A friend recommended I try Dathan Hunter Salon so I stopped by and checked it out, it's in a great spot in the downtown area, there is parking nearby and some of my favorite shops too. The salon was modern and clean and they had adorable dogs so I made an appointment with Ilyana. I ran a little late for my appointment but they forgave me, I enjoyed the experience and Ilyana did a fantastic job picking up where my previous stylist left off and my hair looks better than ever. I made my next appointment before I left and am delighted to have found a new spot for getting all prettied up.

She told me exactly what she was doing as she cut my hair. How considerate of her. She took her time and nailed the style. She gave me great instructions on using a diffuser with curl-defining cream. (It's a great product, it was not a hard sell) I would have never thought to try it on my very straight hair. The scalp massage with shampoo felt amazing! There were other women in the salon, I was very impressed by their color and cuts. I have several acquaintances who use this salon. Their hair always looks great. The salon has a nice vibe, it's clean and stylish. Dathan and Ilyana are warm and friendly. It was a pleasure to get a cut. The shop is very convenient to the ferry if you live on the islands. A big plus for me! The price was reasonable.

I loved that she was easy to talk to and never made me feel self-conscious for asking questions. The only problem I had was I had booked for a piercing as well and I had mentioned to the lady on the phone (not Kelley) about wanting to pierce my cartilage. I guess there was a miscommunication though since when I came in Kelley thought I had asked for a lobe piercing. Still, no biggie, since I was able to go next door and book an appointment for a later date. The pricing for a cut, wash and dry was only $20, which was a GREAT price for how attentive she was. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be returning here, but for now Kelley will be the bar I'll be holding my future stylist too. :)

Very disappointed with how unprofessional this salon is . I had an appointment with Tiffany this…read moremorning at 10am . I arrived 10 mins early to an empty salon foyer . I stood there for a good five minutes listening to another stylist talk about nasal drainage in the back . I finally peeked around the corner and she asked me if I had an apt . I said yes at 10am . She then informed me my stylist had a family emergency and wouldn't be able to make it . She pulled out her phone and started trying to show me text messages ?! There was an open appointment book with my name and number on the counter . I asked her why she didn't bother to call me to reschedule ? She just stood there with a blank stare and issued no apology. Come on ladies ! Emergencies happen, but be professional enough to cover for each other and inform your clients ! I will not be back . Update - I saw Kelley ( assumed salon owner) response to my post . I would just like to say I have no reason to make up or exaggerate my experience in her salon . I have never met any of the ladies before . It is surprising that the owner would not reach out to me and to hear her customers point of view before drawing conclusions. They have my phone number in the appointment book . The only good that came of this was the opportunity to meet and amazing stylist and have a great cut color done next door.
