Last night we ordered a taxi from The Antrim Road and it turned up at 6:30 on the dot. The taxi cost £4.50 to the SSE Arena which is excellent value. I don't think I've ver paid over £5 for a taxi from Five Star. Even at peak times they seem to be able to provide a taxi. The thing that sets them apart from other firms are the drivers. Every single time we have used Five Star the drivers have had banter with us. You definitely won't get a quiet journey with these guys. Need to get somewhere in Belfast, give Five Star a ring - they won't let you down.

They never fail to be on time or complain when they have to go out of the local area, which a lot do. They also are one of the cheapest firms I have used. This is because they don't use a meter system. They have a set cost for a mile so the price isn't going up when your stuck at lights or in a traffic jam. The drivers are always great craic and will chat away the whole journey, which takes away the awkwardness that sometimes occurs in taxis.

Quite simply the best of the best!…read more Normally I'd feel quite uncomfortable in taxis (as a young female travelling alone ... we've all heard the stories) but for the past while Abbey Taxi have been using their brilliant text services to let you know the car has been dispatched to your address, that they're outside to pick you up and also what the make / colour and reg plate of the car is. It is just so helpful and REASSURING. It's handy enough the text service as it means there's less chance you miss your cab, but as I mentioned, if I feel uneasy all I have to do is let someone know how I'm getting home and voila I'm pretty safe as far as the taxi's concerned. I've had issues with taxi drivers before from other companies, but every single driver I've ever been picked up from Abbey will either banter away with you if you're in the mood or know quite rightly when you're not in the mood for chat. The company recently merged with Phone-A-Taxi so they've got many more drivers for your convenience. They've also recently moved to meters, I moaned about this for a while, until I realised that 9/10s of the time my fare has ended up at least a few quid cheaper. (This tip nearly always goes back to lucky taxi man!) Also, I've seen adverts 'Pay your taxi by credit card' which is just another great inventions! (I've haven't used this service yet, when I do I'll re-review) and I've just been on their new look website where soon you'll be able to book taxis online, handy for those 'phone phobics' among us (You know who you are!) In conclusion, all this makes me feel Abbey Taxi are without a doubt the number one cab company in this area. They are so up and coming, never fail to impress! Just hope they keep it up.

What I really like about these taxis is that they don't have a meter, and therefore charge a little bit less than the other main taxi companies in the city. One such example of this is the journey from my house to the city centre. Abbey charges me almost £2 less than other taxi companies. Another great thing that they do is send you a text when you car is being dispatch, and upon its arrival they send you a text of the license plate number and the make, model and colour of the car. This is incredibly useful when waiting outside a club dying to find your taxi to take you home. It makes it so much easier

However, all was not lost as she received a phone call from FonaCAB to let her know said bags where at a local office and giving her a code to use so she could pick them up. Cue great rejoicing and celebration! Trusty FonaCAB to the rescue! All in all, without a doubt, FonaCAB are THE best taxi company in Belfast. I just wouldn't use anyone else.

It's in a perfect place to pick up all the drunks, staggering from the Empire and Lavery's which makes it incredibly busy in the closing time hours of the night. There also no real order to which taxi you get so your often scrambling with a bunch of other drunkards over to the driver whenever one pulls over. It can get a little hectic and it does get very annoying, so maybe it's to leave the pub a little early or order one over the phone from where your drinking. You'll wait a little longer, but you won't be vying for a cab with a milly tanked up on WKD ready for a battle.

As far as taxi service's go, you can't ask for better service in terms of reliability and cost. Now, the price of taxi's vary greatly in Belfast. You can travel the same distance but begin at opposite ends of the city and the cost will be vastly different. North Belfast has always been one of the cheaper cheaper parts of the city in terms of hiring taxi's and Orchard offer competitive rates that I could never complain about. Orchard also don't make use of a meter system, and rely on set prices depending on the amount of miles traveled. This adds to the low cost of the fares and ensures your not paying (literally) for an unexpected traffic jam! The drivers are always chatty and just like every other taxi driver around the globe will have a story that he'll just need to tell you. Always good times to hear. Then you remember that you have forgotten to book one..... As anyone on a night out in Belfast will know, taxis at this time are like gold dust. It is close to impossible to get one. It was a similar night to this, we had been out in Irene and Nans and were growing increasingly desperate to get a taxi. All our local taxis from our hometown would not come up as we had not paid a deposit, and all the main Belfast ones were booked up. We didn't know any other numbers, so we started calling numbers from taxis we saw driving past, and Orchard Taxis was one of them - the lady on the phone was so friendly and promised that the taxi would be with us in 15 minutes - it was with us in 10! The driver was brilliant craic on the drive home, and had us all home within the hour. It only came to £16 despite the fact that there were two drop offs on the way. Booking on the phone was never an issue, but getting the taxi sometimes was.Waiting times varied from a few minutes to about 20 minutes, which really cheesed me off when I was a 16 year old who wanted to get back to school in time for P.E or lunch!
