Nice place to have a surgery done. I've had multiple procedure procedures done here. However, their medical insurance billing department leaves a lot to be desired. After providing multiple explanation of benefits from my insurance company to them, they still are trying to harass me to pay the portion that my medical group or insurance is responsible for. Their billing department cannot seem to communicate with my insurance company very well and instead just wants to pull the me. Have spent hours with the various entities here to try and correct this still ongoing from a procedure in July 2024. read more

I just recently had foot surgery here and the staff was amazing. This was the 5th surgery in my whole life but I am a person who asks a lot of questions. Not only did I have any need to ask more but I was completely satisfied about it. The anasthesiologist Dr Kimbell (sorry if name is wrong) was incredible. I had a really great experience here today for my Tonsillectomy. The front desk ladies were very kind & patient with my silly questions. The doctor that was getting me all set up was so kind & funny, he helped calm my nerves. This is my first big surgery/hospital visit so I was extremely nervous. He reassured me and cracked jokes to make me feel better. The anesthetic lady was also very kind and made sure to calm my nerves when I was in the operating room & made me feel at ease. The nurses were very kind especially the kind lady with me in recovery. And my surgeon from roseville ENT was wonderful too. I was so nervous but the way I was treated today made me feel so confident and fearless in the procedure & less uncomfortable with the situation. I had a shockwave treatment to remove a kidney stone. This is a non-invasive, out patient procedure that does include general anesthesia. I had the procedure performed at Folsom Surgery Center. I had a wonderful experience! I had excellent nurses caring for me pre-op, during surgery, and post-op. They made sure my every need was met throughout my entire stay. My anesthesiologist and surgeon were attentive, caring, and accurate in their delivery of the treatment. I've only had muscle soreness and fatigue afterwards, which is great. I had to come here to bring my son for a tonsillectomy. From the moment we checked in until we went home, the staff there treated us absolutely amazing. The nurses were so wonderful with my little guy. You could tell they really love their job, by their mannerisms and the way they dealt with my son. They were so caring and considerate and understanding. The gentle ways they spoke to him and made him feel at ease when he had to leave to go back for his surgery, and when he came out of surgery. This is a very well organized facility that seems to employ people that really like their job and respect their colleagues. My brother was scheduled for a tonsillectomy and I was his designated driver. We arrived early, went through registration, were escorted to a room and prepped for surgery in no time. A series of unfortunate events led to a delay in the actual procedure however the nursing staff was extremely gracious in rehguards to the delay and made every effort to keep us comfortable...including the use of a portable DVD player to watch a movie on! The attentive nursing staff is what set this establishment apart from other facilities I have visisted. My brother was not the only patient under phenomenal care here...I had the opportunity to observe excellent nursing bestowed upon every patient nervously awaiting to be rolled off to "sleepy town." The surgery was a success and he is well on his way to recovery with no complications! read more

This is the second time I've had surgery at this facility and the nurses and Dr's never stop amazing me. They get you checked in and ready for surgery in short order. The girls are kind and caring and you can tell genuinely interested in providing you the best possible care. I would more than recommend using this facility for your out patient care. As far as the other reviewers talking about there unsavory billing practices I can't speak about that. I paid for co-pay and % at the time of my surgery. If you need payment arrangements I understand that, but as a business owner I can guarantee you were turned over to collections because you didn't do what you said. It costs more for a business to turn you over to collections, trust me- they would rather you pay on time! read more

I accompanied a person who was having a surgical procedure done at this facility. The procedure went well and exemplary care happened beyond the waiting room. This rating is for the occurrence in the waiting room and how it was handled. The waiting area is very small chairs are together and persons across from you are about four feet. There is a drinking fountain in the area. When the 2 of us sat down, there was a women wearing a face mask, constantly coughing , pulling down her mask, and blowing into tissues which she held in her hand. As a Nurse Practitioner for more than 25 yrs, I was appalled that they allowed a person to sit right next to the drinking fountain ( maybe 6 inches) coughing and blowing her nose etc and even in the waiting room with persons awaiting surgery and their companions. I went up to the receptionist and told her we were uncomfortable with the situation. She told me that it was okay, the lady was waiting for someone in surgery and that she "only had a sinus infection". An infection! Not only did the receptionist violate the HIPA law protecting the women's privacy, but she was allowing a person with an infection to sit in the surgery waiting room with patients who were going into surgery , directly by the drinking fountain people where using. When she coughed and blew her nose without the mask on she was potentially driving germs onto the fountain! Also whatever she touched like or chair arms and the fountain. In other words, she was a host for an infection that may of spread. I did not want to cause a ruckus while there were people waiting for their surgery. When I was alone with the coughing women I went over to her and asked if she would please wash her hands after she blew her nose, and dispose of the tissue in the trash 2 ft away, and to keep the mask over her nose. She just said no and closed her eyes. I went over to the receptionist and told her, She said she could not ask the lady to do that. So, I said , can you ask the lady to wait outside or in her car. She said no. I gave her my phone number and said I would be in my car to call me, which she did. This is the flu season, people who are coughing , sneezing , blowing nose, should not be exposing their germs to anyone, especially those waiting to go into a surgical suite! Take care if going there. The receptionists need some education about infection control at this facility. read more

Had shoulder surgery here yesterday (10/1/15). Service from beginning to end was outstanding. My shoulder feels great and can't wait until I'm fully recovered so I can exercise again. The receptionist was super friendly, the nurses were exceptional, my anesthesiologist was so cute (talk about making my heart beat a little faster) and of course my doctor was amazing. Very good experience. Would definitely recommend them. Did I have a copay? Yes! Is that their fault? No. Those whining about fees need to be aware of their own insurance limitations and not take it out on those trying to get them better. Excellent facility read more

Let me preface by saying, I am a licensed health insurance agent who understands how health insurance works with all parties involved in surgery. After several hours of attempting to correct the coding errors from the billing department a week before my wife's surgery, we simply decided to not use the Folsom Surgery Center. I've been there before, its clean, people are polite and very helpful in regards to medical care. However, Dena in billing was set on charging us the cash price for the surgery, even though we have insurance and have fully met our out of pocket max for the year. We told her what needed to happen with our insurance as well as the doctor's office and she simply wanted someone else to do her job for her. She actually hung up on my wife during a very relaxed though divided conversation. Totally unprofessional. Had she made the necessary phone calls to clarify and resolve the simple error the surgery would have been scheduled there and all would be well. However, not so much. read more

I was scheduled to have surgery at the Folsom Surgery Center tomorrow morning. Over the past 3 weeks I completed all of the required medical procedures and visits that were necessary. Yet, my surgery was cancelled at the last possible moment the night before. The nurse on staff was rude (wendy) and had no clue that I had a port a cath. It was hard to understand her because she spent so much time talking under her breath, instead of speaking to me. She transferred me to her nurse supervisor who also had no clue about me as a patient, no clue I had a port a cath and no clue what meds I took or that I had a hematologic disorder. Once I explained all of this, the Folsom Surgery Center opted to cancel my surgery citing they did not know about my medical history until the night before the surgery was scheduled to take place. I believe they discriminated against me because of my blood disorder. The idea that a patient who has had prior surgeries is cancelled the night before, despite 3 weeks of preparation is disgusting. The incompetence of the nursing staff is epic. The nursing supervisor told me it is their normal process to contact patients the night before surgery. Her exact words were, "What can I say, we were just busy." She also told me that they don't review patient files until the night before a scheduled surgery either. I don't believe any reputable business can operate under such a process. She was lying. I believe, since I am a patient with special medical needs it was more convenient to cancel my surgery instead of providing competent complete care. The nursing supervisor exclaimed "Do you know this is an elective procedure?" Correcting a chronic sinus condition is not an elective procedure to me. It means finally receiving relief for years of flare ups and extreme infections and discomfort. Folsom Surgery Center does not care about the patients with special needs. They will cancel you in a heartbeat of you require 1 step above basic care. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

2 part review: Medical staff top notch. Great Nurses and OR staff. Nurse Betty was wonderful went out of her way to help me get through my experience here. Facility and Scheduling: HORRIBLE. Checked in at 0930 for a 1030 procedure. Waited 3 hours to get into OR. Was told back up was due to equipment not being ordered to arrive at the right time for an earlier procedure. Only curtains separate patients. NO privacy. I think I overheard at least 4 different patients personal info and planned procedures. At the end, they had some poor guy sitting in a chair right across from my bed while they checked him in .So much for medical confidentiality. read more

Went here for knee surgery and was treated like a king. My wife and daughter was with me. They took the time to give my daughter a DVD player so her time will go faster. They were very professional, caring and extremely nice. Hopefully I will not need anymore surgeries in life, but if I do, I will go back. read more

You know going into surgery was a bit overwhelming. I didn't expect to feel at ease by all the wonderful staff. The nurse who helped me named Angie was super sweet. She made me feel very comfortable and you can really tell she loves her job. I got there at 1:30 but wasn't seen until 5:00. Dr. Yee was backed up but all the staff did such a wonderful job keeping me company. The anesthesia provider was really good at explaining the whole game plan. I woke up and didn't even realized surgery was done. I totally forgot the nurse name that took care of me after surgery but she was super amazing! She made sure I had plenty of water and made sure I was safe to go home. She even called me to follow up the next day and said to me I was the best patient. Little did she know I was so moved by the way I was treated there. Never have I been to a doctor facility and felt that I actually mattered. This was a great experience, the Nurses were all very friendly. I was treated well and they informed me all the way through the procedure what to expect. My only complaint was that I had a lot of waiting time. I think that may come with the territory as it is hard to time and coordinate everything and I was one of the last to leave the prep area since my last of the batch. I had ankle surgery with Dr. Guilfoy at FSC, my first surgery in over 20 years. I hear a lot about how inefficient medical care is, but this place runs like a stopwatch. I came in at 8AM, my nurses Kelly and Wendy got me ready for surgery, and I was in surgery at 9AM. My anesthesiologist was Dr. Scott Brown, and he was great, using a mix of drugs to minimize my pain after surgery. My surgery nurse was Katie, and she did a very good job of preparing me for what would happen in surgery. The next thing I knew I was in the recovery room and it was 11AM. I had no nausea and no pain while in the recovery room, the drugs worked so well I can't remember my recovery nurse's name but she was also wonderful as well. read more

I will begin my review by saying......watch your wallet. Before I came to Folsom I had 3 epidurals from another doctor all of which were fully paid for with my insurance minus the co pay. I never suspected that this would be so much different. The accountant called me the day before the procedure and asked for money. She did not explain anything. That was the first flag. Then when I arrived for the procedure I was given "loan documents" to sign. All along I figured no problem because this has always been fully covered by my insurance. Well then I got the bill I about fell over. I called and with the calm cool demeaner of a debt collector, they proudly informed me they had signed documents and that if I did not pay I would be sent to collections. When asked if I could make payments and they informed me that 4 months was the longest they could extend stating, again like a debt collector, "dictated by corporate" Never once did they refer me to carecredit.com which was introduced only on their final bill....see below. The first bill I received in January said I owed 122.25 which I promptly paid. There was no remaining balance shown on the statement. Then on 4/17 I received a new statement showing a balance of over $600.00. With the following statement. "ACCOUNT WILL BE SENT TO COLLECTIONS ON 4/27/2018". If there is anywhere else you can go, I recommend you go there. read more

I have taken my daughter to the Folsom Surgery Center 7 times for pain related proceedures. Every time, all of the staff has been exceptionally professional, curteous, and helpful. The front desk receptionist, Joanie, has gone out of her way to help obtain follow up visits that should have been scheduled at other facilities when employees at the OTHER offices had dropped the ball. We feel completely confident in the abilities of the medical staff. I would definitely reccommend this surgery center to anyone. read more

I was over-billed for my surgery by quite a bit of money. When I caught this, I asked Folsom Surgery Center for a refund. They acknowledged that I had overpaid but did not refund my money. It has been 4 months now, and I have called them and my insurer on about 10 occasions, but still no refund. I would not do business with this company again. read more

From the time I walked into and out of this facility for sinus surgery, I was treated with excellent care! My pre-op nurse, Wendy, was extremely friendly as well as my RN, Kassie . They were so helpful, as well as the anesthesiologist, at putting my anxieties to rest before surgery. Upon entering the op room, one nurse said that she had this same surgery and that it wasn't that bad. She said, "You'll feel like you have a big booger stuck up your nose!" I laughed. After surgery, Renee and Rosy monitored my pain level and discussed my at home instructions, reminding me to take Metamucil and a stool softener when taking pain medication. They put a gauze mustache on me, gave me more ice chips to go, and a sinus ice pack to use at home, which greatly relieved the sinus pressure pain. It's been three days since my surgery and I feel really good. FYI, the op nurse was right. I feel like there is a big booger up my nose. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to blow my nose right now, but my sinuses fell a lot better. Thank you Folsom Surgery Center for your excellent teamwork and to my ENT Dr. Groppo! read more

I was in a car wreck in 2001 and, since then, have had many outpatient procedures as well as inpatient surgeries. On 09/27/16, I had a knee scope and debride plus repair of torn meniscus. I can only say that every person at Folsom Surgery Center treated me like I was a queen. From my pre-surgery phone call, the receptionist on the day of surgery, the entire care staff, to the anesthesiologist ... I have nothing but thanks for the best healthcare experience in my entire life. It seemed that my personal care and comfort were their only concern. I was very happy with the service my husband received there with regard to his surgery. My experience with their billing department was terrible though. I requested a payment plan which was accepted. I made all my payments on time and for the amount agreed upon and they turned my account over to a collection Agency called Rash Curtis. They called me and threatened me and said they had determined that I had the assets to clear the debt and that I had missed my last payment and if I didn't pay in full now, they would report me to the credit bureau. This is horrible customer service as I was never told I was in danger of my account going to a collection agency. It turned out to be an error of course and my account should not have been sent to collections of course because I did not miss a payment and was not deliquent in any way!! I will not use the Folsom Surgery Center again due to their incompetent billing department and this extremely upsetting experience with their collection agency. It's unfortunate because the staff there did excellent work with regard to my husband's surgery from the pre-op nurse to the anesthesiologist, the surgeon and post-op nurse. They need to clean up their billing practices. When I requested that they honor the discount they had offered me just a month prior due to the experience I had, my request was denied due to their "corporate policies." I give one star because billing. The procedure went well, the staff involved were excellent. The part i don't like is i was told one price, was told there might be an adjustment depending on my deductible for my insurance but was assured if it's more it won't be that much more. So i paid and had the procedure done. I then get a very large bill, no explanation on it describing why the cost had increased by more than half. So i called the billing dept, at first the lady was nice but after so many questions it was clear i was irritating her and she got rude. I feel like i was lied to and this procedure is costing me a total of $700 out of pocket. I had an epidermal steroid injection done which helped a lot for one week, then wore off and is now long gone. Obviously they want me to come back in and get another one done, but for $700 bucks-no! I can't afford that! I feel like these people take advantage of injured disabled people. They promise relief, but at an extrodinary cost! Now i have to pay this bill within 3 months time. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that. I'm totally bummed, i thought this was going to be a good thing but it has not turned out good for me. I will never go back. read more
