The venue team was fantastic with communication and super helpful in guiding us on where to park and unload. They have a designated vendor parking spot, which made unloading a breeze--a huge plus! Trash disposal was also quick and easy--we simply tied up the bags and placed them in the designated spot behind the building. Parking during the event was smooth with no issues at all. Most importantly, the venue staff were beyond kind and helpful, making the entire process seamless and enjoyable! And a special shoutout to Laura, the owner--she is the absolute sweetest! We can't wait to cater again at The Barn at Poplar Springs soon.

David and team brought this connection together! This venue is absolutely gorgeous. From the moment you walk towards the door, you see at the corner of the building, the unassuming yet illuminating Zen sign presence. The foyer greets with such high beautiful ceilings (and walls) with the artistic lighting. There are two other space to enter. If you continue straight, you enter a much larger area that has on its walls, wonderfully large paintings of flowers evoking both energy yet calmness. I discovered that Jeff, the owner had painted the walls and can see the nice brushstroke patterns along with the majority of the flower paintings. We were for the most part in this area which is shaped like a gigantic "L" and you would go further in and to the bottom foot area find a large bar awaiting. There was also a table of desserts and a musician. There were the hors d'oeuvre standing tables yet with nice high seats along with the comfy chairs. We had our networking, food, drinks, and murder mystery here. I've been to Zen many times in the past for several different non-profit/charity events and always so well done. This room depending on the size of attendees is an ideal spot for these types of reception/activities. If you had gone over to the right from the foyer, you would enter a huge space that has on the complete opposite side some large screen that projector is displaying and lighting. There are tables with seats and this brings back memories of when the company I worked for held their holiday parties here and this would also double up as a dance floor! There's another bar right underneath the staircase, and if you walk up the stairs, not only do you have a great view of this room (and if you were trying to search for someone dancing, walk up the stairs and gently look for your man) it also has a private suite that can act as the bridal room since such great furniture, a kitchen and bathroom complete with shower (so if you start getting cold feet, you can turn the heat on your feet)! Not only does Zen have these different space and levels, they even have an exterior space, their own zen garden. I've never noticed it before since other times I've been here, it would be dark and couldn't see OR since it was December, they had tents with heaters. There are many different options to use this beautiful place and Jeff is extremely down-to-earth and inviting. Besides hosting such fancy events, he also has hosted various dance parties. If you or the organization/company/group you identify with have a need for up to 350 people, this would be ideal!

Unfortunately we didn't make it past the front desk. The gentlemen who I assume was either an owner or manager or in charge (gray, long, greasy hair and sleeveless shirt and tattoos) rudely kept telling us we didn't need a reservation and was mocking us telling us that "this isn't a fancy dinner place" - as if we did something wrong. He kept repeating it and made us feel really uncomfortable. It's possible he was on drugs, but we decided to leave and not give them our business. It was a really big let down.

This is a beautiful facility generally, though that doesn't really extend to the locker rooms,…read morewhich are very basic and utilitarian. If you're into pools, there's two of 'em, an indoor and an outdoor. I mostly go here for group fitness and while the schedule *looks* extensive at first glance, I actually often have a hard time finding a class each day I'd go to here. Many of the day time classes are for seniors/ "active adults" which is a bummer if you're not in this demographic. Group ex instructors vary in quality; there are some here I really enjoy and some that I avoid. I'm kind of surprised at this, and hope the Y is paying attention to those who are avoided and who are either further trained, or switched to another position. I especially enjoy almost all of the TRX classes and some of the kettlebell instructors. Weight and cardio room seem standard, with standard equipment though slightly crowded space. The room is a nice aesthetic, with a lot of windows and natural light. The windows give a view for those using the cardio machines. The area for individual floor or mat work is a little small but I've not had a problem with it being too crowded to use. It'd be nice if it were more segregated. This is the only YMCA in Greenville that offers towel service, so that's a plus for this location, and, but, I begrudge a little bit since I go more to Eastside YMCA (no towels, better group ex schedule for me). Parking at peak times can be a challenge here, and it's a bit of a hike up from the parking lot to the facility, so if you're trying to make it to a class on time, especially if you might be forced to park in the secondary lot, allow time for this little hike. It can be part of your warm-up and cool-down. I haven't used the trainers here but they have them, along with massage services. Child care also available though I've never utilized this. It must be good enough, though, as I see people utilizing child care here regularly.
