Great local market in small town... Anything you need for a quick stop to market. Produce is ok, meat selections are great. They have a full hot food bar like the bigger grocery stores. Difference is most items are hand made and delicious. Great fried chicken too. On one side of store they have a DMV that is super convenient. Redbox outside store front. On Fridays they have A barbecue outfront that serves hot dogs and hamburgers only for a couple bucks. (weather permitting) During Summer months snow cones outside for the kids! read more

TL;DR: selection and food is great, service SUCKS. This little store is awesome. The food quality is incredible and the selection is great, but comes with a slight mark up due to convenience/mom&pop/etc. No problem. My rating is due to the fact that I feel like no one cares about me as a customer. Priced wrong? Bring me the tag so that you can pay the regular full price and work for us for free. Sorry, our signage is incorrect? Take it down so no one else gets confused and you work for us for free again. . . . Thank you?. . . Nope. I literally feel discriminated against everytime I checkout despite my attempts to change the outcome by being introverted versus extroverted. Checkout example: "Hey how are y'all doing?" "(Silence)" "Y'all been busy today?" "Eh." "Well, are y'all having a good day?" "(Silence)" "Ok thanks see ya!" "(Silence)".. . . Other way around: (silence from me) (silence from them) . . . Uhhh ok at least tell me what I owe? "Oh yeah xxxx." ..... I can get more courtesy by saying hi to a UVa student jeez. I've been going here for 3 years and have had about 5 explicit "Hello, how are you?" pleasant and regular interactions with employees, cashiers, and deli-workers alike (from over 500 interactions). That's a tough percentage to take as a business. Worst part, is that the seasonal kids are always the friendly ones. Today was the last straw. Deli guy (whom I've been as kind as possible to) spoke over my shoulder to his friend three times as he handed my order to me while I repeated the same gratuitous phrases: "Thanks for what you do", "I appreciate you", "Thank you sir" . . . . With literally no acknowledgment that I existed. I then went to check out and said "Hey, how are y'all?" to the cashier and bagger. Response: . . . (Crickets). Cashier checks me out, bagger bags my stuff in silence, I pay (with a small piece of my soul), then we all look at each other and I say: "Hope you have a good one!" . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . Surprise . . . . . . everyone looks away and no one responds. No "thanks for spending 33% more with us than food lion!". . . No cold-hearted "bye" . . Literally nothing. First I want to say I am writing this because I am so disappointed in this local grocery store. Several times I have tried to place an order for fried chicken something that is really good at this store. I have tried to call at various times of the day to place an order only to reach a busy line for close to 2-3 hours before giving up or have some answer only to say they will transfer me to the deli and then be hung up on or I get the deli and im told they don't take orders or it's first come first served only to be told when I get there that I have to place and order (while I stare at a bin full of chicken in the warmer). But today was the worse. After not ordering for the past 6 months or more I decided to try yet again only to first have the phone hung up then I called again and the young lady asked politely can I put you on hold which I said yes. But I was not put on hold the phone was I guess laid down by her and for the next 10 minutes I listen to the lady talk to another employee, heard her ring up several customers and talk to them all while I'm waiting to be transferred to the deli. After 15 minutes I hung up. Is it too much to just transfer a customer to the area they ask for? Is it too much to be consistent on how to order, not order the chicken. Stop changing the rules. I guess you don't need the patronage or the money. Maybe it's me but I heard others say the same thing happen about them. I want to support local business but I guess it will be a long time before I try again. This has nothing to do with short staffing or Covid. It is just poor customer service. Sorry to say all this. I really like this store. Everytime I have needed something that I have no clue which section of any store it might be found, employees have taken me to find it. The meat and deli sections are outstanding. The staff are friendly, nice and kind. read more

Small town, family grocery store with friendly and efficient staff, including bag boys who will carry your bags out to car! Outstanding meat department, average produce most days unless you happen to be there when they are selling a local farmer's goods; picked in the morning and for sale by lunch time in the store - then the produce is awesome, extremely fresh and oh- so- wonderful! Everything in the deli and hot food bar is fresh -their fried chicken is best I have ever had, their macaroni/pasta salads are delicious,pickled beets are very good, cobblers are wonderful, their lunch meat is high quality and fresh. On Fridays, they cook and sell hot dogs, hamburgers and steak sandwiches in front of store in front of store and it takes on the atmosphere of a block party with people standing around outside while eating lunch and chatting. Would much rather shop here than a chain grocery store. read more
