sitting on the bed waiting for surgery

I had to come here to bring my son for a tonsillectomy. From the moment we checked in until we went home, the staff there treated us absolutely amazing. The nurses were so wonderful with my little guy. You could tell they really love their job, by their mannerisms and the way they dealt with my son. They were so caring and considerate and understanding. The gentle ways they spoke to him and made him feel at ease when he had to leave to go back for his surgery, and when he came out of surgery. Absolute remarkable. If I ever had to have a procedure, I would be sure it was done here at this facility!

Nice flat screen...."FROZEN" playing....I feel right at home!

My Tomophobia ( anxiety), was off the charts and through the roof. They assured me everything would be great...and it was. My procedure was done and I was home 1:00pm. Snuggling in my bed the best I could. Yes of course, I am sore, but my nurse reassured me of everything to do. The Anesthesiologist, ( Sean) is very thorough and precise, in delivering the risks and safety measures. I truly cannot say enough of the Nurses and Dr.Loge!!!! Everyone-- the receptionist, to all the staff in OR and the floor are Remarkable!! You're in safe hands if you come to this Kaiser in Beautiful, Folsom, CA.

The second I started showing symptoms, I went to urgent care so I could get antibiotics before it got worse. They refused to give me antibiotics because they "can't justify it". I left and got significantly worse that evening. Fever to 104 and Tylenol/ibuprofen barely brought it down to 101. Im an RN so I don't just seek antibiotics for nothing. I am aware of what does and doesn't require antibiotics. The next morning, my husband took me back to urgent care stating I needed antibiotics, as he got very sick (he is healthy) with bacterial pneumonia and I am exhibiting the exact symptoms and he has never seen me this sick. Again, "I can't justify it"... I had 5 days of fevers ranging from 102-104 without it breaking. I finally called my PCP on day 5 because I knew I wouldn't get help here. He was very upset that urgent care knew I was severely immunocompromised and knew my husband had confirmed bacterial pneumonia (yes, we showed the results) and refused to treat me. Long story short, I DID have bacterial pneumonia and did not show any progress until after I started antibiotics. I was very close to requiring an ER visit but I am stubborn. As a nurse, I was appalled at the lack of knowledge with the providers treating immunocompromised patients.

On a repeat visit, she slapped her knee with pride and said she thought she had found the diagnosis. It was awful. Disfiguring, treatable but not curable. I was stunned. At home I found a website with a presentation on the disease complete with photos. I tried to tell her I didn't look like those photos. She had prescribed a medication, after that totally ghosted me. I messaged her through the portal to change the medication from cream to ointment but got no response. Eventually I showed up at her office and was told she wasn't in and they didn't know when she would be back. I asked if another doctor there would make the minor change to the prescription and was declined. I was completely on my own. Since the diagnosis she handed me was gynecological, I procured my own referral to a gynecologist who thankfully tested and ruled out Dr Duncan's diagnosis. I'm still in disbelief that she saddled me with such an awful diagnosis then turned her back on me. I took it as cowardice. She came up with something she couldn't handle and instead of suggesting a specialist, she dropped me without explanation. I felt betrayed.

I mean they went through the normal procedures for patients who have chest pain, but to see how quickly they got her issue resolved was very impressive to me. Yes we stayed there from 6pm to about 10pm, but that tells me that they were very thorough. From the time we got there until the time we left they were very attentive to her. They took blood a couple of times and also did EKG's a couple of times as well. Being someone who just moved to the Folsom area, we weren't 100% sure on who to go with. They advised to have my wife follow up with her PCP due to they didnt find any Heart Attack symptoms. So let me start off by saying Thank you Mercy Hospital. Your Staff, your attentiveness to my wife didnt go unnoticed and it was very appreciated how well you cared for her. If we need any further Health Care, we will be back.

Upon arrival they checked me in and immediately called me to the billing staff to get my insurance information by the way I pay for my Insurance I'm not a leach on society like all the rest of the tweakers and the morbidly obese in the waiting room. After an hour, they did a blood test to check for cardiac enzymes after two hours. They did a chest x-ray. After three hours They did a CT with contrast. Add about five hours I was thinking it was strange that I still haven't heard anything and haven't even seen a doctor and I'm still sitting in the waiting room while a nurse is playing Dr on me next to tweakers and Folsom's finest lowlifes. They brought me behind a curtain again in the general waiting area and told me they needed to draw more blood at this point I asked them to remove the IV catheter because I intended on going home the phlebotomist went and retrieved the nurse and I asked her to remove the IV catheter. I told her I do not feel comfortable having her play Dr in the waiting room. At this point, she got frustrated with me and told me I was refusing medical service which I replied nicely. I don't believe I've received much medical service nor has anyone talk to me or told me what's going on for 5 1/half hours she also told me if I went home with the IV in my arm she would send the police to my house. I'm no expert in the HIPAA rules, but I believe her telling the police I have IV in my arm would probably be a violation of this. Finally, after some debate, she removed the IV catheter and I went home. I have been to hospitals in Third World countries which are much Cleaner and throw than this hospital and the total cost of the visit was less than my co-pay. I would never go here again. If you're in an ambulance getting transported and they say they're taking you to Folsom mercy kick the back door open and push the gurney out on the highway. I can promise you will have much better luck than the waiting room nurse playing Dr in a petri dish of nastiness, they call a waiting room. The major problem with this hospitals emergency room is that they wear you down and make you never wanna come back how many people die every year because they had such a bad experience of Folsom mercy and decided to stay home instead of go to the emergency room when they need medical attention. Don't be one of those people go to a different hospital and see an actual doctor in an actual hospital room not a nurse playing Dr in a waiting room. For those of you who voted for Obama care I hope you go to this hospital you cause this mess. By the way, I should've checked the Yelp reviews they only had 2 1/2 stars the lithium battery that I purchased on Amazon and it caught fire in my living room had three stars. Steer clear of this place unless you want to dance with the devil. This hospital should be classified as a teaching hospital because they teach you never to come back.
