Friendly early Saturday morning staff. Shelves being stocked in almost every isle. Very helpful.

Could be a little better if the clerks didn't socialize so much with the people trying to check out. Other people are waiting so save the circus for afterwards when its time to get off work PLEASE ! Chatting takes up time the other people don't have to waste while you have your convo.. The deli could use a little more friendly people and more selections and some of the produce looks kinda old. This is October so why no pumpkin pies ? The prices are a bit too high, but I know, they are high everywhere ! Thanks for reading ! read more

holly carter so called manager very very bad customer service today at our local food lion i always try to utilize that store because we are local and we try to support local but no more. there was a very rude so-called manager in there who refused to cash a check for us that was off my husband's payroll from his boss because it had a signed signature and it wasn't computerized signature. i told her i said this is done numerous times here. we've never once had an issue, but she continued to argue with me until i asked her to go read the rules on the internet and she did and she come back out and said you are right but she never would admit she was wrong. she never would apologize for being wrong. she was rude and this is not the first time that she has been rude. i've heard it from numerous employees. they're also that her customer service skills are extremely horrible. something needs to be done with this lady because i got upset i got angry. i got rude because i knew that they had cash to check before and she argued with me until i asked her to go read the rules. i personally asked her if i could use their phone to contact food lion corporate office to let them know how she was treating me. she refused for me to use the food lion phone to contact corporate. there was no other manager there at this time around 2:30, 3 o'clock when this happened she said she was the manager well that's the best y'all have for a manager i will from now on go to weis or martins i will no longer be treated like that and then when she walked out to tell me that i was right she, i said you owe me an apology. she said i don't owe you anything because you've been nothing but rude. yes, i was rude because i knew i was right. something needs to be done with this lady. she has treated us like this numerous times and i understand through other employees that she treated other people like this it's time y'all take a stand. this is why local people no longer shop there and choose to go to other locations such as walmart because you have rude people like this you have a lot of great people there i can name them off it's amazing some of the good people that you have there, but this one bad seed needs to go that's the way she's gonna treat customers and apologize when she is wrong she needs to go i would love for someone from corporate office to contact me about this experience read more

Mikayla is the best. She has gone way above trying to help me. I don't recommend using there online food pick up service. They use instacart. This company charges you for services with out your knowledge. It just shows up on you bank statement after you have picked up your order. I will never use pick up service again. Mikayla did everything she could to fix this problem. She's the type of employee everyone should be. She could definitely give classes on how to treat your customers. Food Lion should hope she never leaves. She definitely saved a customer (me) from not walking away and never shopping there again. Great job Makayla. You Rock!! I think they improved! Staff is friendly. There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices. Veggies are fresh. The place looks nice and new. Apple Pay is accepted. Keep up the good work, Food Lion Madison team! read more

Manager very rudely informed me "we're closed," that was all he said and he started to shut the door on me until he saw me look over to the store hours sign, then explained that they were closing early for construction...as far as I could tell there was no sign stating that they were closing early for construction, google says they're open until 10, but I pass three different grocery stores on my way home, probably try them in the future for their reliability and more personable staff read more

I stopped in here on the way from NoVA to Charlottesville on 4th of July to grab beer. This store needs a little sprucing up; I think it is just old and long forgotten. The staff was nice, but did appear to be overwhelmed and somewhat short. The bathrooms are horrendous so just avoid those all together. You will thank me later. The lines were insane, which is to be expected on a holiday, but since it is expected, it is helpful to have more than 2 lanes open, hint hint Food Lion. read more

This Food Lion is giving itself a makeover to come up to speed with the trend of grocery stores around the country forgoing their aging fluorescent lighting and stark white metal aisles for wooden shelves with recessed lighting, crates of straw encasing the vegetables and probably more organic products than is a market for in the surrounding neighborhoods. It doesn't need it, since they had almost everything you'd expect from a grocery store, but I'm sure it'll look pretty. read more

This is the fanciest Food Lion I have ever visited! The whole store was very clean and well-stocked. They had lots of high-end items as well as pre-made take-and-cook foods. Nicely organized and easy to navigate. read more

We stopped here to get supplies while going to the Graves Mtn Lodge bluegrass festival... the music was so loud and annoying, we could not hear ourselves talk! We'll not stop here anymore, because the employees got mad when we asked could they turn down the music. read more
