This was the only store near Lake Monticello and we were on a beer and food run for the weekend stay. The store was well stocked and had a great produce selection. Was also impressed with their beer selection and how many local beverages they carried. They have an ok selection of items considering it's the only grocery store at Lake Monticello. I never mind shopping here, but we generally do our larger grocery runs elsewhere. The employees have always been friendly. Produce seems fresh but limited in options. There's an aisle of wine and beer which is convenient for the area. I do wish they had more cheeses and lately their ice cream freezers seem to be running a tad bit too warm. read more

Reviews are interesting animals ! I just want dinner and the food lion normally closes at 11 ! I just got off of work from the medical center! Not having a good day ! So I got there right at 10 and sat in the car for 8 minutes ! I got in the at 10:08 and they are closed at 10 for renovations that's been going on since April!No the place you to go to ! This grocery store is in the middle of nowhere! Sign says 11 and they close at at 10 due to construction! My reassured me that they had a much smaller sign that described there plight ! Liked the friendly service from cashier and baked goods (coconut cookies and blueberry bagels). Also like the Brie cheese plus peanut butter and strawberry preserves. Sorry to say not many markets of this sort have tasty and affordable baked goods as well as friendly cashiers. Thankfully, easy to park and not too crowded on a Saturday in May at around 6 pm. read more

This is the only chain larger size grocery store in Palmyra! Checkers are nice and very quick to get you in and out. Full deli and bakery department... Nice meat section with some special surprises. They have a health food type of section like they do at whole foods and better markets which is nice. Pretty decent wine selection as well. read more

Produce looks good, fresh! No soy cheese, boo! Good customer service from one stock person but the cashier never asked for my card & prices charged didn't match the sale signs. Signed up for a store card at a machine. Soup cans were damaged so i gave it back to cashier, she never asked if i wanted to get replacement. Only go if u don't want to drive to walmart. Its the only grocery store in the area so prices reflect that. read more

The people who work in this particular store are friendly, courteous and helpful almost unerringly. The prices are middle of the road and selections are limited; Neither of these things are an issue. But if you want *fresh*, I'd suggest another grocery. In the past few months I've had to return so many items, it's frustrating. Melted together, then re-frozen mostly. read more

I would like to give this store more starts but I have never been in any Food Lion in any state and felt like this is the place I want to buy my groceries. The biggest problem is the service. When you check out, most of the clerks are rude. If you say "Thank You" when you are through, they don't even acknowledge that you said anything. When you can't find something, try to find somebody to help you. I, most of the time, will drive into Charlottesville and shop at just about any other grocery store. If Food Lion would spend more money on customer service and paying better wages for employees, they could do what Whole Foods does. I don't think I have ever seen them advertise. They don't have too, because the employees at Whole Foods and most other grocery store care about the customers. read more

It seems like this Food Lion is only or one of the few chain stores here, the store is pretty large, everything is organized and neat, they also have a nice selection of alcoholic drinks and for me being from Maryland buying liquor from grocery store is so different and amazing experience! read more

I shop at this store a couple of times a week; not because I like the store, because it's close to my home. I have noted on each visit that the checkout clerks are the "most rude, unfriendly people" I have encountered. The deli staff is great! The people sticking the shelves are wonderful, very helpful and friendly. It is very apparent that the checkout clerks do not like their jobs! Rapidly updating selection to better quality, trendier foods while keeping prices the lowest by far overall. I still have to go to Charlottesville or Richmond for specialty foods, but nealy all the basics are best here. Clerks are usually friendly, shelf stockers always offer help, and the customers are amazingly friendly. I stop on my way home to pick up little stuff. When I first moved here, this store was much nicer and friendlier people. The shelves are never fully stocked. The selections are minimal. They stopped carrying my dog's basted retriever rolls, and Milk Bone Dental sticks that are not the mint green kind. I much prefer the short drive to Giant at Pantops, or for best quality, Wegman's. I really wish Kroger would build a store in Zion Crossroads, and bring some competition to the area! read more
