Darra is known for its Asian grocery stores, authentic Viet/Chinese restaurants, but this fresh food market in Darra has got to be one of the best here. It may look a bit run down from the outset, but definitely not compromised in terms of stock. The fruit are all good quality but they are not the most good looking. Some are oddly shaped, mismatched and with slight grazes, but still very tasty. In fact, there was a fruit picker who once told me that, big super market chains prefer to pick really traditionally good looking fruit, but it may not necessarily product the best taste. Whereas, small grocers like this are happy to sell on the odd looking ones with good rich flavour at a fraction of the cost. I would urge you all to give these little guys a chance, it's worth it. K & K Fresh Food Market don't just sell fresh fruit and veg produce, they also have an extensive range of Asian canned and packet goods inside the store. You will find a massive range in noodles from thin rice noodles to thick egg noodles, a variety of rice and packeted frozen meats. There is plenty of Asian cooking oil, sauces, seasonings, spices and more to be found here at considerably low prices to that in Woolies or Coles. If you are planning on making an Asian dish, I would highly recommend going to this ethnic grocer, K & K's, as opposed to a bit chain supermarket, so you can get the most authentic flavours at a fraction of the cost. I would also like to add, that this place is quite busy on weekends particularly on a Sunday where there is often a rush of people after mass investing in their weekly household goods.

Popcorn, fresh fish, meat, flowers, all kinds of produce, wool, ton of food trucks, live music. My friend got the Japanese pancakes and I had a bite. Very fluffy and a touch of sweetness. I had a hankering for eggs so I found a truck called Mum's Crepes mmmm mm I got a nice piping hot cheese and mushroom omelette $8 plus 1.50 per extra topping. Very neat marketplace experience. Mind you we all love food so this was the perfect spot. There were so many tents lined up and so many different vendors to choose from. It was like super farmer's market compared to what I'm used to at home in Hawai'i. We walked around for bit just eyeing out all the different food. There is definitely something for everyone here. Also, a great place to buy produce and meat. Probably for a cheaper price than you would find in a grocery store. Because we couldn't decide on one food stand we decided to get food from multiple ones lol. We got out drinks from a tea stand. We got liliko'i and mango teas. There was one stand where they were selling breaky sammies for $5 and they were huge! We got one of those and a gian samosa from an Indian vendor. The samosa was almost the size of my hand. Ain't gonna find any samosas like that in Hawai'i unless you make em yourself. We also got pork belly shish kabobs. It was a great experience and so much fun too! If you're ever in Brisbane I recommend going to Rocklea markets. Everyone just seemed so happy and excited even though it was a bit rainy that day. It was also a good place for families. The have a huge variety of fruit and what Woolies doesn't have, they're more likely to have it. The produce are so fresh and for the sizes all are great value for money. All the fruit and vegetables are immaculately presented you almost don't want to take something away to ruin its presentation. The family who run this fresh produce shop are very friendly and always willing to lend a helpful hand in fruit and veg picking.

We got some rather large Chicken Drumsticks for $3.99/kg which is a pretty good price and also some really nice Rump Steak for $8.99/kg. These went down a treat at our family barbeque and I am happy to report that we've been back since then many times. They have great sirloin, the meats are always pretty fresh and the guys there are really friendly as well. Great for barbeque's and family packs if you're after then.

It is jam packed with people pushing a cart trying to buy a bargain, from toasters to plastic tumblers. I won't deny it, the bargains are quite good but included in this discount is the not-so-good service. It's not a problem that you don't get your groceries bagged, or that you have to pay for the bags yourself, it's the customer service. I was in here recently and I heard the check-out staff sharing some (terrible) comments about the previous customer. As a customer myself, I did not want to hear it and it's certainly not appropriate for the staff to talk about customers like that. If you ignore the lack of service and don't't mind the limited stock, then it might be okay. But really, it's not the best shopping experience.
