There was a 2" x 4" section on the back where they peeled off the gloss finish, there is glue smeared all over the side of the guitar along the waist area, and there are multiple scratches and dings on the body and neck. Worse yet, their response was simply "We've never had this happen before". It was just a stunning lack of workmanship on a high end acoustic.

Anyway, just my observation as someone who walked by it on the sidewalk once and definitely not the bass teacher with the essential oil diffuser (it's cedarwood oil). On a more serious (quarter) note: enrolling your kids here opens them to an extremely supportive, positive, driven community while at the same time exposes them to the highest caliber private & small group music instruction in Naperville.

This shop and their tech just shows that they don't care about your gear and will not take care of it. Even during COVID, he hasn't missed a beat, switching to virtual lessons. His teacher, Adam, is an amazing musician and instructor and Sam, the guitar tech has done excellent work on his guitars. Hix is more than a music shop, they provide opportunities for student musicians to play live at events they sponsor at local clubs and through their Rock School programs. Their events gave my son the confidence to sing and play in front of audiences and he now does it on his own. I would give Hix even more stars if I could. Highly recommended.

However, the experience became extremely frustrating due to how I was treated by staff. I drove 40 minutes to the store yesterday only to be turned away because I didn't have my ID with me. So today, I made another 40-minute drive to try again, only to be turned away a second time because I arrived three minutes after the start of their "closing procedures." I was then told they are not allowed to process buybacks within an hour of closing, despite the store still being open. After spending nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes driving back and forth between both trips, all I walked away with was disappointment and frustration. The lack of communication, consistency, and customer service was extremely disappointing. Because of this experience, I will no longer be shopping at or doing business with Guitar Center. May I remind you gas is at $5 a fucking gallon.

Although I had a teacher who was mean and wasn't nice. He was nice when you meet him but when you get to know you, he's rude and gives you a attitude and he's the other reason why I quit band. His name was Luke Mallicore or something of his last name. I have a cleft pallet and he always sounded annoyed when I try to explain to him that I can't reach to certain high notes and he tells me not to do something with my mouth even though that's the only way for me to play my trombone. I wouldn't recommend to have classes with him.

We paid for it a month ahead of the time, cleared our schedules, even had extended family informed. It was supposed to be at 9:45 this morning at a church. We had grandparents from out of town drive 2.5 hours so that they can be a part of it. We bought our son a new suit and dress shoes, as we were emailed by the teacher about the dress code, no gym shoes. We bought flowers to give to our son afterwards to congratulate him. Not even mentioning hours of practice he did for the event and the excitement he had. ALL to get a call 10 minutes prior the event, when we were already in the church parking lot, informing us that the event got cancelled. THE REASON: they could not get into the church. There was ONE, SINGLE, point of contact they had with the church, who failed to show up to let them in. I went to the office as I believe I needed more of an explanation. The staff and owners did not even accept responsibility for this: 'Church person did not show up!'. When I said the place you pick is your responsibility, all they can say was we can happily refund you for the recital money. How are you going to refund the disappointment, frustration and waste of time? Also couple months ago, our teacher was not available for two weeks. Their scheduling is so NOT flexible that they could not schedule make up classes for us at all. We ended up specifically demanding a refund for those classes as they tried to schedule something for weeks but were unable to do so. Our son has been taking classes here for two years now. We love our teacher. But this level of ineptitude displayed by the staff and the owners is just beyond comprehension.
