Folger Gas (Murphy) quotes a low price then hits you with a $50 charge for a "required" 10 minute "leak check" and demand to get inside your house for an "inspection" (of nothing but to see what gas appliances you have and to try to upsell you and look for something they can get more work and money from you) It's a scam. A true leak check is much more time consuming than that. Hours, not minutes. The "manager" siad if I don't like it go somewhere else. I own my own tank, and I will. read more

Switched to Folger Gas and received an invoice after delivery to my home. On the invoice it was stamped Net 30 which means in business terms that the payment is due within 30 days. I called to pay my invoice within 30 days and they upcharged my gas from 2.99 gallon to 3.29 a gallon against the terms in their invoice. I tried to discuss the definition of Net 30 with their less than understanding office staff who argued with me about what Net 30 means. They denied the definition and instead argued with me. I would have gladly split the difference with them. I guess the only privately owned gas company in town has no desire to keep new customers. read more

We have lived in Ellijay for over 12 years, and during that time have exclusively used Folger Gas for all our propane needs. If repairs become necessary, they always schedule same day service. In 2015 they installed a new Rinnai tankless water heater, and we've been on their stable propane billing with auto delivery service. Maintaining this relationship is one of the best things we've done since moving here in 2012. Without exception, the personnel we speak with on the phone and who come to our home are professional, courteous, and respectful. Every employee exemplifies the best aspects of how service should be provided. I don't think you can find a propane company near Blue Ridge that can spell customer service! I wanted to switch from Thompson and when I tried to arrange something with Folgers it all fell apart. Every time Thompson delivered they would attempt to enter my driveway even though its obvious a truck would bottom out. They destroyed my newly paved driveway twice and I'd had enough. I even have a "No Trucks" sign at the entrance. They did other damage as well but thats enough about Thompson. I went to Folgers and asked for someone to come out and review the site before I pull the plug on Thompson and the response I got was "we don't do site inspections this time of the year, were too busy"! September? Come on! The boss man can at least drive his Porsch 5 miles to assure a job is prepared for correctly????? i I was doing them a favor and they Obviously are too fat and happy! Can home to an empty propane tank and called Folgers gas and left a message on their 24/7 line and within 15 minutes Joseph from Folgers returned my call. He was so helpful and understood my worries about not having any gas for all my appliances and even offered to out at 9 pm on a Saturday night to fill my tank to please my family. Told him tomorrow morning would be fine. As promised he was here on a Sunday morning and filled my tank and found we had a leak. He called his supervisor and within an hour Brandon showed up and found the leak right away and also told me to let's go inside to make all appliances worked to make sure he did not to light any of the pilot lights. I have been with Folgers since 2016 and always been extremely with their workmanship and understanding our concerns as a residential customer. Unless it is me, I feel there could be better service for sure from this office in Blue Ridge. The office staff is not even nice, never mind friendly . I can say that the one time I had to have service on the regulator the tech was good and very helpful, however. They do maintain a yearly price o the propane. I have been a customer for 7 years. I even clean my rented tank Folger does do not come out to even check it. When you call into the office they may not even answer the phone or return your calls. I called about m tank rental as I was away and did not receive the bill or mail forward in April . I called to see what I owed and left a message for a call return as directed but never received one. They billed me again in May with interest on the tank and would not deliver propane until I did pay the rental. I release they are busy and in business to make a profit and there are many out they who lag behind in their payments but I am not one of them. Definitely think twice before committing to Folgers Gas! I had been on their monthly budget plan for three years, and had a credit balance of $400 on my account when I notified them in November 2024 that I had sold my home and was moving out of state. This was the worst company experience I have ever had....we bought our cabin in july 2019 and since the previous owners had a folgers propane tank we went with folgers....i did not look at their poor reviews online or I would have gone with another company. We had folgers install the ponderosa gas logs which was $1,200 and the two gentlemen had problems with the installation, but finally got it working. The gas fireplace never worked properly for us or our guests from that moment on. Folgers repeatedly had to be called and they came out numerous times and attempted to get the fireplace working properly. Finally, they installed a second set of Ponderosa logs...and it still did not work properly. All the while, Folgers kept billing our credit card for their service calls to fix the fireplace that they installed and which was under warranty. Kim, the owner's wife, has never responded to our calls. Our cleaning lady went to the store where Kim came out in a "Duck you" mask (shows real class) and she told my cleaning lady "I am so tired to those people and their bitching about the fireplace!" That was it for me. I called three times for a return phone call from the owner and never received one call. I left a message on folgers' receptionist that we no longer wanted their service and that we would be going with Freeman Gas but that we have renters coming in and that the propane tank could be removed after the new propane is installed by Freeman Gas so as to not leave our rental guests with out propane. I received a call from our guest last Friday morning, the propane tank had been drug out and they had no gas. Not only have I paid for a product that has never worked properly, I was overcharged for service calls and never reimbursed for the full propane we paid for when they drug the tank out with no notice. Initially set up account in 2018 to service propane tank on auto fill. In the beginning of 2019 I no longer wanted this company to service my account due to poor customer service and changed my service to will call. I set myself up with another company. In 2021 they filled my tank WITHOUT my authorization and charged 2.29 per gallon. The other company that I was currently set up with was 1.65 per gallon . That is a huge difference in price! I requested that they credit the difference and they said they would match the price of the other company. They are telling me that the other companies price was 1.89 (which is incorrect) and told me they would credit the difference with that price. I am not going to argue with them but clearly this was price gouging! Beware of their pricing the difference with Folgers vs the other company was over $100 to fill my tank!! In my 55 years I have never been more impressed with a company. The Folgers are true small business owners they work round the clock addressing needs of their customers. I met Mr. Folger on a Sunday afternoon servicing an emergency call at a neighbors cabin. I had a stove issue on Christmas Day and the next day purchased a new stove to replace my existing, I saw the Folger vehicle next door and sought out its driver. He told me he would let the office The next day, Monday I went to the office to request assistance. The technician I met the day before recognized me and told me how busy they were with 38 service calls but he told me they would do everything they could to get to me quickly, It turn out the technician is also Pete Folger the owner. Mrs. Folger was on top of my issues and hard at work, communication was excellent, service exceptional and the impossibly difficult customer is ecstatic. I am pleased to report a technician came out today (Jamie) he was on time, super knowledgeable, very professional and super clean. My stove old stove was removed, my new stove was set up, installed and inspected to ensure it was 100% before I was presented a tiny invoice. Bought a new tankless gas water heater and new gas logs for our fire place. The cost was $2,457.70. Wrote the check. A week later a bill comes for $171.15. They said they forgot to charge for the remote for the fire logs. Seems like a slick way to have me spend even more or a bait and switch. I then asked it they follow up with the installations, the answer was no. I asked because the installer left his trash where it fell after he cut holes in my basement. Not only a hole but cut out a section of my floor joist. I guess they did not expect me to check the work. The manager did not seem to care either. They did refund the charge for the remote only because I returned it and said no thank you. Very disappointed because I left Heritage gas because or terrible service. read more

Robert is very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Living in a remote area, I never worry about one the of Folgers Gas tech's coming to my house when I am alone. If I could put zero stars I would .I have used this company since 1998 .Never had an issue util last year .Along with the rental they charged me for unused gas , Really ? I called and they explained that I have to use all gas every year .Was going to change then but let it go .This year the same thing .Went into the office and was treated rudely, and very dismissively by the woman at the counter . After being a customer for over 20 years .... I have arranged to switch to a new company at the end of the month . Switching is a huge pain but I would never recommend this company to anyone .....The woman treated me as if I was doing her a favor being their customer . Make sure if you lease a tank from them you understand you better use the gas up that year or you will be charged not only the tank lease amount but also for not filling the tank with gas. Example for a 250 gallon tank the charge is $112.00. Also, if you buy a gas log set with electronic ignition, you better understand that they will be out each year to get it working properly. Folger calls that yearly maintenance. Never told me that at purchase. Found out the hard way spent $160 over two years for a Service guy to clean the pilot. Who would ever guess that you need a Service guy to come out every year to clean a pilot out. These people don't care just pay up and shut up. The absolute worst consumer experience I have ever had. If you do business with them be sure you get everything and I mean everything, in writing. You can't rely on what you are told over the phone and in my case there was a LOT I wasn't told until after they filled my tank. When I signed up, I was quoted a price of $1.99 a gallon for propane by one of their employees but after they filled my tank I was charged $2.39 a gallon which means I was overcharged by $81.00 which the owner refused to credit me with.
