First night in Prague, and we wanted to try local cuisine. Quite honestly, I have always thought of…read moreCzech food as hearty, which has never been my preference. I had beef neck sous-vide with a lager. The beef was accompanied by a poached egg, bread dumplings, and a dill sauce. I was expecting something heavy, but it wasn't. It was really excellent. So fun to try new foods when traveling.

TLDR: there are better options for food and beer. I came here because the reviews were excellent,…read morehowever, I wasn't the biggest fan. We ordered the beef cheeks, which were served cold (likely as intended but not what I was expecting). Flavor was fine but not great. The burger was also just okay. For something so standard, it was passable but not likely to order again. Our favorite dishes were 1) the duck and 2) potato and vegetable patties. Duck was crispy, hot, and had pretty good flavor! The vegetable patties were also crispy and balanced, slightly sweet. The beer list was limited but we liked what we ordered. Hate to be a broken record but we've had better while in the city. Wouldn't recommend this place to a friend since it was just average.

This was probably my favourite restaurant that I ate at whilst in Czechia. The food, the location,…read moreand the hospitality was amazing through and through. The food on offer for Easter Day lunch and dinner was great. The three course choice menu provided us a sample of traditionally prepared rabbit, while our mains were delicious Czech cuisine. Dessert was a very tasty pear and ice cream en flambé. Located on the edge of the area and just on the other side of the large park, it is a nice spot to stumble upon for a bite to eat or have a full meal. Seating inside with open windows provides great views of the hillside as well as the busy sidewalk. The staff was very attentive and accommodating for us and for the large number of guests that were showing up for Easter Day dinner. They carved out time for our table to sample their wines and beers before ordering and were very on top of ensuring everything about our experience was going well. For the high quality food this restaurant produces and the overall experience, I think you are getting a great value for your money if you decide to visit this place during your stay in Prague.

It's all about the sauces! Czech dumplings are tasteless but when combined with one of the many…read moresauces offered, they come alive. My order of chicken came with pasta not the dumpling but that cheese sauce did wonders for my pasta! I ordered a blueberry dessert dumpling that came with a rich, thick, vanilla cream sauce. Amazing sauce! My wife had fried cheese and delicious boiled potatoes. Her sauce was merely ketchup and mayo. Both meals were very good. When you enter, they give you a piece of paper. You approach the counter and ask the servers for the meal you want and they give it to you and mark up your paper with codes. There are booths in the various cafeteria like spaces to sit at. When you finish and leave, you present your paper with codes to the clerk in the glass booth and pay. A great to taste the local cuisine without spending a fortune.

I read a little about it online and some people said ordering can be intense and stressful, so I did my homework, kitted up, and got ready to go to war. There's a menu with the most popular dishes outside so to limit the decision fatigue, I knew I was gonna order a #1. I entered the restaurant where the staff handed me a slip of paper and sent me through the gates. You walk to the serving line, hand the staff your paper and tell them what you want, then take your plate and paper somewhere to sit down and eat. Way easier than what online experiences said to expect. There's a seating area which resembles an atrium so I knew I had to sit there. Their most popular dish, a Sirloin in Cream Sauce isn't much of one for looks. What the dish lacks in looks, is made up for in quality and taste. The bread tasted so good with the sauce, I couldn't help but saturate each slice. The beef was soft and was disguised under the sauce as a surprisingly hefty portion. A solid, well balanced dish. All in all, this restaurant is easily the best bang-for-your-buck to try out some authentic Czech food while not breaking the bank at all. I had a wonderful experience where I was able to sit down, relax and feel a bit more immersed in the culture. You won't have any issues with trying out this place and if you do, at least it's inexpensive.
