Specialties
Focus K9 is a professional dog training company serving Connecticut, specializing in obedience, behavior modification, board and train programs, and personal protection training. Our goal is to develop clear, confident, reliable dogs while giving owners the skills to successfully handle them in everyday life.
Our training goes beyond teaching commands. We focus on communication, structure, impulse control, environmental stability, and real-world reliability. We work with dogs at all levels, from foundational leash obedience and advanced off-leash training to challenging behavioral cases involving reactivity, fear, insecurity, aggression, and bite histories.
At Focus K9, we believe training the handler is just as important as training the dog. Owners learn how to understand, communicate with, and maintain the training their dog receives so results continue long after the program ends.
We also provide personal protection and working dog training for suitable dogs, emphasizing stability, obedience, confidence, control, and clear headed behavior.
Whether you need better everyday obedience, help with serious behavioral challenges, off leash reliability, or advanced training, Focus K9 builds better dogs, better handlers, and stronger relationships between them.
History
Established in 2020.
Focus K9 was built from a passion for understanding dogs beyond basic obedience and has grown into a professional training company working across pet, behavior modification, protection, and working dog training.
Over the years, our experience has expanded from everyday obedience and complex cases involving aggression, fear, and reactivity to advanced off leash training, personal protection, and working alongside police K9 teams and handlers.
Our philosophy remains the same across every area of training: develop dogs that are stable, clear headed, environmentally sound, and reliable under pressure while developing capable, educated handlers on the other end of the leash.
Today, Focus K9 proudly serves dog owners, working dog handlers, and K9 teams throughout Connecticut, continuing to raise the standard for both dogs and handlers through practical, real world training.
