I appreciate his responsiveness and professionalism and that he is very neat and organized, providing high-quality work every time.! Equally important is that he is dependable and shows up when he promises. He has done everything from installing recessed lighting throughout my entire house (no easy task with extremely high, slanted, cathedral ceilings) and garage, installing plumbing fixtures and lighting fixtures, and everything in between--even hanging my artwork. Most recently a refrigerator on the top floor was hooked up improperly, causing water to slowly leak in between the wall and down to my second floor below. It suffered a good deal of water intrusion damage to two door frames, surrounding walls, and ceiling. He did an excellent job repairing/replacing the door frames and fixing the rest of the damage. I hired Rising Starr Construction to remove and replace exterior building material which had been…read moreaffected by wood destroying pests & organisms - mainly dry rot & fungus - as identified in Home and Pest Inspection Reports. Most of the work required replacing approximately 50 ft x 3 ft of T1-11 siding along several exterior walls and replacing trim boards at various locations. Josh Kesecker is the Owner, and Antonio Martinez is Lead Carpenter and primary onsite worker. After reaching out to Josh, he responded quickly to setup a time to meet at my house and review the scope of work. He was quick to respond with his very clear itemized quote, and he scheduled work immediately. His price was fair considering the work involved and level of quality he and Antonio provided. Josh is a third-generation contractor with prior experience as an Inspector, so he knows how to address corrective issues. He is soft-spoken and calm, very straightforward, experienced, and friendly. Antonio was a gem - a very friendly, skilled professional that works very hard and takes pride in doing work correctly. For example, the trim at a window had been identified in the reports as having fungal damage. When Antonio removed the trim, he found that the damage extended to a narrow 2" and 12" section of siding under the trim on the side of one of the windows, and above the garage personal-door. He proceeded to dig out and replace this siding before replacing the trim. Another contractor would not have included this level of quality control and workmanship and would have simply replaced the trim and left the damage underneath. These guys were very easy to work with, and came through, providing outstanding quality work. I highly recommend them.

We had an…read more'extra room' behind the garage that was below-grade, had drainage issues, had terrible flooring, and the existing French doors and interior walls appeared to have water damage. We called and the owner Josh came out to investigate and assess what we needed to have done - within a day or two he sent a comprehensive and competitive bid. After we agreed to the work Josh returned with his team and within a several days created a French drain system around the extra room to mitigate moisture intrusion, installed a new sliding glass door, installed new flooring / baseboard, resolved some moisture intrusion / fixed and painted dry wall inside the room, and built an incredible post and pier foundation for our new shed we were having delivered. All of the work was done efficiently and with masterful craftsmanship; Josh and his crew were always nice and even cleaned up the work area at the end of each work day! We just sold the home and definitely made our money back and more! Can't recommend Rising Starr Construction enough... Josh and his crew are exceptional and truly the best at what they do.

I have been meaning to write this review for several weeks now, but it has been difficult to try to…read morerelive the trauma brought upon by my previous contractor.  In short, my previous contractor screwed us.  He did not get the permits or the inspections that he said he did.  He basically took our money, abandoned our project, and escaped to Mexico.  In short, we had a house that was in terrible condition and deemed unlivable by San Francisco.  My husband and I were screwed financial and emotionally.  It was an extremely hard time and the pain still lingers but it is finally fading away, thanks to Steve.   Steve and Bartkus Remodel stepped into a very challenging situation, one that very few contractors wanted to touch.  We had a house that was poorly "remodeled", needed permits, had to be remedied, and all while my husband and I were financially strapped.  Steve went into immediate action and took the charge in navigating San Francisco's Building Department's requirements in our unique situation.  San Francisco has very strict building codes.  I've learned from this process; you need someone who VERY knowledgeable and determined to figure out proper solutions.   Steve and his crew expertly worked on many of items in our home.  He worked closely with our structural engineer to bring our housing structure up to code (we went from a closed to open concept and also wanted to legalized our ground floor level, so this was major).  The structural work included adding and fixing various structural posts, adding structural plywood, and performing concrete testing.  Fireproofing was also added, along with sheetrock and an extensive paint job.  Him and his crew remodeled our bathrooms which also includes tiling and creating necessary soffits.  In the interest of wanting to keep this review relatively short, these are just a few things Steve helped us with.   I was most impressed with Steve's communication.  He was extremely easy to reach, always getting back to us within a day and had no problems taking phones calls on the weekends.  Any issues we had he always corrected immediately.  Not everything goes perfectly, but Steve was receptive to all feedback and would try his best to make sure it is perfection.    Although Steve came as a recommendation to us, Steve treated my family like his family.  He knew of our dire financial situation, but was only concerned with getting us into our home.  He happily worked with us regarding compensation.  I and my husband will be forever grateful to Steve and Bartkus Remodel.  They turned my nightmare into my pride and joy.   If you would like more information about Steve and Bartkus remodel, I am happy to answer any further questions.  Please feel free to send me a message.
