Most jewelers date their batteries with a marker and I believe he had as well, but he denied having done the replacement and refused to replace it. For the $1.00 or so, not more it had cost him, since he already had the watch open, the smart thing with respect to customer good will would have been to just put in a new one. But he wasn't smart enough to do that. However he is very shrewd and I think, dishonest. With respect to his incessant TV ads to sell you gold and Rolex watches there for cash, I would suggest you get other quotes on your gold/Rolex before going to Marquis Jewelers!

Then the conversation was very different than what I had on the phone with them. We recently bought an engagement ring and other items elsewhere, and have spent likely thousands. We can be great customers, but no one wanted to help me, and when they did notice me it was such an uncomfortable experience. I believe the sales ladies were trying to be nice, but the space in the store is very narrow and crowded, and awkward. I was never asked my name, or any other information. They were very apologetic the entire time. I did drop off the item, but after retalking about it and seeing the other reviews, I went back for the item because It was an uncomfortable experience and I was worried something would happen to a family jewelry item. I would definitely read the reviews, as their experience is similar to mine as someone coming in for an item repair. They were more interested in people buying items right away, and did not seem interested in me or my needs as a brand new customer.

Folklorica is one of the nicest, small, one-of-a-kind boutiques. They have all kinds of things that make perfect gifts for family or friends, or even for yourself. From Thymes products to different designer jewelry, and scarves and handbags and wallets. This place gets my 5 star rating. I first visited this boutique when visiting my cousin in 2011. She took me to Folklorica and I fell in love with it. The ladies working there are very gracious and helpful. I found things there for several members of my family to bring back with me. Each time I've been there, they haven't different items. They have always been pleasant and cheerful. The store is small but that's what gives it it's uniqueness. The hometown feeling. I thought it was pertinent for everyone who is a fan or not of Folklorica to know that the owner is unethical and an immoral individual. He does not pay the artisans, and withholds payment. He is not supporting the community and while we give him our goods in full faith, unfortunately he makes off with the money and leaves the community. It would not be out of place in the South End. The walls were full of art from a local photographer that was amazing, but I don't have $325 to drop on a 24 x 8 inch panel right now. It's definitely one of the best-smelling stores I have ever been to, but the most expensive candle was $48, not two bills. However, there was a pretty sizeable selection of "reasonably priced" items, like $24 scarves, wine racks on sale, little foodstuff items, hair accessories. I ended up picking up two $12 leather-and-studded headbands which were cool. It's definitely the kind of place where you're either shopping for yourself or a woman whose taste you know really, really well. Because you're dealing with a home store with an independently-curated selection of stuff, the gifts aren't safely generic like Pottery Barn or Williams-Sonoma--I hope that makes sense. I really have a bias against indifferent customer service. So the only serious ding was that the woman behind the counter basically did not acknowledge or speak to me until I asked if I could put the headbands at the register while I shopped some more--she was sweet as could be and chatty after that. There was only one other customer in the store, who also got ignored until she made a purchase. I don't like feeling like I have to pay to get a hello out of someone. Good for you - I did not. I was pretty hopeless. Who would you even think to bring something like to?? On a different day I went jewelry shopping (the kind of shopping where I get "ideas"...har har) and I went into this wonderful place. Brimming with silvergoods (more so than with jewels) I asked if they repaired candelabras. Of course, they say! Yay. So at 5:05 pm today I call them and ask what time they close. Oh, you close at 5? "Well if you think you can make it here in 10 minutes, come on over." That from one of the Parsons himself. What a nice guy! I was so pleased that he stayed later than closing time. Icing on the cake was "sure we can get this back to you this week." More to come when I get the returned good.... UPDATE Wow, it cost $100 to fix (almost as much as the darn thing is worth) but they did such a fantastic job on it I don't think it will ever break off again. You can hardly tell it was fixed. They had it back to me in a couple days, too. Great service!!!

Farley asked all the right questions. I was so impressed. And they said they would have it done before Christmas. For the duration, I brought my boss and colleague in when they needed to purchase Christmas gifts- 5 mins after closing. We were welcomed with open arms, and we got to see some really special historic pieces the store has for sale. On the date they promised, I got the call. The product is impeccable.
