Yes, the…read moreprices are a smidge high and yes they don't have everything you need, but still, it's always a wonderful stop to grab some essentials, and things you never know you needed. Like a fox candle! Ha! I love seeing how they have new vegetables and produce every now and then. Back in the day before the pandemic (and maybe they still have this?), they'd have nights where there was a select menu and you could have a weeknight meal for an affordable price. Kind of like Cafeteria food. They gave you coins to pay for it, and the turn out was always so robust. It was a really nice way to get the community together and also try dishes that you probably hadn't had in a while, or even ever. I remember those events, being the talk of the town. My friends would mark on their calendars that it was a "no-cook night" and to meet them there. Fun times. I've been meaning to sign up for their owners program, that is on my to-do list. By donating a certain amount to the co-op, you become a founding member and help support the co-op. It's a sweet way to be involved and invest in the Durham community. I also love the parking situation at the co-op, you are never fighting for a place to park, and the parking spots are not razor thin. At the front of the store, there is a grassy area with picnic benches, and I find it so inviting. People are having lunch dates there, sharing snacks, and just enjoying the weather. I will say though, the co-op is one of those places that I have to remember to go to. Now that I'm writing out all that I love about it, I will continue to keep it on my mind.

I love coming here for the variety of foods and desserts that they offer. And I've even gotten salad from the salad bar, which was quite good. It is however, quite expensive and not at all a place I would shop for actual groceries. My boyfriend wants bought a little bag of cookies for basically $12 and I was shocked at the price. Service kind of meh, I was once walking around for ages, trying to figure out where to put forks and spoons once being finished and there was really no one to help me. I also stood at the counter waiting to ask someone and basically got ignored (back hot food area). I'd really only be back for special foods and desserts on a rare occasion

When I pointed this out to the female owner, she very rudely retorted that that is why the item was discounted. That made me recollect that about a year ago I found plain lachchi (yogurt drink) outdated by about a month. At that time, I noted the expiration date after the rotten taste in trying to drink it. Glad I recently discovered "Spice Bazaar" nearby. Plan to not only more carefully check for expiration dates, but also minimize groceries from South Asian stores.

I went to Little India because my favorite Indian grocery store, Spice Bazaar, was closed for the…read moreday. Admittedly, I was able to get what I needed and their prices are fine. Not great, but fine. The problem I had was mainly the person working there. They weren't rude, but they were definitely not even getting close to friendly. They also not only did not have a sign asking patrons to wear masks (as is currently the law) but the employee working was not wearing a mask either. He did not even attempt to correct it. He went into the back a couple times while I was shopping and, at no time did he return with a mask on. Lastly, one of the things I love about Spice Bazaar is that, the instant you walk in, you are hit with the wonderful smell of all these spices. Little Indian just kind of smells musty, leading me to believe the spices are older or not as fresh. I'll go back in if I absolutely need to, but plan on being more organized with my grocery shopping so I don't have to.
