I decided and came for lunch today and I will say it did not disappointment like I thought it would. I'm always down to try a place atleast once. So let's get into this review shall we!? Upon walking in my husband and I were greeted by the hostess and you'll see a big chalkboard with their weekly specials. We were sat in the back by a window so it was nice to have a view. Everything looked good on the menu. We started off with shrimp and some oysters and the oysters were topped with collard greens and cheese they were good but the oysters were just HUGE! For my entree I had a shrimp po'boy with a side of the bacon collards again they were really good. My only issue is that for my po'boy the bread was not a roll but it was still satisfying. My husband had the fish platter with grouper and trigger fish with fries and coleslaw. We absolutely loved the grouper it reminded me of red snapper. However we will be back and I love a cutie, rustic looking restaurant.

PALERMO PUERTO RICAN... UN AMOR PROHIBIDO…read more Ay, Dios mío... I walked into Palermo Puerto Rican in Florida thinking I was simply going to have dinner. Pero NO. What happened that day was something much more dangerous... I fell in love. I ordered the Christmas Plate, and the moment it arrived at the table, I froze. Pork. Arroz con gandules. Pasteles. Plátanos maduros. I whispered... "No puede ser..." One bite, and suddenly I wasn't in Florida anymore. I was back in Puerto Rico during Las Navidades. I could almost hear the coquí, the music, the laughter of family, and somebody in the distance yelling, "¡Dale, que llegó la comida!" The pork was tender and full of flavor. The arroz con gandules tasted like Christmas memories on a plate. The pasteles... AY, LOS PASTELES! I wasn't emotionally prepared. And those sweet plátanos maduros came into my life like the forbidden lover my mother warned me about. I looked at my plate and said: "¡¿POR QUÉ?! ¿POR QUÉ TUVE QUE CONOCERTE AHORA?" Because this wasn't dinner anymore. ESTO ERA AMOR PROHIBIDO. Every bite brought back memories of Puerto Rican Christmases--the food, the family, the music, the alegría, the traditions. It was nostalgia, happiness, heartbreak and romance all served on one plate. And when the last bite was gone... I stared at the empty plate like the final scene of a telenovela. "No te vayas... todavía tenemos una vida juntos." Palermo Puerto Rican, you didn't just feed me. You took me home. And now our love may be complicated... it may be dangerous... it may even be forbidden... PERO VOLVERÉ. Because some loves are simply too powerful to forget. ¡QUE VIVA PUERTO RICO, QUE VIVA LA NAVIDAD... Y QUE VIVA ESTE AMOR PROHIBIDO!

Everything was delicious. Maybe put a Cuban on the menu?…read moreThe pork was so tender and flavorful. The mofongo was not dry at all! Sangria was perfect. Not to much citrus! I would come back again when in the area.

Noticed Callahan's was nearby and I had never ate there so I decided to pop in for a visit. One look over the appetizer list and I immediately knew I had to get the Irish Egg Rolls which consist of cabbage, corned beef, and shredded mozzarella and is served with a side of mustard and thousand island dressing for dipping. The egg rolls were perfect deep fried and had that great corned beef and cabbage flavor and they tasted wonderful dipped in mustard. I would definitely get these again and again in the future. For the burger I just went with their classic smash burger with pepper jack cheese. It was really good, a standard burger. Nothing bougie, nothing fancy. Just a nice, classic burger with great flavor. Came with your standard toppings. Lettuce, pickle, tomato, onion, and ketchup, mayo, and mustard on the side. Service and staff was friendly and made me feel very welcome. It felt like one of those places that remembers the names of all of their regular customers. I loved the atmosphere of the place and I look forward to a future visit to try more of the menu.

We stood at the front door for a solid 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. The place was full but there were a couple of empty tables needing to be cleaned. When we were finally sat, no one did a drive by to let us know about drinks or ordering. Another 10 minutes and we ended up leaving. The place was lively and a band was on stage which was set up for half the restaurant. I can appreciate that set up so the whole restaurant is not in front of the band. It felt like a lot of locals which is great for them. Maybe this isn't a spot to consider if you don't have hours to hang out. Unfortunately, we weren't able to dine so can't comment on the food.

We started with the Gyoza, which is always a reliable favorite here. I ordered a mix of sushi including Tamago, a Philly Roll (properly made with smoked salmon!), and the Holiday Roll. The Holiday Roll was an incredible surprise--I absolutely loved it. Bonus: the portions were large enough that I had plenty of leftovers for lunch today. Lauren got the Drunken Noodles, but fair warning on the spice levels: she usually handles heat well and ordered a Spice Level 2, but it was incredibly fiery! She probably should have stuck to a Level 1, though she still managed to eat a good bit of it. The decor inside this location is fantastic, and watching the robot waiter cruise around the dining room adds such a fun touch to the atmosphere. Highly recommend! I had a plum cinnamon tea which was also great and hit the spot on a rainy day. The WiFi connected but wouldn't open any pages except google, so that was a bummer. I'd love to see for-here food come in an actual plate or bowl. The bowl mine came in had all the egg & sausage on the bottom, so you ate grits first then everything else. Still, I'd come back and try more things. I also tried the chocolate banana thing (muffin? Donut? Cupcake.) and found it pretty disappointing. The cake part itself is good, very moist. Too moist to be a donut or a muffin, so it must be a cupcake, which is weird considering the shape. The icing was awful. It's so overpoweringly sweet it doesn't taste like chocolate or banana, just sugar. If you don't scrape it off, it makes the whole thing way too sweet.
