. Recently undertook a custom master bath and bedroom…read moreremodel. Solicited various quotes from three contractors and they were all over the board on price and weren't really forthright with my questions. Every time I said I wanted to do something the price went up even though I was only reinforcing what I wanted before they even quoted. Guess they didn't understand the word custom. We wanted Contractors ideas and the wow factor but even though they all said they had designers no such effort came forth in the quote. Since I had to pick everything out myself and did all the legwork i decided to "be my own Contractor sourcing my own materials and SubContractors. I searched far and wide for materials and saved myself $15k. Next I had to locate subcontractors to do the work. I found "Straight-line Painting and Tile" who did tiling, painting, schluter heated floor and curbless shower install and carpentry work. Plumbing was "Faith Plumbing", Shower Glass install was "Toler insulating", and electrical was "Wired Up Electrical". and the Ambrosia Maple hardwood was sourced from Danny Hylton in Goode. I even sourced the exact tub new on Craigs list (NC) for $1,000 saving from a local quote. This group worked extremely well together to complete the project and saved me $10-$15,000 in contractor project management which i could than apply to more upgrades. The whole key to pulling this off was having a sub like Straight line that could do a demolition, tile, carpentry, drywall, and finally paint, I like that you were willing to offer up options, pro and cons, and worked overtime to find a solution for the 2" slop on a steam shower ceiling and floor with two wall system. Your vast knowledge on so many topics really help me have confidence to project manage my own remodel. It's is so nice to have worked with a someone who loved their job and end product. I am lining up future project. Straight line tile is a Tile Installer Perfectionist". Toler glass shower installer said he has never seen such a level floor system. Within 1/16" which is unheard of. Straight-lines expertise was critical in helping me to schedule each of the subcontractors work to keep the project moving. I pretty much did all this work on a time and material basis knowing that errors would need to be corrected or that unexpected issues would need to be paid for. The other option would be hard quote with built in rework cost for unknowns that may not even happen. I would highly recommend any of these subs to handle your custom bath remodel. The master bath is equally as impressive but I didn't have "before" pictures to show and it included heated floor units. Just thought I would share as my experience was great with these guys and we ultimately got the WOW factor we were looking for. The bottom line is I used some of the $25k saving to get the latest and greatest custom features and these sub contractors are experienced on how to install the latest and greatest systems.

If you want your walls, that you will have to look at everyday, to be nice, DON'T hire this…read morecompany. The owner apparently "subbed" out the work to a guy that was NOT a painter. He was slow, lazy and a winier, who did more talking on phone than painting. He also jumped around so much he could not have possibly ensured total room was completed. One minute he's in one room painting, then the next in a total different room.. not finishing anything completely before moving onto next area. This, on the whole, was one of the most frustrating issues, phone & jumping around. We finally finished the rest of the house ourselves and fixed patches where he missed &/or sanded out the junk left behind on paint. It seemed he was using paint that had been frozen, set aside a lousy grade, as there was a lot of junk/clumps in buckets, which explains a lot. John, the owner, was only concerned about pay... he only came on job after we had a couple bad conversations and he wanted his partial. A good business would have stepped up and took over to ensure customers were happy with a nice job & timely, as promised. The sheet-rockers were just as horrible, which did effect painters job, but, he didn't even "try" to sand the snot off walls and just painted over them. We paid sub a few hundred bucks extra just for incentive and felt bad for him due to sheet rock, but didn't alleviate his complaining about his pay, which we had no control over since he was a sub. Finally he started sanding, but too late on most walls. We were told "most people don't even notice", What The....??? We also had a deadline, which owner knew, and after quite a few phone conversations, he finally fessed up, he knew this guy was slow. So, why on earth would he send him our way? We heard "After" hiring this company, his rep was NOT good, but too late! Just trying to save folks the anxiety we experienced and the work it took to fix walls & finish up before our move in. Owner priced the staining & to polyurethane pine ceiling also, which never happened & we took over that phase as well.

Tile lines are not lined up. Whole house was repainted due to the paint work being beyond unacceptable. The county building inspector thought their "final" paint work was only primer if that tells you anything. This business has several photos from our home where they are misleading people into believing the work is theirs. The "wood art installation with pendant lights" was not done by them. Not a single part of that light installation was done by them. The same cabinetry you see in that photo is also described in their gallery as "granite and cabinet install". They installed the cabinets....three times before they got them correct, even though they had the cabinet design plan with all measurements and specifications in hand from the beginning. They said the refrigerator panel the cabinet maker did was just an extra piece of material, didn't know what it was and tried to exclude it from the install. The "granite" is quartz and was NOT done by them as they imply. The custom built showers that they imply they built were simply them doing very subpar tile work without appropriate waterproofing, shower floors that did not drain properly due to inconsistent slope, and ultimately had to be ripped out and redone by a real professional. They did not construct any framing of those showers. Even lied about being able to install a niche and then said they couldn't. They boast about how they don't leave until you're satisfied but when we tried to point out issues, she blames everyone but herself and her work. Takes zero accountability. Blamed the drywall crew, blamed me. Even blamed the Sherwin Williams Super Paint for the paint issues, saying it was a bad paint. Look closely at her posted tile pics. I wish I had zoomed in on the work a lot closer, she would've never been hired to begin with. Also, if you have more than one contractor working your project, she will try to create conflict between you and your other contractors. Do yourself a favor and just hire someone else!

Jose has been here since to perform whatever yard tasks we need done. This includes mowing the grass (edging and cleaning up); re-defining areas of mulch beds; planting plants and shrubs, trimming branches; and sometimes taking down small trees. My wife appreciates Jose's help with her gardening projects, especially his willingness to help her design and build new and sometimes uniquely shaped flower beds around the yard. She also appreciates that he takes his time and seems to have infinite patience in the process. Jose is a conscientious hard worker with a sense of humor as well as a desire to help us find the right products for the right applications. He arrives on time or communicates any delay well in advance. We appreciate that Jose pays attention to details and has the desire to get things done the way we requested. Sometimes he has an even better idea about something. At times, Leticia, Jose's wife, will come and work with him. She is equally a delight to have around and is also a hard worker who pays attention to detail quietly and methodically. Last summer she came and did a great job putting down mulch in my wife's many flower beds and helped her in general cleaning up debris in one large garden area. Yes, I can say wholeheartedly that my wife and I are very happy with the services of J. L. Handy Pro provided by Jose Navarro and his wife Leticia.

We had 3 bedrooms, full living room, hallway and all closets changed over from carpet to luxury vinyl flooring. The flooring we chose was called Cali flooring and had the rustic barn look to it with knot holes and scrapes and a very rustic look. It had alot of color variation in it that matched up perfect with our baseboards and wall coloring. They delivered the flooring about a week before install to help it acclimate to the temperature of our house. All we had to do was empty the furniture we had in each room. They moved all the furniture out in a very delicate and organized way as to not damage the furniture or walls. The installation crew was beyond nice and helpful and hard hard workers but also put their passion into it and for creating a beautiful product for us. I tell you this job was done in one day......ONEDAY. Ripped up carpets, moved furniture made sure what was under carpet was level and sturdy then they started installing flooring quick and fast workers but quality was 5 star all day no huge mess to clean up closets were done and trimming was stained to match and put down. I say they started around 7am and finished up about 5:30 and all trash was removed the whole job was complete and the crew were nothing but nice and courteous thruout the whole process. The owner came to sign off and do a walk thru and ask us how we liked it.....WE LOVE IT. The prices weren't much different from other flooring places but the professionalism was off the charts. I'm glad we chose to work with Floor Coverings International out of Shawsville VA and would recommend them anyday for your flooring needs. Also the owner gave us his personal cell and home phone for any problems we had. Well about a week later the transition into the kitchen when we stepped on it it would squeek real loud. I called him and in no time had a crew member stop by and fix the issue. That's also what sold us on them was the willingness to stand behind their install and product. If we ever have any more flooring needs we know where we are going. Payment was easy we payed half up front and financed the rest for 12 months no interest and will pay it off before the year is up. But his receptionist took time and walked us through the process and everything went so smooth. Thank you guys for all your hard work much appreciated and we absolutely love our new floors, it changed the look and feel of our house so much and remember this wasn't a 2 or 3 day install it took only one day so we didn't have to worry about stuff outside or rain or anything. 5 stars all day I'd give more if I could.
