I wanted a Christmas themed wedding. It poured rain the day I got married. Literal buckets and buckets! But because of the affordable price of the venue I was able to rent heaters and sides for the tent that was already provided. The last thing a bride wants is rain on her wedding day although they say it's good luck. Danielle and her staff busted tail with my wedding planner to make sure everything was magical. The rain didn't affect any of the intimate moments we wanted of our day. I swear that this is because of Danielle's organization and coordination with my planner. Rehearsal dinner issue: I had a lot of trouble with the first few venues we chose to do the rehearsal dinner at. Communication was not a priority to them and I was really struggling. Luckily Danielle was there. I contacted her in a frenzy 2 weeks prior to our event (don't wait that late!). She not only handled our wedding, but we got to have our rehearsal dinner there too. Which made it so nice to not have to change scenery with so many people. We had it catered right there on the property after our rehearsal. It made things so easy on us. I recommend asking if you can cater the rehearsal here as well if it's an option. It was very affordable and also allowed us to feel better about the big day. COMMUNICATION: Of course I had no idea what I was doing when I showed up to look at the Duncan Estate, but from the time we signed our agreement to even the week after, Danielle was there. She sent me so many resources to help me budget, plan, even questions and things I had not thought of. She answered all of my emails in a timely manner and communicated with me often. This is so CRUCIAL when you are looking for a venue. FINANCIALLY: Trying to save money? Of course you are. Weddings are costly. The Duncan Estate was so affordable! Includes table, chairs and a tent in your price! She also gives discounts for different weekends depending on supply and demand. I think this is important to know because this helped us afford sides and a heater for the tent. She was very considerate of us having to rent these for a December wedding. THE LOOK: But I want my wedding to look phenomenal! Of course you do and since Danielle cares about all those details she has dedicated so much time and effort to preserving the Duncan Estate and also to making sure your details are the way you want them. Danielle spent a lot of time answering my questions and going over the events of my day. She spent 2 hours with me, the groom, and the coordinator combing through every detail a couple of weeks prior. It made the day of events move as smooth as they could. I can't imagine not having someone so organized with all the rain delays and junk we had with the weather on our wedding day. The bottom line is you can't control outside circumstances like the weather or companies with bad communication. But you can control who you choose to handle your special day. Choose the Duncan Estate. I promise Danielle will make sure your wedding is everything you want and more.

The fries were crunchy on the outside and hot in the middle. This was one of the best BLT's I've had on a very long while. And they have 20oz stouts! That's a definite win!! However, the loudness and the wings were the two biggest issues for me. But with that being said, I will return and try the wings again. I tried to get intel on best places to see blooms at the visitors center, but staff weren't overly helpful in assisting where to explore, so I basically grabbed the map and drove off meandering around the back roads, winding up at the Hanover House (super friendly staff here) and the Caboose and President's gardens (some blooms in this area). Despite feeling a bit lost while exploring and encountering very few blooms, I did overall enjoy my visit to the South Carolina Botanical Gardens. I would rate it as a 3.5 out of 5 experience overall, as much of the land on property seemed not to serve much of a purpose, and you really have to spend time exploring (and getting lost) to find interesting blooms.

I booked the venue for 10/25, but on 10/23, things went left. Up until then, communication and everything else had been fine. However, the owner gave one of my vendors incorrect information regarding communication, which wasn't true and felt unprofessional. That's when my experience started to shift. Another thing that bothered me was being asked to pay a damage waiver, then later finding out from my decorator that the owner had been onsite during setup. When I arrived around 7:30 PM for my Halloween photoshoot, the owner was sitting outside in her car. While I was inside taking pictures, she remained nearby. Once I realized she was still there, I decided not to continue my shoot and texted my decorator to come gather her things. Once my decorator came to collect her items, the owner joined us inside and stayed there until we finished, which added to the uneasy feeling I already had. Even though the event itself was canceled and I only used the venue for a photoshoot, I still paid for full-day access and expected to feel comfortable during my rental time. The venue is beautiful, but the owner's approach and lack of professionalism really took away from what could have been a much better experience. Update to Owner's Response: First, let's talk about communication. You were being lazy -- plain and simple. You know we've been communicating through email and Facebook Messenger, and your own response to my message (which I'll gladly post) proves my point. Second, I changed my personal phone number, which I'm under no obligation to share with you, especially since we were already in contact through multiple other ways. Instead of reaching out by email or Messenger like you've always done, you chose not to contact me at all -- and then lied by saying you couldn't reach me. What's worse is you contacted my decorator first, before even attempting to message me directly, and I have receipts of you admitting it. Third, let's address the deposit situation. I was asked to pay a damage waiver while you were onsite the entire time, monitoring everything during setup and throughout the evening. That didn't sit right with me, because if you're physically present the whole time, what exactly is the waiver protecting you from? Also, when we book an event, we're paying for private use of that space during the hours listed on the contract -- not for the owner to hover or interfere. You're supposed to be on contact for emergencies, not stationed inside the venue watching over everyone like a chaperone. Lastly, I don't care if you and my decorator worked well together or if other clients like you being onsite -- I didn't ask for you to be there. My review reflects my experience, not anyone else's.
