The service by Pam was lovely and if we were local, we would absolutely come back.

They have an extensive wine list; so my husband and I each did a tasting of 6 ($10), and then ordered the smoked salmon plate ($25). We then took a seat out on the terrace overlooking the beautiful winery and vineyard. Not long after we were seated, we were served our wine flights and salmon plate. Let me first say that the smoked salmon plate was beautifully presented and very delicious. The salmon was tender and moist, accompanied with cream cheese and a wonderful pepper jelly. Oh, so good. My wine flight was mostly whites. My favorite tastes were the sauvignon blanc (not a typical suave blanc, less acidic with a smooth finish); the chardonnay, and the rose. But I enjoyed all the wines I tasted. Also note that they have a small gift shop with some very cute items. I'm so very glad we came here. Great staff, great views, great food and great wine. We will definitely be back again next time we are in the area.

I saw a post on Facebook about this winery. Finding it wasn't easy, but it's surely worth it once…read moreyou get there. It's in the group of buildings across the road from Kruse Farms. You have to go down the road a ways to find the gate in the fence to get in. But it's there. Trust me. Once you get there and meet Scott & Jennifer Henry, you'll want to stay a while. This is an outgoing couple that's passionate about their wines and about growing succulent house plants. They are very good at both. They have no vineyards of their own, but buy grapes from growers across Southern Oregon. They feel this arrangement allows them to get grapes from many different regional climates and greatly expands the variety they have to work with. And not tending a vineyard gives them more time to devote to wine making. Their results are impressive. For Rose, we took home a bottle of 2013 "Transparency", a white blend of 57% Muller Thurgau, 28% Muscat and 15% Riesling. Delightfully fruity, slightly sparkling, slightly sweet. For me we got the 2012 Syrah, actually a blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache, a very interesting raspberry and spice experience. If the tasting room is a bit hard to find and keeps short hours, it's okay. You can find their products on some local grocery store shelves, including Sherm's Thunderbird in Roseburg. Yum. I stopped for the night at a wonderful riverside hotel and asked for a nice place for dinner…read more They had a few recommendations but the Parrott House stood out. It is a Victorian Mansion. (With several ghosts) set on a hill. The food was delicious, the ambiance was delightful, and service was attentive but not "in your face". The whole evening was special.

It has been a year since I've been to the Parrot House and wanting to try their reinstated buffet…read more I like a buffet where you can try different foods. I really wanted to like this place because it's the one fairly fancy place in town...but, it was a disappointing experience. We got to the restaurant for our 10am reservation but the door didn't open until exactly 10. People huddled under the porch because it was raining fairly hard. We were shown inside, then back outside to another room to our table. We ordered and they said the buffet was in the tent-outside. So, coat & rain hood back on to go to the buffet. Unfortunately, the buffet wasn't ready so we went back to our seats. The buffet wasn't ready for around 20 minutes-because some of the kitchen crew called in sick so they were operating with less help. The remaining crew was working hard to get it set up. So they were doing a good job-they just needed more help. The buffet had: Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy, Jalapeño Cheddar Bagels, Smoked Salmon, Salad, Dressing, Potato Dill Soup, an Omelet bar and Prime Rib. Unfortunately, most of the food we got wasn't warm. I think the top of the chafing dishes were able to cool off, even though, the bottom was hot. Didn't know that until going back in. Thats a dangerous situation where bacteria can grow. The bread was excellent. It was a chewy Italian bread. The butter balls were firm so hard to spread. There were bagels and smoked salmon but it would have been nice to have something other than just jalapeño cheddar bagels for the smoked salmon. Maybe, get something more neutral in flavor that more people would eat. I think I have fairly normal tastes and love biscuits & gravy but the biscuits and gravy had an odd flavor to me. I wasn't a fan but that may be a preference. The prime rib was ok but not terribly tasty. The Potato dill soup was just ok, too. The omelet bar probably was the safe choice since you pick your ingredients but I make those often at home so I wanted to try other things. I think they are trying to be fancy instead of just making good food that everybody would like. Service was good. We did have to wait for coffee but overall they were nice and did a good job letting people know when the buffet was ready. Overall: Ambiance is 5/5; Service 4/5, Food-the temperature, late food and having to walk in the rain to the tent and back with a plate of food while getting rained on drops the overall score to 3/5. Opening that heavy door with a plate of food is a problem, too. Maybe have the tent right outside the entrance to the main dining room so your customers and their full plates don't have to be out in the rain. There has to be a better way.
