm 100% making a point to go back here!
