It's so close, convenient and located in a plaza with over a dozen nail salons and a sprinkling of food/drink places. A perfect plaza to kill time for a parent who is waiting for their child that is taking dance classes in these studios. For those who would like to be present as their kid takes class, these studios also have a great seating area to observe the lessons. They have just recently expanded classes for older kids and adults. A great way for the adults to move their bodies, get their groove back on, and burn some calories. To top it off, DanceLA just opened up another studio two doors down to accommodate more classes. The recent open house showcased this beautiful space. This place has friendly, encouraging, and supportive dance teachers who are skilled in teaching students of all ages. There is also ample parking in the adjacent structure. Local, reasonably priced, with friendly, kind, staff members, is a winner in my book. Check this place out! Whether you're a youngster just starting out, a former dancer looking to move again, or an older newbie that wants to move their body for fun, DanceLA is the place for you. Check them out and support local businesses.

Communication and the clarity are poor. The experience with violin instructor, Ana, was unpleasant. She showed little patience to the point where my daughter was put off the violin. When approaching Ana, asking her to extend patience to the student, she gave us a "this is how I am, take it or leave it" type of response. We are very disappointed.

It's hard to rate this place like any other music school or business in the area. Its function (not…read moreits "mission") is to teach arts and music to the community at a very reasonable rate (the community is rather underprivileged and this place is a real gem). So what is it that they offer? It seems like everything under the sun. They have a choir, a folklorico group (I think), and some other public/non-enrolled groups. Quality teachers instruct in instrumental education at a reduced rate for kids, including but not limited to strings, woodwinds (though I see less of them and haven't seen any brass players, but you probably should call to find out), piano and percussion. They are also respected for their voice instruction, as Alison Iraheta from American Idol some seasons ago was instructed here. However, it's not just instrumentation and music that they teach, they also have a drama class and several other seasonal rotating classes. Additionally, one of the most spectacular things about this school is their summer camp program (camp MusArt). The program has some great staff and instructors, and they usually have two months (1 section per month) and a production for each section (a fully staged musical) by the kids. Howe we, last summer they were only able to manage one section because LAUSD has screwed up their schedules with their budget issues forcing kids to go back to school at different times. The last show was the Wizard of Oz, prior to that they've done Mary Poppins, the Lion King, Mulan, West Side Story, etc. every year it's a treat for the kids to participate. Nothing can replace the quality they provide on such a reasonable level. Arts need more support, check out what you can do to help at http://www.lamusart.org

It was a major turn off that ultimately had me coming to the studio less and less until a bunch of their teachers who had been there for years quit due to unethical business practice and seeing the behavior that Lauren exhibited. She doesn't understand the difference between confidence and egotistical. Theres a reason so many teachers and students left this studio last year. I would stay far away from this place and give your money to people who deserve it.

I liked the idea of trying to stray away from focusing on money and taking into consideration everyone's financial situation however, my first visit wasn't very welcoming to say the least after wandering around confused looking for direction I managed to talk to one of the moms who BRIEFLY guided me to where the girls practice and informed me Martha was the one in charge. Then since there was absolutely no introduction of the new students to the rest of the class I managed to persuade my daughter to jump in with the rest of the group. First class went fine now the second class not so much. Upon arrival the group is split up into two groups the know how's and know not. To my surprise the new kids were told to stand off to the side and were left there with no guidance or instructions after about 45 minutes of seeing my daughter just stand around I decided to ask one of the parents if they'd be practicing today or if the focus would just be on the more experienced kids she hesitantly tried to explain they had an upcoming performance and the new kids would not be included in the practice but to confirm with Martha .... Sooo I go to confirm with her and immediately she defensively begins to repeat that EVERYONE does it that way they focus on the experienced kids and the new ones have to try an mimic the dance...!!??? Now I get it a performance is a huge deal and it takes a lot to prepare for BUT that was not the answer I was looking for. I've had my daughter in ballet cheer soccer karate tumbling ect. And no everyone does NOT do it that way. Overall it's a good group who are attempting to organize themselves unfortunately I live 30 minutes away and don't have the luxury of driving over there to have my child just stand around. I see them establishing themselves very well but not until correcting their mistakes. Beginners should have a separate class from intermediate and advance. Potential members should be greeted and introduced to the other dancers/instructors and all concerns should be handled with patience consideration and professionalism. Unfortunately I decided this group is not for us. Also this group is deeply affiliated with the Catholic Church (I should have known given the name an location) I wasn't too fond of that. I decided to go with Steps Of Gold although much more expensive well worth the investment!

It seems most dance teachers have to fit in lessons at the end of a very busy day of other jobs and studios. But they come refreshed and give consistent, fun energy every time. Classes are fun. Intermediate goes quick. It's not Beginner+ like at some studios where it gets watered down. I appreciate that. My first time I left after 5 minutes. Months later I tried again and made it 15 before I could no longer keep up. It gives you something to work up to. Even after probably 40+ beginner classes, I had to really focus in an intermediate class. The general classes can be crowded and lopsided with way more guys. But they can control that. However, Master classes are smaller and they only take a matched quantity of leads and follows so less sitting out rotations. For some reason even when we started with a matched quantity the guys tended to come more consistently (pressure is on us to learn it!) The rotation break can be helpful when it does happen so you can walk yourself through it alone. I've taken lessons from probably 60 other dance pros in another type of dance and Nicole and Demetrio are the best. I switched dances because Steven's Steakhouse was close to home and they just made it fun. I genuinely missed it when I couldn't go so decided to stick with it.

Before the classes I felt like I only danced awkwardly and never got my body to move right. I felt immediate confidence even trying some of their tutorials on YouTube because they address common things that people tend to do that would make the moves look awkward. The first class I took with them was free using the Yelp check in offer. The class usually begins with a warm up of the basic steps where the whole class faces the instructors. After, the class pairs off with a lead and a follow but are expected to rotate partners so that everyone can learn with someone else. Some students are more experienced than others and some have their own swag which makes things super fun. Each time we rotate we build on the routine for the session. Demetrio and Nicole make it a point to make sure the leads don't do things that violate the follows and the students I encountered were respectful and friendly. I had also took their beginner Masterclass which was very helpful and interesting. Each class provided insight and focused on helping us build a foundation to be able to gain confidence to better dance socially. As a follow, Nicole would teach us how to style our moves which I thought was great because she would show us examples how best to achieve the style and also warn us what may look awkward. They never single us out but rather just guide the class as a whole unless the individual had a question. Lastly, Demetrio and Nicole specifically have a flow and routine that is generally easier to follow than the guest instructors. I felt even though some guest instructors had some fun music they were way harder to follow which made the classes less enjoyable. I have recommended many of my friends to check them out.
