The modern barber shop, and as their name suggests, only for men. All hairdressers are supposedly experts with men hair care, and offer "consultations" about which products to use. I'm not exactly sure what made them experts about it, but still. The real attraction of this place is that everything is tailored for the "male" experience, as evidenced from this little tidbit from their own website: "An atmosphere that will cater to you as a man, with mens magazines, t.v. with sports, news, and anything else you would like to see (we know that you guys like to have control of the remote, therefore it's yours). You can also grab a beer if you'd like. Remember............we wanna spoil you" Fittingly, the place is reminiscent of the look that Mel Gibson was going for with his loft, in the not so manly "What Women Want": Black leather, minimalist, and lots of open spaces. Big big mirrors. The haircut itself was ok. For $18+tx, it wasn't much more expensive than SuperCut or any other place that most non-caring guys will go to. Probably only $2-3 more. But I left feeling pampered in a Oh So Manly Way! I do want to point out that one time I did go with long hair (between chin and shoulder) and that didn't like what they did with it at all. I guess they are mostly experts of the easy cuts and wax/gels products. Stay in their comfort zone. Note: Your read their thing correctly. They do actually serve beer, for free. They have a keg at the back, and you can really enjoy a cold one while waiting and, also while getting your haircut (don't worry the hairdressers don't drink on the job). The last couple times I've been there, it's been Yuengling. read more

FMO is a great spot, solid hair stylists and free beer to top it off if you want to quench your thirst. The tunes are always tight just like the fades and gentlemen cuts they specialize in. Svetlana is excellent, she listens to what you want done, confirms what she heard with you and then the magic happens. I like my hair done like GG, Gordon Gecko on Wallstreet. Slick, dapper dan type, full head of hair that draw out my laser blue alpha eyes and she makes that happen every time. Just last week a dude stopped me to ask where I get my hair done as he said no one in the town I was working in that day can make a fade stop a barking dog like the one on my head. My son goes with me now, he is 7 and rocks the same dew from Svetlana or any other stylist there. Drea is another one of our favorite stylists whose skills for the gentlemen cuts would make Rockafeller stand in line, this place is the best. read more

By far the BEST men's salon in State College! I went here all four years I attended Penn State. (I even planned my visits to come up once or twice each summer around getting a haircut). The salon offers Yuengling while you wait for and are getting your haircut, a neck shave and shampoo/condition with hot towel after your haircut, and free shape ups in between your visits, all for a very reasonable price! All of the ladies that work here are kind and skilled at their jobs, but Suzanne is my personal favorite. I trusted her with my hair for four years and she never let me down! All I had to do was bring her a reference photo and she delivered every time! I will be spending a long time trying to find a salon as good as this one in my new home in Boston, MA! If you're looking for a regular place to go for a haircut while you're at school, look no further, you've found it! read more

I went in today to get a mullet my hair was very long and growing in to have a long mullet I told her I wanted a mullet. I told her I didn't want the top very long and I didn't want it to be able to be combed over and that I want it so I didn't have to comb it and I didn't want my long hair in the back touched at all because I've been growing it out for a year and a half and it was a good 3 to 4 inches long in the back she gave me a comb over and she cut 75% of the hair that I told her not to touch off worst $40 I've ever spent I put the pictures down for reference of what it looked like before the cut and after so now I have to wait another year and a half and get my hair cut somewhere else was really hoping to have my mullet when my son was born in march like i did when my daughter was born but that's not gonna happen now read more

Went to this place for all four years in college only because it was the best place in state college. Go here for an OKAY haircut. For those that need an urban style, good luck finding someone. With that said, the only two people that can cut at the salon are Crystal and Leanne. DO NOT GO TO ANYONE ELSE THAT CUTS HERE. Others will rush your hair to get as many people as they can. Others are also rude and just do not have the ability to cut hair properly. Pros: Crystal and Leanne will do an okay job. Cons: Everyone else is terrible. Overpriced. Long waits during the school year. "Misplaces" your appointments. Gossiping hicks from central PA. read more

Tammy is absolutely AMAZING! I highly recommend scheduling with her if you are looking for a fresh cut. She is always willing to take the time to get to know her clients and definitely cares about them! I have never once been disappointed by her talent. She takes her time and effort to get it exactly how you want! I LOVE going to spend my time at this barber shop since she started working here. I promise that if you book with her you will not regret it! Such a wonderful kindhearted and talent lady! Thank you Tammy for being my barber! read more

Best place for a haircut in downtown state college hands down. I went there as a freshman for my first haircut at school and had Kate as my hairdresser. She gives me a perfect haircut every time. I have gone to her consistently through my entire four years at PSU, and neer had a bad haircut or an issue. Everyone who works there is so nice and they easily give the best haircuts in state college. I have recommended her and for men only to multiple people within my fraternity and almost all of them have been loyal customers. read more

Once I started getting my hair cut here I now can't go anywhere else. I always request Cassie and she has always been amazing with every cut/shape up I've gotten. She has always been extremely friendly and personable with every visit. This also applies to everyone I've ever interacted with at this location. The price is a good value when you consider the free shape up in between cuts and the scalp massage after having your hair cut. I always recommend this location to anyone who asks where I get my hair cut. read more

I moved back to State College four years ago and one of the things I was worried about was who was going to cut my hair. When I was a student, I had a couple horrible experiences at other places in town and was scared things didn't change much in a small college town. However, that was not the case with For Men Only. From day one, Tanya has taken great care of me and done a excellent job with my hair. Her service, professionalism, and style has all been great. I fully endorse her and For Men Only. read more

Kate has been my stylist for over two years and I cannot say enough good things about her. I've been growing my hair out and she has offered her keen attention and skill to help me all along the way. Every appointment feels like a visit with a cherished friend. And, at the end, my hair looks amazing from her efforts! In my experience, everything about For Men Only has reflected the exceptional talent and care of its staff. And that is why I wholeheartedly recommend it. read more

I have been here about 3 times now and I never leave disappointed or unsatisfied. Suzanne is wonderful and always does a tremendous job. The price may seem a little up there, but the things included in that price make it worth it (Cut, Shampoo, Neck clean-up with razor). On busy days, walk-ins can be tough to get, so I would suggest booking an appointment ahead of time. I have never had to wait. read more

I enjoy seeing Candi at least once a month for a great haircut and conversation. She will work with you based on your preferences. Once you find what you like, you can ask for the usual and she knows exactly what that means. However, if you want to try something new, she is supportive and encouraging. The atmosphere is laid back, friendly, and fun. Even the waiting area is comfortable! read more

I started going back to this place again and I've gotten great haircuts every time. The price is not bad and the haircut/shampoo & warm towel is a relaxing experience. Svitlana gave me a great haircut and she's fun to talk to. Definitely give this place a shot if you're looking for a haircut. Book an appointment because if you walk in during a busy time you can expect to wait 45 mins. read more

I've been getting hair cuts here for 3 years now. I've always been pleased with the results, and the price! The service in general is very pleasant. I recommend them whenever anyone asks. It is a far better cut than the regular chain places at nearly the same price. There's no down side other than they're frequently very busy, but that just shows their legitimacy. read more

One of the best places in state college to get your haircut. The staff is professional and friendly and will always make sure you are completely satisfied with your haircut. In additional they offer you free Yuengling beer while you wait and include a free shampoo and hot towel after each cut. Would highly recommend this location to anyone in town. read more

Tanya Rissmiller Hampton is a great stylist! She is very service oriented, professionally and consistently cutting my hair as I like it while readily engaging in very pleasant and interesting conversation. I recently moved to State College and consider myself very fortunate to have been able to find a hair stylist of Tanya's high quality. Dave E. read more

There is no better place in State College to get your hair styled hands down. The staff is friendly and courteous every time. They offer a free shape up to keep your haircut looking sharp and they have recently done some remodeling. I have gotten a haircut from a few different stylists there but Svitlana continues to impress! read more

Great place to go. I've been getting my haircut from Kate S. for years now - she's great. I have long hair, so it's not just a simple "quick cut". She always listens to "what I'm going for" in a cut, and always offers great suggestions to make it better because of my hair type. I can always trust her to make me look good. read more
