I have been trying to book a taxi through Fonacab to take me to hospital tomorrow. I have used no other company since 2009 and have found them excellent. However, when I phoned today to book the taxi I was told that I was out of their area. I queried this, was told to hold, waited for quite a while and was then cut off. I phoned back, same person answered, did not speak with me then disconnected the call. Very rude people and no help to me as I am disabled. Not recommended. read more

'90 and six threes' is there tag line and I find I always remember it when I'm steaming on a Saturday night out in Belfast. I have decided recently to stick to only one taxi company having had a few bad experiences with other companies. You cannot flag down a Fona Cab in the street which although annoying at three am it is also a really good thing as it means all the cabs are licensed and someone knows where they are at all times - this is not the case with all the taxi firms in Belfast. I also like this firm as the drivers chat in a nice way to you and make an effort to see if you are comfortable with them, nothing worse than sitting in a taxi on a long journey with someone who is mute or speaks with one word answers. The prices are decent, the cabs are clean and they are reliable with time and call backs. I wouldn't use anyone else in Belfast now. read more

Fonacab is my favourite of the two big taxi firms in Belfast. They're easily the best choice if you're going out of your own area, since local taxi firms try not to stray too far, and Fonacab are more than happy to drive you anywhere. They're more expensive than a smaller firm will be, but not by too much, and with all cars having satnav, you don't even have to direct the drivers everywhere, so you can just drift off into space, or have a chat with the driver. They've also recently introduced a discount card. I've only just ordered one, so I haven't had a chance to try it out, but anything that saves me money is A Very Good Thing. read more

My driver was extremely rude to me because I need to pay by card. He left the meter running while he reversed around outside my house holding the card machine out the window and swearing. I offered to go into my house to get cash and he shouted "no". I said I shouldn't have to pay the extra money for the meter being left on and he gave me more abuse, I had to pay it to get away from him. I'm on vacation in Belfast. My plan was to take Uber, since it's supposedly available. However, Uber service has been inconsistent at best - there aren't drivers available when I need them. Fona Cab to the rescue! Every time I've needed a taxi, I've been able to order one very easily straight from the Fona Cab app. I really like that the app can find my location, since I'm not from around here I don't always know where I am. A car has always been able to get to me in just a minute or two, and every driver has been pleasant and safe. I was lost when it started to rain this evening, and Google Maps said I was still a 30 minute walk from my airbnb. I ordered a cab, and I was back in no time. As a student on numerous nights out, I have experienced too many taxi journeys than I can care to remember, or even try if i could! But i can say that without doubt Fona Cab are a highly professional and effective taxi firm.They have drivers located all around the city so you are never more than two minutes away from an impromptu pickup The depot always gives you an estimated pick up time and clarifies where they want to pick you up, and they will also ring you if there are any delays or if they cannot find you( whether that is because they cant find you, or if you have wandered away from an arranged pick up point due to an AWOL amigo....) For me the best thing about the firm is that the cars are of a great quality and so are the drivers. For females I especially know that safety on the way home is a concern with the smaller firms, and this is something you don't need to worry about with Fonacab. The drivers all use satnav too and are also receptive to any shortcuts you provide, so you are not going to get robbed on price! read more

Fona Cabs are one of two large taxi companies that cover all of Belfast. Most smaller firms will just cover their local area and will react like you've just kidnapped their families and threw them down a well if you ask them to go any further. The good thing about Fona Cab is that they are happy to take you anywhere, from anywhere. From many a random conversation with their drivers, I've learnt that they use a completely different system to the smaller firms. They use a GPS tracking system which sends the closest driver in your locality straight to your door. They do cost a little bit more than the usual taxi companies but at least with these guys you are guaranteed to be picked up and not given a spool trying to persuade you to cancel your taxi because they don't want breach the local taxi firms 4 square mile mental barrier! read more

Fona Cab will never really let you down, they are a genuine bonified reliable taxi company. I know usually the word reliable and taxi are never said in the same breath but I can not say a bad word about Fona Cab. When I was doing my work experience in Belfast when I was around 15 years old the company I was working with kindly laid on a taxi for me to get home in case I got kidnapped and they felt responsible in some way. That's a wee joke, they just wanted to make sure I got home okay or else they would have had to face the wrath of my school. Anyway they had a contract with Foan Cab and they organised the same driver to take me home every day. This was a great service as I felt comfortable in his company and we even had a bit of banter. Going for work experience can often be traumatic especially if you do not know your way round Belfast very well. But the taxi driver from Fona Cab was excellent even pointing out places I could get lunch. After this pleasant experience, now when I am in Belfast I would look no further than Fona Cab. read more

I've always found Fonacab to be very helpful, polite and reliable. When I first moved to Belfast I used them to go everywhere cause I didn't have a bloody clue where anything was. As soon as you ring they're outside the door, which is great as there's nothing worse than waiting and fretting about being late. The taxi drivers in this company are really friendly and when I was using their services for viewing potential houses in Belfast they were always keen to tell me what places were suitable and what areas to stay away from. The callback service they provide is excellent too and I have heard that they are introducing a discount card which sounds like a great idea. Don't have a bad word to say about them. read more

Used them for the first time last night, and they where quick, car was clean, driver was friendly and although they slightly more expensive than my local companies they didn't let down in service. I'be never had a problem with fonacabs. They have taxis everywhere, are very safe and reliable, and are reasonably priced.

I do find that I end up sticking with one taxi provider when the service is of a high standard, and I've been using Fona Cab since moving to city six or so years ago. Fona Cab is one of the largest (I think it's only second in size to Valu Cabs) taxi firms in the city and operates a huge fleet of mini cabs. The advantage I find is they are exceptionally punctual and due to the huge fleet they have on the roads you generally won't have to spend much time waiting around. They also do a callback service (which from time to time is offline) which alerts you by phone to let you know that your chariot has arrived. The staff are always friendly, I would say that it was a little odd when one of the drivers tried to make small talk about a funeral I was going to.... there are certain things not inherently designed for 'taxi banter' read more

I've been using Fonacab for years, however recently the company has failed to be reliable. I called one hour before travel time and asked if they could be sure to get me to a bus departure on time. I was assured there would be no problem. We were left standing with suitcases on the roadway and missed the connection. Not an isolated incident. I missed several hospital appointments in the past year due to their failure to show up despite the call being made hours in advance. It's buying up other companies and with that comes disdain from the paying customer. read more

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THE TREATMENT FROM THEIR DRIVERS! We're Americans here in Belfast for a bit and got picked up from a driver yesterday. My husband had a malt drink in his hand (non-alcoholic) and the driver said nothing about us not being able to have a drink in the car. Well the drink accidentally got spilled on the driver's center console and a little got on his shirt. He proceeded to flip out on us, screaming and cursing at us. As any customer would from being screamed at, we asked him to please stop the car and let us out. We would have rather walked than to be scolded the entire way home over an accident. He refused to stop and continued driving to our destination while swerving all over the road because he was too busy flipping out to be able to drive safely. We continuously asked him to stop and let us out and he just wouldn't. Feeling as if we were being held hostage, a yelling match ensued between the driver and my husband. The driver then decided to call the police and lie and say that my husband THREW a drink at him and then threatened him. We were the victims in this situation and this driver decided to flip the story and make himself look like the victim. The company is now saying there is nothing they can do because the police were involved (who did nothing by the way, because it was his word against ours). So because this man decided to be spiteful and spin the truth, nothing will be done. We were made to pay £75 for the spillage (which in any other case we wouldn't have minded paying for our accident) but with the way he scolded us and basically held us hostage, I would say that we were even. I've never in my life as a paying customer, been treated this way and I am appalled that nothing is being done to this aggressive, disrespectful liar. Shame on Fonacab. read more

Having lived in Belfast all my life, there are several long-standing taxi firms that operate from the city centre and receive most of the business from the bars, restaurants, nightclubs and theatres. All the experiences I've had of being a FonaCab customer have been positive ones, and I can't fault thier service. They always give you an arrival time for your taxi, (if you've asked for one as soon as possible), and when you book it for a certain time, it is always prompt - I've never had to call them to check where my taxi is, like I have done many times with some other firms. The drivers are always friendly and don't try to take a longer route to get more money out of you - they are straight and down to earth. I would recommend them for anyone. read more

Horrible experience with fona cab. We were depending on them to collect me and my two 16 year old friends from a concert at 10:30 to get a train but they were so late that we had to try and run all the way from the SSE arena to Belfast central in the dark... Unsurprisingly we missed our train and were stranded in Belfast for two hours. When we ordered this taxi we expected to be collected right on time and not at the leisure of the driver!
