How do you rank a gas station? Lowell Market is way above and beyond your usual rural stop and…read moreshop, so I'm giving it five stars. They have pretty much all the necessities, including beer and wine. It's the fried chicken that locals come for, however. I finally got to try it recently, and it lives up to the hype. It's neither greasy nor dry, but right in the middle. Not too battered, either. I had it with a cup of beans and cornbread. Both were good. The beans DO have pork in them, so no go for vegetarians and vegans. Particularly good with hot sauce, which is at every table in the small seating area (that also has counter seating). Son was excited to see they carry Faygo, and he bought a case. Stop in if you are in the area!

I was surprised to find a store selling Birkenstocks, Teva sandals and Hydro Flask water bottles in such a small town in WV. They also had a nice selection of clothing and accessories for both men and women. On the second floor, they have the Otter Cafe which is a coffee shop that sells pastries. My chai latte was amazing! Better than the ones I get at Starbucks in Charleston, SC. I also tried a chocolate cream horn which is basically an ice cream cone- shaped pastry with chocolate cream in the middle. Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

The sodas, peach pie, pepperoni roll were great. We swung around for a 2nd trip to grab more sodas (buy 3, get 1 free deal) and grabbed the pepperoni roll and peach pie dessert. Both food items were deliciously made in-house and were great road trip snacks.
