I am currently in the Occupational Therapy Program at the "old" campus (Telegraph & 30th St)! We…read morewill be moving to 12th St in Downtown Oakland in 2026. Coming to Samuel Merritt was one of the best decisions of my life. There a number of factors of why I chose SMU and why I love it more everyday. First: Why did I choose SMU? - Prior to starting at SMU, I attended SMU's immersion day, countless zoom info sessions, school tours, and meet n greets. When meeting the students and faculty they really made me feel welcomed and supported. I felt like I belonged at SMU and that I wasn't just another person joining a program. I liked watching the current students interact with the faculty. Everyone knew each other's names and talked like old friends. This made me feel excited and comforted when thinking about which university I wanted to choose - Campus is located a short drive away from my family home yet is also far enough away to experience personal growth. The location was ideal for me because I wanted to stay in the bay to be with my friends and family. - Campus is safe. There are many people walking around every day and I haven't heard about any crime on campus. Students, Healthcare workers (Alta Bates), patients, faculty, and security guards are always around. SMU has shuttles to take students to Bart and there is a guarded parking garage. Each building has security and sometimes Oakland police are on campus patroling. - No GRE - Great reputation and alumni I heard that many alumni end up in prestigious hospitals like Stanford Hospital - Many of my old high school classmates came to SMU for various programs and they enjoyed it Second: Why do I love SMU more everyday? - My cohort is amazing!! I truly love all my classmates. We have great respect for each other and we all get along. Outside our individual friend groups within our cohort, we still want to see each other win. Every day we laugh, chat, connect, and grow together. I really love that we all think of each other. Like how we celebrate each others birthdays by signing birthday cards and hanging out after class. - There are many fun events on campus!! We've had multiple fun events throughout the year. Note that each SMU campus have different events. At Oakland campus, so far, I've experienced.. * Free Taco Day * Free Yoga * Free School Supplies * Free Coffee/Tea * Free Gelato * Free Fenton's Ice cream * Free Pantry * Etc... TBD - SMU OT Staff are very supportive and have great personality! Myself and the cohort love the faculty! They bring great energy and want to see us win! Overall, I feel like the program is going by fast because we're having so much fun. Every day is a new experience and I look forward to the rest of my program.

"Happy Juneteenth 2024" to all students and faculty/ staff or employees!…read moreOh it's a bummer the adult public swimming day passes are no longer active or current. Instead Horacio at best reported the place was only open to new ASUC Cal employees, faculty, staff and part staff to use the swimming pool. I appreciate public adult swimming that is currently open and active in Strawberry Canyon near the Greek theatre. I gathered on the third floor and large table conference room office to create access to WI-FI and go online a lot faster. I had a good reason talking to the swimming pool attendant whom shared more information about new CAL jobs. When I first worked for ASUC CAL Berkeley particularly packaging and pricing alumni wear at the where house shipments and for the campus textbook center ASUC CAL Berkeley. It's a big deal today's holiday for Juneteenth with everything going on in the country now and black history. It's good to consider on a day like unto today and the joy and courage with others on this Federal Holiday commemorating Slaves in the Civil War. Horacio and I honored those to be remembered and he didn't fail to communicate the new job opportunity in the women's locker rooms and swimming. I really appreciate that he mentioned it. It's really important that people feel safe. It just posted for a women's custodial position because they are short staffed. And he was asking me to give it a chance! It is very important to find common ground in this democracy. Indeed an open position was welcomed to me. The faculty, staff, and students believed it was constructive to have a new job working for ASUC CAL Berkeley. The staff and students were willing to contribute similarly when I walked into the building with my bicycle particularly. So socializing with modesty meant everything to me. Tosh LUPOI , my beloved brother was a former student and scholarship athlete that graduated from CAL and went onto coaching NFL nationally recognized Football for Alabama; Crimson Tide, Washington Huskies football team, The Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville, Jaguars football and currently coaches for The Oregon Ducks U of O in Eugene, OR. My dad coached football too. Both football coaches! In the 1980's our family owned a sports medicine business for serious injuries to Olympic athletes and professional race car drivers, too! I think I became mute around others thinking and anticipating that I would re-apply to CAL and by the way logged into Access for WI-FI. Keeping my iPhone in my pocket on the third floor with my road bicycle. My public perception is that I want to feel comfortable as a person and swimmer. Paying tribute to Juneteenth and the principles of freedom and light triumphing over darkness. Celebrating our history and forgetting TRUMP and racist conspiracies about Barack Obama. These intentions in contrast to pilgrims going after the Indians. The debate was over powered with my new confidence for new leading job opportunities. Horacio gave me pricing costs moments after I met him with my road bicycle and verified swimming costs and compliance with pool policies that are offered to employees only or faculty members. Most swimmers are articulate and totally bright or committed! Also thanking Abraham Lincoln for freeing the slaves in the south. Swimming was admissible years ago for the public adult swims. We openly talked about the status with this custodial care position which would be a new responsibility and duty by cleaning and maintenance of women's locker rooms. All my questions were resolved with the good looking guy and man in charge. Thanks so much directly for serving me with constructive support. Encouragement to reestablish contact and pursue a career long term visible right now to protect my future. Opening the door to strength not weakness to democracy that cannot be found anywhere else but with ASUC CAL careers. Horacio suggested swimmers are something strategic to come by seeking ASUC CAL employment. You name it! I really think it's a great idea too! This addressed the common issue with confidence described often by swimmers as a key priority. There is a president here with exercise as planned when relations are better. Kind regards, Sincerely, Sierradawn LUPOI

This school, which parents refer to as LEMS has been a wonderful school for our daughter. There are…read moremany excellent Montessori schools in the area. In terms of the space, quality of equipment, cleanliness, outdoor area, LEMS has certainly met our expectations. We are incredibly grateful to find this school (a recommendation from a wonderful co-worker) and our daughter has been here for over 2 years. Where LEMS really shines is the teachers, the children and the parents. 1. Teachers: Miss Jennifer is the head teacher for the older children (we call them poppies). As parents of a bi-racial daughter, we face some peculiar life challenges in addition to the normal things as our little bud grows into a beautiful flower. Miss Jennifer is thoughtful, kind, caring and an excellent listener. And she acts, by offering adjustments to the curriculum to help nurture all the kids in the way that fosters their development. We love that she cares so much about the role of a teacher and it is obvious in the way the children love her. The school is incomplete without the other loving teachers, Miss Flor and the teachers for the little ones (the buttercups): Miss Paola, Miss Puja and Miss Julia who complete the Montessori experience. 2. Children: We have toured many schools before and during our time at LEMS and while there are great schools out there, we always found ourselves home at this school. This was compounded by the diversity of the children and there being many bi-racial children at the school. We wanted to be in such a community and we have come to love every single child at this school. We would gladly babysit any child at this school. Miss Jennifer and Miss Paola fosters children to go deeper into their interests and creativity. There is a big emphasis on kindness, responsibility and self-reflection. As a result our daughter (as other children) have grown so much during their time at Little Elephant. 3. Parents: The parents of the school actually enjoy spending time with each other both during the school planned events as well as outside of the school as we've had to during the pandemic. The parents were our bubble and we wouldn't have made it through these difficult times without the support of this community. The owner of the school Natanya has been involved in the business for a long time and she was able to weather the really difficult COVID transition. The school would not have survived if not for the quality of the teachers and the community of parents who stood behind to support it. Hard times create strength and resilience for the children and the adults. Natanya can sometimes be a bit slow to communicate but we've found that a phone call is the best way to reach her (vs. email). Overall, we would strongly recommend this school to any parent, and overall we looked for a school to provide a safe, nurturing and kind environment for our daughter. LEMS has provided us that and more.

We toured A LOT of schools before settling on Little Elephant. First, we saw plenty of larger…read moreschools and its smaller more intimate size was appealing to us. The space shows very well with two bright well laid out classrooms, nice outdoor space and lots of pets! Most importantly, we found the teaching staff to be warm and generally very experienced with reasonable tenure at the school. Our three children all had a positive experience and have fond memories of their time there. We spent almost a decade there (including through COVID) and appreciated the staff and parent community.

So I was taking the part-time Data Analytics boot camp hosted by Trilogy Education for the past 6…read moremonths AND...I just graduated from it!! Yay!! Go me!! Hehe ANYWAYS, when I started this boot camp I thought maybe I'll learn and retain ALL the information. Though, I knew it would be very difficult because I came into this with NO CODING EXPERIENCE! This class is also fully virtual and I was probably the youngest one in the cohort since the majority of them looked like they were in their mid 30s-50s. NOTE: The instructor reminded us multiple times to expect many headaches, tears, frustrations, and the feeling of giving up and YES, I and many others in the cohort felt it all (~1/4 of the cohort dropped). Ok, so since this course is held fully virtually, that was something I was worried about. I actually ended up barely noticing it was an online class since it was LIVE and very INTERACTIVE where the instructor teaches and then everyone gets broken up into groups for classwork, and then we all come back together to discuss. Since I chose the part-time option, that meant there would be classes two days per week where each class was 2 hour sessions. Class was enjoyable and I ACTUALLY had fun and looked forward to attending class! We also had 5 TAs who held their own office hours for two hours on their chosen day (Friday-Sunday) or if you attend class 30 minutes early, they hold office hours there too. I attended office hours at least once a week and the TAs were very helpful. The instructor seemed to know his stuff when teaching during class, BUT sometimes he didn't know the answer to the questions we asked him. Not going to blame him though! This course is taught VERY FAST since it IS a boot camp. It's 24 weeks long, so each week is a new topic or language. Something which helped me complete all my weekly assignments was by starting the homework LITERALLY right after the Wednesday classes (my class sessions were Mondays and Wednesdays)! It's VERY important to form a study group in the beginning of the course because having a group helped me understand the material better (my study group was a group of 7 girls who met up weekly on Thursdays through Zoom). A perk from this boot camp is you can sign up for a tutor. I definitely knew I wanted a tutor! I mean...I might as well get all the help I can get and use all the resources and people available since this course ain't cheap! I don't know what I would have done without my tutor's help; she explained things well and sent me some resources. I also enjoyed the AskBCS service they have which is available throughout the majority of the day, BUT sometimes the person I got wasn't as helpful as others (several people in my cohort agreed with me on this). My class had about 44 students (the ones that didn't drop) and it was mixed with people of different education and career levels. For example, there were some people with a PhD, a Masters degree, and people with only a Bachelors degree. There were also people who already work in the industry as Senior positions. Knowing all of this was a little intimidating for me, but hey, it's great for networking! Oh and speaking of networking, this course comes with a "Career Services" section to help you become "employer competitive," but most of that doesn't start until the last month of the course. The career services was pretty much non-existent throughout the course and I wish I had more time with them. Would I recommend? I feel like I would recommend this boot camp to people who want a career change, BUT I would NOT recommend it to people who ONLY want to learn more of a specific language. The instructor only spent one week on most topics. I personally think one week is only enough to get the basics of a programming language. Even the instructor said we would have to review everything all over again AFTER the course! IF you do decide to take this bootcamp, then I would HIGHLY recommend having 2 or more monitors since that would make it less frustrating during the live online classes. I only had 1 monitor and got overwhelmed when the instructor was teaching too fast or when he was jumping from screen to screen, while others had 2-5 monitors.

I enrolled to a class for my marketing course and paid $1000 to see a teacher showing slides made…read morefrom ai with just text. No image, no examples, nothing. The teacher barely explained a subject and gave a graded exercises. Of course everyone was confused and barely understood anything of the exercises. I emailed the school and wanted to cancel or be transferred to a different class and all they said is I could only drop off and get a refund if was on the first class. If that passes you lose all the money. I was on my second class. The thing is they hired a professional unprepared to teach and I have to pay for it? Is so unfair. I m very disappointed.
