Huge portions!! No frills, mom and pop shop recommended by fellow Yelper Azurine! The ramen is something I have never tried before. It had a thicker broth consistency and almost a little sweet and the egg omelet on top was also pretty interesting. Definitely large enough to share. We also got the fried liver which has the gaminess you have to like, but the crisp is there - leaning more towards the extra fried to me. The accompanying sauce was the star for me as the fried food can get heavy and taste a little one-note, so the sauce brings in new energy to each bite.

We ordered some food to pick up from here. We ordered spicy fried rice and different kinds of ramen. I had vegetable ramen and it was delicious! A great spot to get your ramen fix. There are so many options to pick from! I would highly recommend.

wow! this is a hidden gem that i was shown and i was not let down. my boyfriend and i came in for lunch and we knew exactly what we were here for. we got the nanchatte ramen and the curry katsu with egg. both were soooo good! that ramen healed my soul. service is good and the restaurant is clean. it's a very homey feel but that's when you know the food is gonna be good. i'll be craving this ramen -- will definitely be back!

Tried this place after hearing it so many times, but it was overrated and dissapointing. We ordered ten-shin ramen, curry ramen, and fried squid legs. Curry ramen has interesting taste, Ten-shin ramen has a very interesting flvor that im not sure how to describe. Fried squid legs was good. Too expensive for the portion, taste, and the type of service we received.

Very disappointed with my visit. Price is insane, hot & sour ramen don't taste hot and sour at all UNBELIEVABLE, the omelette rice took forever to serve and it doesn't taste like curry speechless.

Don't come here! You will wait for your food forever. You will wait for you first dish come out for 40 mins and after everyone finish their meal , you will still wait for the last dish to come out . Horrible experience.

We stumbled upon this spot for ramen and were pleasantly surprised! The portions are great. They give you plenty of broth, and the ramen itself is really tasty. We shared the ramen and some takoyaki (which were decent), and it was more than enough for the two of us. It's definitely tucked away in the middle of nowhere, so you really have to be looking for it to find it, but it's worth the trip if you're craving a good bowl!

It breaks my heart to write this review, since I loved this place since I was a kid, but it is true this restaurant has changed ownership and has taken a downturn for the worst. I came with a friend and this place scarred them LOL To get seated, it was relatively quick - no line no waitlist and the restaurant was relatively empty. Once we were seated, is when everything started to unfold. We were seated, but never tended to. Everything we wanted, we had to flag down a waitress to get - this included ordering water, food ordering, and getting the bill. Once we placed our food order, I am not joking, but it took almost 40minutes to come out... it took so long that I even witnessed a couple get up and walk out since the service was so bad. The place seems dysfunctional because even after the couple left and told the restaurant host, another waitress still came out to deliver their food about 10 minutes after they left. The wait time was an issue at multiple tables, and the table next to us even had to remind the waitress of something they ordered because it never came out. Not to mention the kitchen is playing loud music which is bleeding into the dining room! My friend and I were patient, but were ultimately disappointed on the food delivery. My friend ordered chicken curry rice and ,I kid you not, the curry was red and tasted like spaghetti sauce. I ordered the Pork Omelet Curry and it tasted good but was nowhere to par with how it used to taste nor how it was portioned before. We even asked the waitress why the 2 curry's were starkly different and she didn't know the answer, nor did she offer to bring out a side of a different curry. The experience got worse, believe it or not. When requesting the bill, the waitress brought the bill over and asked for cash or card. We responded by card, but shortly after she said the card machine just broke and that we would have to pay cash or Zelle. Never in my restaurant visitation tenure have I zelled a restaurant before... but there's always a first. The waitress brought out a phone number to zelle, and the account name was a person's name not a business name. A never-before-seen experience and I'm saddened to see this place take a downturn.

Foo Foo Tei is one of the few mom and pop hole-in-the-walls left around SGV. Sitting inside makes me feel like I'm in asia. They have a cozy no-frills interior with mostly 4-person seats. 7:30pm on a Saturday was packed wit people but the wait isnt too long. The staff was busy, but attentive. One thing that surprised me was they had so many different dishes (mainly ramen or curry); I need to go back to try the other flavors. I got the crab omelet which was tasty and brought out the crab flavor. The broiled squid was a good appetizer too!

I love this place! It's a must for me. It does get pretty crowded during the weekends but it's well-worth the wait! The parking lot is small since the dining area is small but it's honestly so worth it. I love the creamy ramen as it's super unique and the broth is rich. My dad one time ordered an extra large and it felt like it was double the ramen I ordered. Overall, this such a great ramen spot! I definitely would recommend the creamy ramen as I don't think I've seen anywhere else serve that.

The place is in an industrial area. So it looks suspicious but it's a local favorite. The broth is delicious and I really enjoyed it. Service was terrific and friendly. As this is a locals spot, there could be a wait according to the regulars we talked to.

Come early. There is always line in front of the door. Place is well lit, clean. The host is friendly and efficient. There are lots of varieties of Ramen and appetizers. The noodles is just right, the broth needs a bit mire umami in my opinion. But overall are great.

I came here once like 10 years ago. The waiter said the owner changed. Guess that's why many things changed. More pricy, less food. My pork chops curry is $18 and only 4 pieces. Food still good!

Ask the Community - Foo Foo Tei

When will they be open again?

They are open Wed-Sun from 11:30am-1pm, and 5:30pm-8pm (last call at 8:30pm). They are closed Monday and Tuesday.

    What are the vegan options?

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 8, 2023

There's no outside seating. I am actually here right now second in line waiting for the doors to open at 5:30!

What days are they closing for Christmas and New Year's? Based on my and others' experience, they are too busy to answer phone calls. I'm aware that they usually post updated hours outside the restaurant. Have they posted any for this year?

They have many different set hours, they open for lunch then close and reopen at 5:30 for dinner, so as far as holiday hours it would be best to call them and ask what are there hours are for your specific day and time

Are they still open? I called multiple times with no response?

Yes, the restaurant is still in operation. Keep in mind that although they have two different closing times, they actually end their waiting list earlier than their business hours, depending on how busy they are that day. For example, today I saw… Read more

Is the Nanchatte #17 soup pork based? I've had it before but I've just read Nanchatte translates to "just kidding" and there's different answers as to what base it is.

Yeah, it's a creamy pork base. One of the most popular option!

Does the ramen noodle itself have any eggs in them? My daughter has an egg allergy and I would like to know beforehand.

Depends on the type of ramen you get. You can always just ask for them to not put any in the ramen.

Are they closed on Tuesdays too?

They are closed Monday and Tuesday and when they are open the hours are shorter LUNCH 1130AM TO 1PM AND DINNER 530PM TO 8PM

Whats the phone number? i tried to call and was told to enter a remote access pin.?

The phone number is the one listed on their Yelp page, but they don't answer and rarely take phone orders anymore. When I went they said it's too busy to take phone orders

Are they open for dine in eating?

    Yes they are

Do they have gluten free (noodle)option for ramen?

    No. This is traditional ramen.

Do they still open Sunday? Yelp shows it is temporary closed and called them like few times but no answer.

    Currently open Sundays.

Is Foo Foo Tei still closed? I wasn't able to call?

I just called today and they are open!

Does anybody know what happened ? It was closed yesterday

Hi. Since curfew on Sunday last week, we decided to close for a while. We are repairing the parking lot while we close only the daytime. We will open as soon as we have enough chickens. Please hold and bare with us.… Read more

I have liked everything I've ordered but is there a low sodium option? Tying to cut down on my sodium so is there any ramen with a low sodium option?

Unfortunately, most ramen is not low sodium friendly. I would suggest to look into their vegetarian or mushroom base broth. Or ask them if the clear noodle soup is lower in sodium content. Because most ramen broth is made from pork it's hard to get… Read more

What kind of dressing do they use for their salad?

It's a home made tasting fine grated carrot and daikon radish dressing in a sweet & tart rice wine vinegar.

    Are they open?

    Yes

What is the spiciest I can get?

They don't have levels of spicy there, but I usually ask for it extra spicy and it's fairly spicy. If that's not enough for you they do have the chili powder and chili oil on the table or you can ask for more of the chili paste 😊

Do they have a vegetarian broth for their veggie ramen?

They have a vegetarian/mushroom broth, you will have to request it when you order

Is this place still open? I just went and it was dark and no one there or any cars

Yes they're still open they just have selective business hours

The food is still good, but we've noticed the price go up by $2 or so on each dish we ordered since the last time we were here. This is fine and we understand the cost of everything is rising, but the amount of food we got was also less than before. The amount of rice in the small portion of fried rice has gone down, the amount of meat and soup in the ramen and the size of the shrimp has also shrinked. Since the price of everything on the menu has gone up, we would hope for the standards to stay the same. Now that same small fried rice is $7, so these days I usually just stick with the ramen. The interior has barely changed over the years, and the restaurant has stayed in the same location the entire time. It's funny because this is a ramen restaurant, but the coffee is surprisingly good and perfectly matches my taste. One of the reasons I enjoy coming here so much is the atmosphere. You can often hear the staff speaking Japanese, which really adds to the authentic vibe and makes it feel like you're eating at a small ramen shop in Japan. Regular ramen contains 2 pieces of chashu, red ginger, and green onion (that I omitted) and a sprinkle of sesame seed.
