You can see the Falls and hike the upper areas for free. Friendly staff, small nature, center, restrooms, vending. Ample free parking. The fall cells are pretty cool. It was fairly busy so there were a lot of people around. If you walk to the other side of the highway and hike up there, there are far fewer people.

It felt like we had the trails to ourselves. Still lots of snow on the trails, and the river and waterfalls were covered in snow and ice that added to its beauty. We had a great time exploring for two hours before heading home. There is a decent sized parking lot (though I'm told it gets packed in warmer months). The visitors center is clean, informative, spacious, with a neat gift shop to satisfy all of your outdoorsy heart's desires. The best part: visitors center, parking, trail access: it's all free!

Bathrooms were clean but the women's was often busy. Not much else you can expect during peak camping season however. Very nice and close access to the beach as well as a nearby candy store. This place is great if you're looking for a nice place in the two harbors/Duluth area, but not looking to raise wild shenanigans. The owner seems to strictly enforce the 10:00 quiet rule time, which was fine with us.

This has been on my bucket list for ages, and I finally did it this fall! And trust me: it's worth…read moreit. Instead of going to or into the lighthouse itself, I used my state park pass to go into the state park and get a view of it. Because my motto is: you want a picture of the famous thing, not in the famous thing! This goes for the Eiffel Tower and pretty much any famous landmark. After parking in a spacious parking lot practically empty and walking a short distance, I got to the beach where there was an awesome view of the lighthouse. I walked a bit further to get closer, and every view was breathtaking! A must see when visiting the North Shore.
