Sure enough, a little while later, the crowd had thinned out and we easily found a table. Ordering was easy: the halibut fish and chips! My wife had a half order and I the full one. We weren't there for a typical meal, we did a culinary and Alaskan gardening class. These two things happen to be my all time favorite pass times. I learned so much from nearly every staff member I came into contact with. Their pastry chef taught us so much about bread making and the science behind it and was incredibly knowledgeable. The in house gardener (yes they have one of those!) grows ingredients on site to help supplement food costs and she taught us so much about how climate impacts the plants she grows. (Their rhubarb was gigantic) everything we ate was off the charts amazing! If I had to give a negative comment it would be that the manager seemed inconvenienced by the guests and made sure to tell us that we were keeping him from his busy day, but to be fair he said he isn't usually the one who gives guest presentations so I have to give him props for doing it even when he clearly had other things to do. We were walking around the town and saw their sign for a Reindeer Ruben that caught our interest. There was only a small line to order which was good because we were not sure if the hotdog was going to be a meal or a snack. The portion size was average so we decided to share one as a snack. They also had the option to have it as a Chili Dog instead. The service was very friendly and our food was prepared pretty quickly. The Reindeer Hotdog was served in a french bread roll that was a little bigger than the dog but it held all the ingredients in it just fine. I liked the crunch of the hot dog skin and the cabbage slaw on top was fresh. I didn't notice the cheese at first and it was a very thin slice. The sauce on top was a ketchup mayo mix like on a regular Ruben sandwich. The flavors were good and the hotdog was hot. Next time I will have to try their main sit down restaurant.
