She came up with a pair of Nikes, and got down on the floor to see if the right one would fit over the brace. It was a struggle, but she persevered, and got it on. I said "we'll take them!" I was pleasantly suprised at the price, and we had a MUCH better experience than at the bigger stores (think "Wal-Mart")

A flat tire takes about 15 minutes to fix. Dicks is not the place to go for bike repair.

This is a complaint and warning about Dick's Sporting Goods in Sarasota Florida. I was…read moreunfortunately misled into purchasing a product that is not legal in the league where I play and, when I returned it, would not be accepted for a refund or credit toward the purchase of a legal product. Just to get me out of the store, they suggested that I reach out to the manufacturer and ask them to facilitate the exchange. I was incredulous, of course, because one would never expect a manufacturer to facilitate the exchange of a product that was sold through either misguided or self-serving misrepresentation by one of its retailers. Indeed, I just heard back from the manufacturer who said that they will only exchange a bat with the defects. I am not even going to bother to take this back to Dick's because I know I would get upset and nobody wants to get upset about being ripped off when they're holding a baseball bat. The product I am referring to is a softball bat for the Senior League of Sarasota. When I explained what I needed and what league I was in, Dick's employee told me to buy a senior softball bat that is a certified 1.20. When I got to the first game in the league, I was told the bat needed to be a 1.21. When I returned to Dick's with proof of purchase and the bat in perfectly good shape (virtually unused) they would not issue a refund or credit. They said they would not do so because the wrapper had been removed and yet several bats were for sale on the rack without wrappers. The bat that I have is no use to me. I have since learned through an internet chat on the Dicks website that Dick's does not even carry the type of bat that I want, which certainly adds to the suspicion that the sale was made so the guy would get a commission or some kind of sales credit rather than send me empty handed to another store. I have been a long-time customer of Dick's and had even bought another product at the same time as I bought the bat. We often shopped for clothes. Now I'm going to give the brand new bat to Goodwill, spend $100 or more on the type bat that is legal for our league, and suffer the $89 loss that Dick's has foisted upon me. I had always Associated the retail chain with good customer service, a nice product selection, and a sufficient level of quality and service expertise, as well as product selection, that the higher prices are worth it. It goes without saying that I will never shop there again and I have spent the time, plus $89, to write this negative review and warning to you. If you trust them to give you informed service, to be accountable for their mistakes, and to stand behind you economically when you are counting on them, your trust is not well placed with Dick's Sporting Goods, at least not in Sarasota. Brooks are my go to athletic shoe for cardio and the inserts make a huge difference for support too. Plenty of brands Hoka, On, Asics, etc. There are even clearance sales and full priced shoes. Plus the collection of feetures socks is A+! So, be aware- they offer a $30 annual "membership" that will offer you 10% discount in any of their stores on online. By the time, you spend close to $150+ for a pair of shoes, it may make sense!

Upon entering, I was greeted by several employees. I happened to find a pair of $10 Nikes in the kids section. My daughter DID need shoes! I found two sizes, one a slightly different style that was $20. I bought them both, just in case one didn't fit. The cashier asked if I found everything I was looking for. I actually was interested in getting a pair of fall-colored Birkenstock sandals. She directed me to the Birkenstock section, and they had several different styles with a size of each. I found a pair I liked and checked out. They had been sold out on Amazon in my size so I was happy to find them. The price was usual Birkenstock price.The cashier also notified me of their loyalty program, which earned me a $10 coupon upon check out! I had a great chat with the friendly cashier upon check out as well. One pair of the Nikes had to be returned as they were too small. I wanted a pair just like my daughters in the same size, so I called a nearby location. They put them on hold for the next day. I returned the smaller Nikes and purchased the bigger ones quite easily. My loyalty program had my receipt saved in it, so that part was a breeze. I will be returning.
